Democrats and San Antonio valedictorian Benita Veliz accused Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Monday of pandering to party extremists for his pledge to veto proposed legislation to provide citizenship for children of illegal immigrants.
Veliz, a Jefferson High School and St. Mary’s University graduate, was spared deportation last year and has become a spokeswoman for the so-called DREAM Act championed by Latino and other minority groups.
“I was appalled when I heard Mitt Romney say he would veto the DREAM Act,” Veliz, 26, told reporters during a conference call arranged by the Democratic National Committee.
“So many young people like me who were brought here so young; Mitt Romney’s notion is not only insensitive – it’s irresponsible,” Veliz said.
Rep. Charlie Gonzalez, chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, suggested that Romney’s comments in the heat of the race for the Republican presidential nomination amounted to one GOP candidate trying “to out pander another.”
“You have to be responsible,” said Gonzalez, D-San Antonio.
During a campaign stop in Iowa last week, Romney pledged to veto legislation that would allow illegal immigrant children to become U.S. citizens.
He defended his stance during a televised interview Wednesday.
“I like legal immigration, I want more legal immigration. But illegal immigration has to be stopped to make legal immigration possible,” Romney said on CNN’s “Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien.”

fast forward further into story- Veliz displays her own irresponsible, running a stop sign, driving without a license and driving without insurance, had she caused a fatal accident she would of NOT of had to pay the other parties medical bills, replacement car,etc,etc,etc, yet let you hit her and she will sue you for everything you have. But illegals certainly do not act very responsible. Illegals think think everything evolves around them

Valedictorians of any age deserve swirlies.
It's the same lazy and childish media technique that applies to the words "mom", "Marine", "stripper", and several other words.
Any news story about a woman that has given birth at some point in her life, she'll be labeled as "mom." The words "mother" and "woman" simply aren't used anymore.
The word "mom" was on the foxnews.com site 4 separate times today. That word will be on the foxnews.com site every single day.
Same goes for the word "Marine." If a 95 year old man appears in a news story, and he was in the Marines for 6 months 75 years ago, the headline will be "Former Marine Gets Community Service Award."
Same goes for the word "stripper." If a 95 year old woman was a burlusque dancer 75 years ago, the headline with be: "Former Stripper Gets Community Service Award."
Veliz sounds as though she is not as bright as she thinks she is. I thought the commie ‘RATS did away with valedictorians so the dumber graduates wouldn’t have their feelings hurt.

I notice they do the same thing with “cheerleader.” If a woman was a cheerleader at any time in her life, she will be labeled as that when she makes the news.

Plus with a Dream Act these students get to sponsor their illegal alien parents and siblings for citizenship. It never ends. They are entitled to shyte. They are lucky they got free k-12 educations from the American taxpayers. The bleeding hearts demanded this....this should never been allowed.
