Antibiotics And Their Use in Collapse Medicine(tm), Part 1

One of the most common questions that I am asked from prospective survival medics is “What antibiotics should I stockpile and how do I use them?” There isn’t a 60 second answer to this. Actually, there isn’t a 60 MINUTE answer to this, but anyone that is interested in preserving the health of their loved ones in a collapse will have to learn what antibiotics will work in a particular situation.

It’s important to start off by saying that you will not want to indiscriminately use antibiotics for every minor ailment that comes along. In a collapse, the medic is also a quartermaster of sorts; you will want to wisely dispense that limited and, yes, precious supply of life-saving drugs.

Bag of Red Mill Baking Soda
What are you paying for that? $2 a pound or more.

You can get a nice bag at Walmart or Costco much cheaper
for the EXACT same food grade Sodium bicarbonate.

I buy 40 pounds of the EXACT same food grade sodium bicarbonate for about 25 cents a pound at the feed store.
(supplement for dairy cows)

No aluminum, just NaHCO3

You might be able to get some of your additives if you need them for specialty cooking but just read the label.

The bicarb I get differs in grade from others in their product line only by the size of the grain.
The company does makes an ultra pure grade for dialysis but other than that, just NaHCO3

Check the label for anti-caking additives. That may be where you are getting something other than pure bicarb.

Notice what I said about there being no separate manufacturing facility for fish antibiotics.

Yes, that means that you’re using human antibiotics in your fish tank, in the same dosages as you would give a person.

How do you know that people antibiotics are safe to give to people? How do you know you’re giving the fish the right dose!

I posted a link above somewhere that talks about dosages and usages of the various antibiotic types. You use cephalaxins for anthrax, etc...

They are the exact same capsules from the same supply. 100mg of Doxycycline is a standard human dosage. It is a lot harder to use them on birds, you have to open the capsules and proportion the dust for the bird into drinking water.

It is a dirty little secret of the pharma industry that a $5 human pill is the same as a 50cent horse pill. Same machine, same lot numbers, different retail package.
