In my last post I commented (once again) upon Andrea Rossis E-Cat cold fusion system and at the end of the posting I asked readers to vote on whether they thought (believed) that the device would perform as claimed (i.e. that it will be shown to produce significantly more energy than is required to start and maintain its operation). Over the following eight days more than 1,160 of you voted (an impressive 5% of readers!) and as of today, Sunday, January 8th, at 12:30PM PST, the results are:

Blog Author asks: "But how do we account for those who so firmly believe the E-Cat is real? Is the basis of their belief that they just want the E-Cat to be real? Is it that they believe that the E-Cat works on unknown physics?"
I am going with they just want it to be real.
It’s called “affirmative bias”. They just look for the things they think confirms how they want the results to turn out.
Did they also believe in the Maharishi’s “Peace Field”?
Generate some power for less than cost, then I’ll take it seriously.
Until then, it stays in the basement with my Uncle Olaf’s perpetual motion machine.
A cat touched my e-fence surrounding the feed barn today. The horses spooked at the sound of the e-cat’s launch into the tin siding.
I’m going to go with “I want to believe”.
Kinda like the weekly impending life ending global catastrophe but with a smiley face.
On the other hand you have a bunch of folks who know a lot about the four fundamental forces, and they also know how to read the math used to explain the processes.
That's why the writer of the piece got a pret'near 50/50 split.
You have another, smaller group, who've read enough to know something but not everything (besides which there are things that are secret) and they don't feel they have enough knowledge of the four fundamental forces or of the experiments to come down one way or the other.
That third group are NOT SKEPTICS. Their knowledge of physics is probably way above that of the average individual.
I think you could get a quick shift one way or the other with the first two groups if you could prove one of two things ~ (1) That hot physics physicists are actually engaging in propaganda attacks against LENR to protect their government grants. Or (2) That LENR physics physicists and physical chemists have been engaging in propaganda attacks against hot physics in order to pick up their share of government grants.
Latest on FOX News this evening is that Cylindra is just one of SEVERAL multibillion dollar frauds.
The guys who went with LENR are going to feel lucky they weren't in on SOLAR or WIND ~ which are both turning out to be scams.
A truly useless article
Right beside the carburetors that were supposed to get you 200 mpg.
Call me crazy, but I’d believe in pixie dust as a green source of cheap energy before I would believe that E-Cat is anything more than a Cheshire cat.
ping
I don’t find this article all that interesting. It’s basically more about Rossi than LENR. I’m a LENR fan, not necessarily a Rossi fan.
If you think it’s worthy of pinging the cold fusion ping list, I keep the list at the bottom of my home page on FR. Feel free.
Funny how the author, Mark Gibbs has never mentioned Rossi’s criminal past in any of his blog posts.
LOL! That's why you copy and paste your Rossi spam every chance you get.
No, I agree not that interesting, just thought you might want to take a glance to keep up with whats out there on the subject in freeper land.
This will be my standard post to moonboy that says youre not worth trying to have reasonable discussion, also says buzz off & doesnt leave crickets. But if it offends you to the point that you get it removed like my prior innocuous citation then I’ll have to come up with some other ‘ignore button’ post.

This means I have nothing more to say to you about LENR. Bye.
