Canadians Ditch Kyoto Protocol

"does not represent a way forward for Canada"

In a move that was at least partially expected from Steven Harper's Conservative government, Canada has chosen to exercise her right to withdraw from the

global warming scam's centerpiece 'acheivement' to this point, the 1997 Kyoto agreement... they are first nation to do so:

"Kyoto, for Canada, is in the past, and as such we are invoking our legal right to withdraw from Kyoto," (Canadian Environment Minister Peter Kent) said in Toronto.
He said he would be formally advising the United Nations of his country's intention to pull out.

(Kent) said the cost of meeting Canada's obligations under Kyoto would cost $13.6bn (10.3bn euros; £8.7bn): "That's $1,600 from every Canadian family - that's the Kyoto cost to Canadians, that was the legacy of an incompetent Liberal government".

While he do go on to say that the Canadians are open to an a new international agreement, they would insist upon one that can allow them to grow and create jobs... and the Chinese would have to be involved as well.  In other words, there's never going to be any new agreement... and the Harper administration is perhaps simply playing good politics: why rub the collapse of Kyoto in the face of Canada's green Left just to humiliate them- they've done a plenty good job of that all by themselves.

You know, the more I read about Canada the more I come to believe that it is the country with the brightest future. All those resources and the willingness to exploit them, no deficit and it has actual grown-ups in charge of its government who have little time for PC BS...

And it’s incredible the way Harper drove the Socialists -one unbeatable- out of the government.

As I understand it they staged two major showdowns with lack-of-confidence votes and Harper kicked their but both times, the second taking an absolute majority for the Conservatives... I think it’s the first time for that in like 70 years!
