If life were fair, Rick Santorum and Michelle Bachmann would be doing much better than they are. I understand the reluctance to back Bachmann. I stopped backing her because she claimed, among other things, that God was sending recent natural disasters, killing people all around the world as a warning.
Santorum, to my knowledge, hasnt made any such self destructive statements and believes with a passion what he says.
He just doesnt seem to project any passion himself. And thats a shame. He would probably do well and is undeniably for a strong America.
Gingrich as usual was the smartest person in the room, but like Obama has an arrogance befitting a know-it-all professor and, like Obama, is an admitted progressive. He goes so far as to call himself Wilsonian in his beliefs.
That in and of itself should scare the bejesus out of anyone. Gingrich loves big government because he believes, like Obama, that he is special enough to make it work.
Perry proved much more appealing, throwing a Tebow-style Hail Mary pass. He seemed more relaxed, even enjoying himself. He defended his policies, state and tenth-amendment state-of-mind very well.
He did himself more good than any of the others who did as expected in their own box.
Romney was Romney. Slick, polished, bending with the wind and justifying his being all over both sides of all issues. Expected nothing less, received nothing more.
Paul was his Constitutional self. He makes a great deal of sense on many issues, and then becomes the most dangerous man around when he claims he expects the Iranians to react in the same, Mutually Assured Destruction way as the Russians decades ago.
Apparently affected with the same type of blind spot as Obamas government, he cant see that Islamist terrorists...

I do like Santorum but he comes off as a real horses butt sometimes.I think that is his biggest problem that he comes off so cocky at times and that is hard to take.
“He just doesnt seem to project any passion himself.”
I disagree, passionately!! When he speaks, he seems quite sincere and passionate to me.
Obama must go, Except for the nut Paul, and any of our candidates would be a vast improvement over what we have now. But I’ve lost my excitement and enthusiasm for the election because Im not crazy about any of the names left. Kind of the way I felt when Fred Thompson dropped out in 2008. Back then I disliked McCain even more that most of us dislike Romney today and I felt like a deflated balloon when he became our nominee. We all did. Yet, something changed in that election that brought back the excitement here on FR, and it even had many of us reach for our check books to send the McCain campaign a little something, or ask how we might volunteer. If you look back on the 2008 archives of FR you will see how enthused we were. You could not containe our excitement. So what happened? PALIN. One of the smartest picks of a VP in presidential history. If McCain did not run such a horrible campaign following that pick Obama would still be just a Senator from ILL.
We can only hope that Newt, Mitt, or whoever can really give the VP pick some thought and think back to 2008. There are a number of names that would give us that feeling back.
I said nothing about passion I said he comes off as a jerk a lot of times and that rubs people the wrong way.
