No other candidate in the race talks about their home state anything like the way Perry does about his.

No wonder!

Right now, Rick Perry's biggest problem remains the 8 years of George W. Bush. If Perry came from any other state, his poor performances early on not have been as devastating and subsequent excellent performances in later debates would fully redeemed him.

For all the "Miss me yet" feelings across the nation, America still suffers from Bush fatigue and Rick Perry's poor early debate performances played right into the MSM's stereotype of "another dumb Texan." Neither Bush more Perry fit that narrative, but it is the image with which they have been painted and it has stuck.

I think if Perry came from any other state, he would have risen back up in the polls, but Bush fatigue has poisoned the well.

I think Perry would be the best of Presidents, but I hold out little hope that he will be nominated.
