Rand Paul Warns Voters about Gingrich and Romney
EconomicPolicyJournal ^ | 12-10-2011 | Robert Wenzel

Rand says of Romney:

He's moderate, northeastern, don’t-rock-the-boat Republican, and I think everyone in the party clearly understands that.

As for Gingrich, Rand says:

...what worries me is that the voters are being sold a bill of goods in Gingrich.

Gingrich began his career as a Rockefeller Republican from the liberal wing of the party. And though he has often spoken and occasionally acted like he left that wing, it is clear from his flip-flops and multiple “apologies” that his heart is still there...Gingrich is not from the tea party. He is not even a conservative.

He is part of the Washington establishment I was sent to fight. He has been wrong on many of the major issues of the day, and he has taken money from those who helped cause the housing crisis and create millions of foreclosures.

Sorry, I didn’t copy the first sentence which contains a link to the Demoines Register and Rand Paul’s letter. Here’s that link:

Here's my answer to Rand Paul based upon an analysis of the race with the two GOP frontrunners against the Kenyan Marxist. It assigns 1-10 points based on value standards established by Jim Robinson, the founder of Free Republic, a stalwart defender of Constitutional Conservatism.
Value Gingrich Romney Obama
------ --------- ------ -----
Pro-God 10 0 -10
Pro-life 9 0 0
Pro-gun 8 2 0
Pro-family 10 7 0
Pro-constitution 10 0 0
Pro-Bill of Rights 9 0 0
Pro-limited gov't 7 0 0
Pro-limited taxes 10 2 0
Pro-defense 10 7 0
Anti-homo agenda 8 4 0

=============================================
TOTAL 91 22 -10
By my calculations, Newt Gingrich wins all 57 [:-)] states but, admittedly, loses the District of Columbia and is utterly crushed in Berkeley. However in the real America, it's a clean sweep. As for Romney? Well, the figures show that he's a lot closer to Obama than he is to the man who most assuredly will be our next President.

January 2013 isn't that far away. That's when the restoration of American Exceptionlism begins. I can hardly wait!

I copied this from another thread since I think it's topical here as well.

Rand Paul is right!

Right down the drain. Sad to see a promising rookie make unforced rookie mistakes like this. But hey, when you grow up with a psychotic father figure, these things happen.

As a Conservative I am generally pissed at the GOP for giving us this piss poor choice of Romney Vs Gingrich. I do not and will not trust either.

Indiscriminate bashing of Paul by implication bashes the part of his agenda that makes more sense than any other candidate - that the Federal Government needs a serious and drastic haircut.

And lets lets the other candidates off the hook and enables their bad big government habits.

Condemn him where he’s a nut but recognize the part where he is a genius.

I suppose you could say he's pro-family. He's had several, himself. Not too convinced on the limited gov't one at all, though. You can't ask Newt a question without his coming up with a new government program on the fly.

And why just compare him to Romney? The choice is not between Newt and Romney; if it were, no one here would be arguing. Once people actually cast a ballot (remember that the primaries haven't even started yet), the field may even out a bit.

Now, there are worse candidates, to be sure. But it still surprises me the degree to which so many conservatives are willing to overlook Newt's entire career because of his TV debate performances.

Romney has stayed static with the statist part of the GOP base at the same percentage in the polls, he has actually fallen a bit. Gingrich, on the other hand, has persuaded a lot of people he is worthy at this point, it's not the "GOP" at all, they don't seem to like him, he's just made his case so far.

You can be pissed at that, but not really at the GOP, their establishment wants Romney, and the other candidates have shown they aren't ready for prime time.

I did limit my evaluation to the two current GOP frontrunners. You're absolutely right. Things can change on a dime and tonight's may alter the landscape of leading candidates considerably. (It was just a week ago that onetime frontrunner Herman Cain suspended his campaign).

If you're so inclined and have the time, I'd to see your evaluation of other candidates using the ten core value standards that are based upon what Jim has outlined. I really tried to be objective when I assigned the numbers but it is just one man's opinion.

Me too. I’m getting the same sinking feeling I got four years ago watching the GOP drift toward John McCain.

I had to laugh at the stunt Paul pulled on Hannity the other day. He said he had a big announcement that he would only say on the air. Then he says he wrote an attack essay against Gingrich to be released in Iowa. Hearing the tone of Hannity’s voice when he realized he had been taken was priceless.

“Value Gingrich Romney Obama
——— -———— ——— -——
Pro-family 10 7 0”

If you're going to shoot yourself in the foot, nothing like using an assault rifle. “Pro-family” legislators aren't banging a young staffer on a House conference table while married to another woman.

Gingrich has betrayed conservatives as often as he has betrayed his wives.

Careful: Kool-Aid can become addictive, not to mention the damage it does to your teeth.

No thanks. He’s insane, and the sooner he is relegated to obscurity with his pal Dennis Kook-sin-ich the sooner the conservative movement thrives.
