Muslim students at Keller Elementary School in Green Bay quietly slip out of class each day to pray in a tiny alcove of the school. For five to 10 minutes, the group of girls is not distracted by students who walk nearby. We do it because our parents want us to, fourth-grader Ayan Artan said. Its important.
The students are part of a growing Somali population in Green Bay. And as that population grows, schools are trying to accommodate the strict prayer schedule for the students, many of whom practice Islam, educators say.
They note that the district accommodates Muslim students as well as Christians who choose to pray before meals or read the Bible during study hall.

They will give a Muslim kid 50 minutes a day to pray while at the same time Not allowing a Christian to pray in silence or as a community event for 30 seconds.
This country is done.
When I read the headline, I figured that this was probably being done at the Barack Hussein Middle School...
No such thing. Muslims must pray 5 times per day...there is NO schedule proscribed. This was cited by Hertz in their decision to fire Somali drivers.
So, the Christians get the same time off too?
Then it will be a win win situation.
I'm convinced that faithfulness and prayer are the only ways to combat this insidious cult of islam!
I live here in Green Bay. There is a huge influx of people from Somalia.

So Catholic kids can have a mass in the gym on Holy days and Protestant kids can have a bible study during school time.. (((((NOT))))
“They note that the district accommodates Muslim students as well as Christians who choose to pray before meals or read the Bible during study hall.”
Good to see that they are accommodating students of all faiths the opportunity to practice their religions.
From the article: “A few local residents have approached the Green Bay School District with concerns about the prayer time in schools. They worry the time in prayer takes away from learning and uses school resources to accommodate religion.”
Quite disruptive. Are the Christian students allowed to leave classes also? Seems that the prayer times for Christians are during non-learning times. I wonder, might the school also have a policy about not introducing new material during the muslim students’ absence for prayer? Clearly this is a violation of the Constitution and surely is favoring islam over other religions.
One of those ain’t a religion.
“Prayerfully, the Christian students will start praying before meals and at the start of their school day.”
The Christian students can already pray before meals and at the start of the day or whenever they wish.
I happen to be friends on Facebook with Mr ACLU Bob Barr and I asked him if the ACLU is going to stop this or not...
as well as Christians who choose to pray before meals or read the Bible during study hall.
Wow. I am impressed. I am glad to see a school that will allow prayers before meals and Bible in study halls. Maybe America is not doomed afterall. Good for the school. More should follow!!!!!
BULL!!!! Did you read the article???? NO YOU DID NOT!!!! They are allowed to pray before meals and can take the Bible to read during study hall or times when they feel the need like lunch time. Sheesh.....Knock it off!!! The emotional lies that you provide is embarrassing.
>>So, the Christians get the same time off too?<<
And Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Zoroastrianists, Wiccans, Vikings, heck even Pastafarians.
Why are there Somalis in this country? What could they possibly contribute? How do they harmonize with the traditional values of those who founded this nation and kept it strong?
I think we all used to say our prayers before we ate that cafeteria food.....
I thought that was a typo, but before sticking my foot in my mouth for the unpteenth time I looked it up.
