The ice storm that hit here in Kentucky a few years back knocked a lot of branches out of my apple, pecan, and pear trees. I gathered them up and now use them with my grill. If you've never tried pear, it is very similar to apple.

During the brief warmup last week, I tossed a slab of ribs on the grill. Once they were well on their way, I put some cheesy fries (diced potatoes, onion, and sharp cheddar wrapped in foil) on as well.

Next time, I'll do a brisket. My dad just gave me a rub recipe that I'm aching to try.
