Are the Republican aristocracy afraid of winning, or just content with losing?

Northeastern, milquetoast Republican “moderates” who toil long and hard to avoid the social embarrassment of association with uncivilized, conservative inhabitants of flyover country must understand that we in the Party base are NOT willing to graciously lose the 2012 election.

If Karl Rove, George Will and Peggy Noonan wish to escape the disapproving gaze of haughty Hamptons friends by mocking every Republican candidate who vaguely appeals to conservatives, let them.

This time around, we who actually appreciate living and working in a free, prosperous United States are not going to surrender our ideals to the “wise counsel” of RINO elites for the sake of “party unity.”

In mid November, David Frum–that eager ambassador of feigned conservative values–submitted to New York Magazine a primer on the dangers posed to the Republican Party by the “radical right.”

In it, he expresses amazement that anyone in “his Party” can “…[denounce] the construction of a mosque in lower Manhattan as an outrageous insult” or that they could conceive the iron-fisted federal “…regulation of private insurance [and] individual mandates” could lead to death panels! (1)

He is mortified that members of “his Party” adhere to the outrageous contention that Barack Obama is “…willfully and relentlessly driving the United States down the road to socialism.” (1)

And not surprisingly, he looks upon the Tea Party as a “passing mania,” responsible for the “…paranoid visions of a Democrat Party controlled by ACORN and the New Black Panthers.” (1)

It is “…disaffected whites—especially those who didn’t go to college—who form the Republican voting base,” claims Frum.

And the representatives of this very confused, uneducated group have been led to extreme views by the power of talk radio, provoked to contempt for minorities and immigrants and imbued with a universe of impossible notions. (1)

When you are on the same side as the enemy what do you think? They don’t want their private gravy train to derail.

Good question. There was Mc Cain the last time. There was Dole against Clinton. They have a little self distruct history.

"""""They don’t want their private gravy train to derail.""""

You are a truth teller. Republicans NEVER want to be in charge, as they have to much work to do explaining their own conduct. Easier to let the Dems take the blame, and take their PERKS and earmarks. Thinking Dennis Hastert now.

It was their idea, we didn't vote for it, don't blame us, we tried. Well OK then, at least you tried so we will give you another 4 years.

The republican elites would rather rule in a minority than serve in our majority.

Back when the Republicans took over the congress during the time of Gingrich being speaker of the house, it was soon apparent the republicans do not like criticism. They do not stand up and hold to a position. They seemed to have decided it was better to be in second place, and avoid the blame heaped on the those being in charge/majority.

VERY SAD ... but in my view TOO TRUE. We compromise again and again, ever getting the short end of the stick.

Very frustrating for true conservative Republicans.

No, they're afraid of losing. Electability is key. It's simply a difference of viewpoint. We don't need to look for weird conspiracy theories everywhere. We can't win with a candidate that can't appeal to moderates and independents in the General Election. Really people...

Either outcome is okay by them. For establishment Republicans and dims it is never about the good of the country, it is about power, influence, and money.

Yep, and I am sick about that.

I remember working so very hard at getting the Republicans in charge before. I was telling people, "just give it a try, just put the Republicans in charge ONE TIME, never been done before, what's to lose"??????

Well, those damn republicans lost it all, and spent more than the dems did, and lost my credibility for me. Sorry SOB's.

And yet, I am trying once more, how many more times, I'm getting old and not much more fighting I can do.

It’s not that the GOP establishments wants to win or lose but rather having a seat at the table among the other elitists.

I know a couple of the Elite/aristocracy “republicans” and these folks have very little in common with the base of the GOP...those of us who believe in small government, individual responsibility and nationalistic pride.

These elitist literally believe the folks in flyover country can not survive without the leadership of the aristocracy.

They are as delusional and are as terrified of someone like an outsider such as Sarah Palin as their cousins on the left.

They’re SNOBS! The GOP Establishment Elites are no different than Liberal Elites, they all look down on the rest of us. We are merely implements to empower and enrich themselves. Get involved in TEA PARTY activities and win back our country from those evil bastards.

To them, losing is preferable to winning with someone who will upset the apple cart.

Thus we say No to Willard.

They don’t want to be blamed for the economy so they willingly hand it over to the enemy only to have the enemy put us in worse times. I blame the GOP more than the RATS because they know better.

They want their spenders like Bush in place. The Republican Party in general is not Conservative.

Here in New York, Republicans can pick up scraps from the table, if they play the game with the Democrats. But beyond that, they have no voice.

There are no newspapers and few media who will support them, or transmit any new ideas The unions, social-engineers and other leeches have such a hold on the system, its like Soviet Russia. If you show conservative or “radical” tendencies, you will simply disappear, unheard - especially at the local or state level of politics. Your career will be over before it gets started.

Hopefully those excuses are going down the toilet. It’s really time to start sending them home or to jail.

“scraps from the table”

That’s a PERFECT way of describing the Republican spirit. They are—at least the overwhelming majority—tickled to death with having that nice, secure GUARANTEED portion of table scraps.

It is infinitely preferable to doing battle with the left in all its perverse forms: the Dem Party, the MSM, the American Bar Assn, labor unions, blacks, illegals, good Lord, the list is endless and so are the headaches and concomitant threats to the re-election chances of a Republican candidate. Just remain as invisible as possible, take orders from those who “have the goods on you” should you ever get out of line and be thankful your leftist bosses permit you to remain in Washington, DC.

It’s enough to make a true American GAG.
