Perry TV Ad: I Can Defend Faith from Obama’s “War on Religion"
Fox News ^ | December 7, 2011 | Lexi Stemple

...Texas Gov. Rick Perry is on the attack, claiming in a new TV ad that President Obama is waging a "War on Religion," and he's the GOP candidate that can defend faith in America.

"I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a Christian, but you don't need to be in the pew every Sunday to know there's something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can't openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school. As President, I'll end Obama's war on religion. And I'll fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage," says Perry in the new ad titled "Strong."

...Perry ties his faith to his conservative stands on social issues, and the campaign has zeroed in on gay marriage and social issues recently, releasing several statements laying out its argument that Obama is attacking the fundamentals social conservative believe in. The arguments range from President Obama directing the Justice Department to stop arguing for the Defense of Marriage Act, to less substantive examples like Obama leaving God out of his Thanksgiving speech this year.

In one emailed statement, Perry stated, "just when you thought Barack Obama couldn't get any more out of touch with America's values, AP reports his administration wants to make foreign aid decisions based on gay rights. This administration's war on traditional American values must stop. This is just the most recent example of an administration at war with people of faith in this country. Investing tax dollars promoting a lifestyle many Americas of faith find so deeply objectionable is wrong."Perry is referring to a presidential memorandum released by the White House, in which Obama has directed all agencies working abroad ensure U.S. diplomacy and aid programs "promote and protect" the rights of gays and lesbians.

“This is just the most recent example of an administration at war with people of faith in this country. Investing tax dollars promoting a lifestyle many Americas of faith find so deeply objectionable is wrong,” Perry said. “President Obama has again mistaken America’s tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles. I will not make that mistake.”

“Just when you thought Barack Obama couldn’t get any more out of touch with America’s values, AP reports his administration wants to make foreign aid decisions based on gay rights.

“This administration’s war on traditional American values must stop.

“I have proposed a foreign aid budget that starts at zero. From that zero baseline, we will consider aid requests based solely on America’s national security interests. Promoting special rights for gays in foreign countries is not in America’s interests and not worth a dime of taxpayers’ money.

“But there is a troubling trend here beyond the national security nonsense inherent in this silly idea. This is just the most recent example of an administration at war with people of faith in this country. Investing tax dollars promoting a lifestyle many Americas of faith find so deeply objectionable is wrong.

“President Obama has again mistaken America’s tolerance for different lifestyles with an endorsement of those lifestyles. I will not make that mistake.”

Pro-life, pro-Perry “Texas Gov. Rick Perry picked up an endorsement yesterday [Dec 6, 2011] from Kurt Wuelper, the president of New Hampshire Right to Life.

"I know that Gov. Perry unequivocally believes that life begins at conception and does not waver in his protection of the unborn, unlike some self-professed pro-life candidates," Wuelper said in a campaign release. "But more than just talking the talk, Rick Perry has shown he is a man of strong faith and strong action."

Wuelper added, "He doesn't just fight against abortion, Gov. Perry fights for life. His dedication to providing assistance to pregnant women and encouraging them to choose life makes him exactly the kind of positive leader I want in the White House."

It is going to be tough for Perry to defend Faith when he is the least liked GOP candidate and trails Huntsman in a head to head race against Obama.

Even Jon Huntsman does better against Obama than Rick Perry, the least liked GOP candidate

Big buzz circulating that the Perry campaign internal polls are showing much stronger support than reflected in the published polls.

The Houston Chronicle loves posting those “hate” Perry headlines. Thanks for sharing.

It's just as I posted on another thread: Perry's poll numbers are like a huge compressed spring about to shoot with explosive force.

It would appear that the Chronicle is simply reporting findings of a Rasmussen study.

Do you believe that the Chronicle, Rasmussen and every polling firm on the planet in conspiring against Perry?

Since you’re not a Perry supporter, I’ll leave your support for the Houston Chronicle, etc. for others to calculate.

Well, a recent Gallup poll has Perry in third place among Republicans, behind Gingrich and Romney. He may not have much of a lead on the other lower tier candidates, but it is still something. And with the new proportional delegate system, so long as a candidate stays in the running, they might still be able to pull off a victory at the convention. Gingrich has made a ton of political enemies on the national level - Perry hasn’t, and in an old fashioned horsetrading style convention with no clear leading candidate, a lack of enemies is vital to getting the nomination as part of deal.

.......”nearly two thirds of potential caucus–goers are still undecided on a candidate. State party leaders say this race is anyone’s game and in the next four weeks we could see a dark horse candidate come out of nowhere.”....

You may call him the least liked of all and make Huntsman comparisons, But Perry has many supporters here and numerous threads and TV appearances where he really shines, Huntsman has none of these. I think your comaprisons to Huntsman are worthless.

Rick Perry, the least liked GOP candidate

That could change.
Who knows what they'll drag out about Newt that will bring him down.
Romney is not liked nor is Huntsman. Many would not vote for a Mormon.
Paul hasn't a Chinaman’s chance
Backman and Santorum are considered too controversial.

This is an issue I’ve been waiting for one of the GOP would-be nominees to get in front of. Perry just moved up a big notch in my book.

Ditto. I am giving consideration to those who are aiming their fire at Obama as opposed to other Repub's. (That kinda eliminates the one in the dress.) And getting in front of this latest "diplomatic" outreach thay Clinton spewed in Geneva yesterday is a deft move.

Strong ad. Perry is pushing the conversation. I think Newt and Mitt might just underestimate Rick Perry like so many before him have done.

Hammer it home Rick!
