After viewing the Thursday night GOP debate in Charleston, I noticed a recurring pattern with Mitt Romney.
After virtually every hard hitting, direct question - he responds by saying Im going to answer your question - BUT FIRST... then he rambles on with some canned nonsense having nothing to do with the question. It's pretty obvious that he has these remarks well memorized, having been campaigning for the past six years.
What Mitt seems to be doing is thinking of how he's going to answer the poignant question while the torrent of dribble effortlessly spills out of his mouth.
You may have noticed that sometimes he finally follows the ensuing monologue with an insipid answer to the original question posed - and sometimes he exhausts all his time and bores the audience so much that he gets away without answering the question at all.
A classic example would be last night after he rambled on for several minutes without answering the question, he actually had to ask "where were we?" That was when Newt paused and smiled with subtle sarcasm, then said "Gee Mitt, I don't know". It was a masterful execution on Newt's part and demonstrated what an impressive communicator he is. I highly recommend watching that moment again as I don't think most people appreciated it. It's worth a rewind.
The thing is that Mitt is only fooling his disciples, the 25% GOP moderates.
The rest of us are tired of the platitudes and question dodging. The November election is going to be a street fight and banal remarks won't get it done. We cannot send in a paper champion with a glass jaw. Newt is ready for prime-time.
Following is my take from last night: Mitt Romney: a Glass Jaw Candidate (video at sight)

All breakaway LDS sect Mormon missionaries are taught at BYU's Missionary Training Center to "Answer the question that should have been asked."
Robert Millet fine tuned this standard method with which breakaway LDS sect Mormons lie to the world.
Youtube search "Millet Lying for the Lord" to see it first hand.
“answer the poignant question”
I think he means pertinent. I can’t imagine anything poignant mitt romney would be asked or answer...except maybe wasn’t he glad his dog only got sick and didn’t die on his fun family trip or something.
Sounds awfully like taqqiya.
Great observation. He comes across as breathless and agitated during the debates. I was pondering if Mitt was not so handsome - (remembering Rick Perry’s hilarious comment - ‘that’s one good looking dude’) would he even poll at 25%????
Would be interesting to hear from some seniors with poor eyesight.
My fear is that if we get saddled with Romney he will perform poorly under the stress of dealing with 'rat perfidy. Cutting deals in boardrooms is nothing like what he will face from the 'rats, and I don't think he's equipped for it.
Oh yes. Was it the Mormons who invented the concept of “heavanly deception”? I get my cults confused sometimes.

76 YO, that senior enough? I totally agree, and am reminded of Al Gore. Throw the bum out!
The worst part of all was his reply to the question about releasing his tax returns. His best answer wold have been to stuff the qustion right back at the questioner by saying he'd release them once the Illegal released all of his academic and personal records, which Rush earlier suggested Mitt do. He could have followed that up with a blistering attack on the media for its complete failure to vet the Illegal. If he'd done that, he'd have been right up there with Newt, possibly getting another standing O just like Newt did.
Agreed. Romney is terrible in these “debate” settings. He comes across as prissy. Almost like a self-satisfied little girl.
Newt has his issues, but unlike Romney he’s not going to take the crap the MSM usually dishes out to Republicans while protecting Obama...Romney will certainly lose in November...Gingrich may too...but along the way he is going to club Obama and the liberal press.
I’ll take my chances with Gingrich.
Listen to any progressive on TV, they all answer some other question and try to run the clock out.
That’s not old;) How’s your eyesight though?
Reminiscent of the JFK & Nixon debates - those who saw them on TV thought JFK won - because he was handsome and Nixon was sweaty.
Those who listened on the radio thought Nixon won - because he made good arguments.
Thanks for your posting your observation regarding Romney’s performance in the debate. I kept thinking: “he’s avoiding answering the question...”
How can the establishment and so many people be so stupid when Mtt is clearly on tape saying he ie “pro choice”?

Corporate executives are taught techniques like this for dealing with the press, angry shareholders, irate analysts, etc.
That is exactly what it is. FLDS/LDS "Prophet" Joseph Smith was a big fan of the king of rockchuckers, Mohammed.
"The Prophet inculcates the notion, and it is believed by every true Mormon, that Smith's prophecies are superior to the laws of the land. I have heard the Prophet say that he would yet tread down his enemies, and walk over their dead bodies; and if he was not let alone, he would be a second Mohammed to this generation, and that he would make it one gore of blood from the Rocky mountains to the Atlantic ocean; that like Mohammed, whose motto in treating for peace was, 'the Koran or the Sword.' So should it be eventually with us, 'Joseph Smith or the Sword.' "
(LDS Published History of the Church 3:167).
Dozens upon dozens of referenced quotes from the FLDS/LDS founder's published sermons and books state as doctrine that the LDS church thinks Islam is superior to Christianity, and that Christianity is an abomination.
I didn't notice that technique until you pointed it out.
Mittens always looks like he is either constipated or is holding in some nasty gas.
He never looks natural and comfortable with being grilled on stage, and the media has been giving him a pass, if he gets the nod and they turn on him {like we know they will} he'll be like the fawn in the headlights.

Something similar is what I ask myself quite often: How can there be so many people lined up to vote for and support Romney?
But then it hits me — the problem is not the politicians at all. A majority of *VOTERS* knowingly & willingly elected Obama! If they were moronic enough to do that, voting for Romney can’t possibly be considered as distasteful.
Well, I shouldn’t call them morons as I refuse to believe that many people are that pathetically stupid. I don’t know for sure what causes otherwise sane, rational people to vote Obama or Romney, but I can imagine some things...
