Republican Chicken
Flopping Aces ^ | 12-21-11 | Michael Henkins

Let me just get this out there. I don't hate Mitt Romney the man, I just despise Mitt Romney the candidate. I lived in Massachusetts and eagerly voted for Mitt Romney for Governor. Had the sign in the yard. Did the smile and wave thing on the corner. I was ecstatic to see a Republican win an election in the Liberal Lion's den. Life was good.

Until...

Well, we do not need to go into reasons why a conservative may have a few misgivings about what Mitt Romney did after he won the election. Those are well documented. Still, the man seems to be much more faithful to his wife and family then he is to his ideals, which he should be commended. Though that is not the credentials I eye when choosing my candidate. I like them feisty and brutally honest. A little swagger in the step. To me that is what is needed now to confront the upcoming storm that is about to sweep us all out to a sea of liberal hell if we don't find a leader to man the ship. And here is where the problem begins and this is how I see it.

The Republican Establishment wants to play it safe as always and nominate a Mr. Rodgers.

The Conservative base wants an all out assault on our problems and nominate R. Lee Emory.

The Republican Establishment wants Mr. Rodgers to sing a little song about unity as he puts on his sneakers, smiling.

The Conservative base wants R. Lee Emory to throw a box of tissue at Harry Reid and call him "Jack Wagon!"

The metaphors are endless, but the point is simple enough. Mitt Romney is not R. Lee Emory. But neither is Newt Gingrich. Not even in the same zip code really. Newt Gingrich on the other hand is not Mitt Romney, just as Sarah Palin and Herman Cain were not. And now we have reached the crux of it all.

This primary has much more to do with the factions behind the nominees then it is about the candidates themselves. How else would one explain Newt Gingrich's sudden rise when Mitt Romney stays stagnant as primary voters are dumped into the voter sea again and again to be scooped up by other potential candidates? Romney has the money, the team, the entire Republican Establishment behind him yet when primary voters are looking for a life raft to save them when their nominees ship has sunk, they hardly ever climb aboard Romney's boat. Its because too many of the Republican primary voters the life raft Romney is rowing belongs to the people who sunk their ship.

Not to mention the Leftist Media, who have a vested interest in keeping their affirmative-action community organizing Kenyan Muslim in office.

This is excellent and the writer is correct.

Gingrich was not first choice of most of his supporters, but he is as of right now the last one left. The Conservative base has said “Enough!”.

NO ROMNEY, THE GOP-E has to be stopped before it’s too late.

GO GINGRICH!

Good article.

No, the RINO Establishment will NEVER wake up and smell the roses. Even though, as this guy suggests, the alternative is suicide for the GOP—and for our country.

If they manage to stay in control of the primary process, then we are finished.

The Republican establishment is synonymous with the MSM.

One by one the canddates that defied the MSM have been cast aside as unelectable. Palin was chief; she decided not to run. Cain was next; he said he was falsely accused but his family didn’t want to fight it. Bachman and Santorum are still in but their numbers are low enough that people don’t think they have a chance, and the election that defeated Santorum in the Senate gives a clue how he would be treated in the media if he was the R nominee. Rick Perry is still in; his own statements and debate performances have kept the media from having to attack him but if he was the R nominee they would attack him as well. And even though both Mitt and Newt are “safer” from the media because of their more liberal stances and personal skills, they too will be butchered by the media if they become the nominee. And even if elected, they will be sucked into the political-media cabal that has screwed this country to its current position.

We’ve got the entire political class, including those who were considered to be “conservative” leaders, ignoring the lawlessness of Fast & Furious while making fun of anybody who recognizes the very-badly-done birth certificate forgeries of Obama. It’s like nobody is willing to say, “The king is naked”. We’re all supposed to follow these “brave, fearless, conservative leaders” who are too afraid of media ridicule to state what is obvious to most people. Those people are not going to be willing to take back America from the lawless free-for-all it’s become.

Unless conservatives can unite behind a candidate that is willing to poke both the media and R establishment in the eye, we’ve got nothing. The whole process is corrupt - including the R’s. Think Murkowski. The whole media and R establishment are protecting the status quo, of lies carrying the day and politicians lawlessly screwing the Republic.

We need a little boy - a hobbit, maybe, too small to be greatly tempted by power and who doesn’t care that the conventional wisdom will call him a knave - to simply say that the king is naked. A voice willing to say what the rest of us have already seen but the pompous asses who claim to represent us are too chicken to say and the bureaucrats, media, military, law enforcement (except Sheriff Joe) and courts are too corrupt to investigate or even obey the laws themselves.

Which one shall it be?

Very well put. But perhaps the answer is a girl: Michele Bachmann. BTW, what word will the MSM concoct as the feminine equivalent of "knave"?

JFTR, I recall R. Lee Emory throwing a box of tissue and calling the target "cry baby."

I also recall it being such a hit as to be decried (NPI) Superbowl material, even as a re-run.

There is a BIG lesson there for the pubs, if they had just a smattering of common sense.

Oh well...

Two questions:

(1) Who is that female in the lower right corner of your little photo montage?

(2) Pardon my ignorance on this, but who is R. Lee Emery?

Bachmann has my vote. She’s held firm and that’s the least I can do.

Gonna be real interesting when people realize how they’ve been manipulated by the establishment they think they’re fighting against.

Mary Matalin? Gosh, I haven't seen nor heard anything about her in quite some time. Same for her husband, the former Clintonista James Carville.

Creepiest political couple ever. Carville still goes on TV and spots off. I saw a link to recent Carville segment somewhere, I didn’t watch it.

Matalin though I have seen neither hide nor hair of for years.
