Pro Football Players’ Union Opposes Indiana Right-to-Work Law
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 7 Jan 2012 | John Semmens

Posted on 01/09/2012 1:13:07 PM PST by John Semmens

The National Football League’s Players’ Association (NFLPA) warnedIndianalegislators not to pass a “right-to-work” law in their state. The proposed legislation would bar making union membership a requirement for holding a job.

Despite statistical data indicating that economic growth rates and per capita income growth is faster in states that have right-to-work laws, the NFLPA assailed such laws as “the wrong priority for Indiana. These laws undermine the incentive to place teamwork ahead of personal success. They reward selfishness rather than the solidarity and sacrifice that has helped make the NFL the glue that holds our civilization together.”

While acknowledging that “the average working man could not hope to reap the kind of rewards from the kind of compulsory unionization that has so richly benefited the members of our organization, he can still be a team player by urging his elected representative to vote against this legislation,” the NFLPA statement read. “We need to stand on principle here and recognize that when it comes right down to it, a person’s right to be a member of a union, whether he wants to or not, must not be restricted.”

My local AM station here in central Indiana broadcasted this story today about 11:30 AM and it was not satire. Since it is such as amateur station, I figure they just got punked.

Unions are ONLY necessary for extortion of over-the-top pay and benefit structures, and to protect the non-performers from being removed via the "Seniority System", and contract protection.

ANYONE who is skilled in an endeavor can rely on their own MERITS, without a "safety in numbers" scam to allow them to hold positions for which they are non-productive and/or non-qualified.

ALL Unions should be prosecuted as RICO violators (Private Sector, and MOST ASSUREDLY Public Sector Unions).

Right-to-Work States are the future of competitiveness and productiveness in the USA.

Unions priced our products and services out of the market, and merely serve as a money-laundering operation for the Progressive Agenda/Democrats.

Yes; I realize it was supposed to be satire, but it's so close to the factual, that I thought I'd vent here.....

Sounds like the concussion problem is more serious than first thought. BTW, football will be banned in our lifetime if Liberals have their way.

Just loved this part: “We need to stand on principle here and recognize that when it comes right down to it, a person’s right to be a member of a union, whether he wants to or not, must not be restricted.”
Shakespearian!

Good Satire... I hope Indiana can move to right to work. Unions have devastated that state. My father in law lived there semi-retired. He wanted to build a house, farm and horses. The cost of construction was absolutely outrageous. He had one contractor explain that he had to pay a guy $12 an hour just to hold a shovel (this was several years ago).
