Rick Perry Zings Herman Cain [on Laura Ingraham's show]
ABC News ^ | January 12, 2012 | Arlette Saenz

Looks like there’s a little war brewing between Rick Perry and former presidential candidate Herman Cain, who recently criticized the Texas governor’s depth and knowledge of political issues.

“I hope Herman doesn’t think running a Godfather’s Pizza is the same as running the state of Texas,” Perry said on Laura Ingraham’s Radio Show after the host played a clip of Cain’s comments and the Texas governor touted his job creation record in the state.

During an interview on the Fox Business Network Wednesday, Cain called Perry a “foregone superstar” who “wasn’t deep on any of the issues.”

“He started out with a lot of hoopla, and it wasn’t deserved, because the media, as well as the establishment, wanted to make him a foregone superstar as soon as he got in the race,” Cain said Wednesday morning. ”And he had to debate. People found out that he had very weak debating skills, in my opinion. He wasn’t deep on any of the issues, and this sort of thing.”

Perry continued to criticize Cain’s 9-9-9 plan, which became the platform for the former candidate’s presidential bid.

You may be right. I’m sure Laura baited him with the Cain quote. She is quite the nasty piece of work herself.

I suppose he could have said something noncommital like, ‘Obviously I disagree with Mr. Cain, but since he’s withdrawn, I won’t get into it with him.

Unbelievable.

omg, the cain people are back to gloat.

It’s okay. I could have gloated when their boy’s ugly past was revealed, but I was way too nice a girl.

I was a Cain supporter, even donated to his campaign.

Sorry, but you basically spent your own money to help finance Cain's book tour. His campaign was never serious. He was never going to be the nominee. Herman was making it up as he was going along in order to sell books and build name ID so he could score a better radio or TV gig.

Maybe now she does, but she was a cainiac back in the day.

What she mainly supports is coming on Perry threads and making nasty comments.

Oh I see. You have no problem with Perry making ‘nasty commsnts’ about someone who isn’t even in the race, but you continuously whine about non Perry supporters making ‘nasty comments’ about) Perry.

You typify EVERYTHING that is wrong with the Perry camp. I honestly feel sorry for you.

Bay, altura and some of her rah rahs would have you believe that those of us who shifted support among candidates are bitter. But what they fail to realize is we’ve ALWAYS supported conservatism.

Which explains why so few have shifted to Perry.

Get your facts straight...your man started this, but don’t let the facts ever get in your way...

I very much supported Cain's positions, if not the man himself, until his own peccadilloes caught up with him; and I became finally convinced that there was some fire behind the smoke, or he would not have succumbed (would not have quit) to the last charges. I am convinced that was the case and not "concern for his wife and family" in the atmosphere of continuing charges of philandering.

With that, I cannot give any credibility of his criticism of any other candidate - "people who live in glass houses should not throw bricks"; which is a politically correct way of saying that Herman Cain's criticisms of Perry are akin to "the pot calling the kettle black".

Those aren’t his only weak points, his ineptness on policy is just one of many.

"Cain seems to want to blame Perry for the flock of floozies that trampled throguh his campaign."

Correct, his campaign, as well as him personally, botched the responses to the ho brigade..

True, but which one is in the race and in desperate need of support? Responding to Cain was childish. He should be attacking Obama AND Romney instead of these childish sidebars.

No, there will be third choice.

Perry has all the depth of a Texas rain puddle in July. He came in with a lot of undeserved hoopla---throwing his hat into the race the same day Bachmann won the Iowa Straw Poll---stopping her hard-won momentum. For a nanosecond he was top dog then voters found Perry had very weak debating skills; the coupe de grace was when he called Americans "heartless" b/c they did not agree with his in-state tuition policies for illegals.

Now Perry's between a rock and a hard place----damned if he does---damned if he doesn't.

Perry did NOT campaign in NH AND FINISHED ALMOST DEAD LAST.

However, Perry DID campaign in Iowa---AND FINISHED ALMOST DEAD LAST.

----Perry spent the most money-$6 million,

----ran around in two campaign buses,

----held numerous campaign events,

---- glad-handed thousands of Iowans,

----ran non-stop ads touting his conservative credentials,

----trucked in 1000 Texans for groundwork,

----campaigned with California legislators and other high-level supporters

----AND FINISHED ALMOST DEAD LAST.

Cain should have just faded away and kept quiet, however, his comments about Perry are pretty accurate none the less.

"I thank God for that last woman. She got the Cainster out of here and now he should just shut up and please go away."

That's so wrong. You may not like Cain one little bit, but to thank God for these sleazy women with questionable stories that never produced a shred of credible evidence that Cain broke his vows of marriage, is beyond the pale. I expect better from you. They tried and partially succeeded in ruining a fairly good conservative, and you're thankful. Wrong.

"She is quite the nasty piece of work herself."

On that we agree. I can barely watch her when she fills in for O'Reilly. She asks a question and never stops for the answer, all in an extremely vitriolic manner.
