"Romney is Unacceptable" - Open Letter to RNC
Personal | 1/26/2012 | JediJones

Posted on 01/26/2012 1:15:32 AM PST by JediJones

Dear RNC,

I'm a lifelong Republican, voted straight Republican since I turned 18 in 1995, have attended Bush and Palin rallies, and donated and volunteered for McCain/Palin in 2008.

Mitt Romney was never a good candidate, never had the right experience, never showed the kind of personality that can get elected in a national campaign, and based on his liberal record as governor never belonged in the Republican party to begin with. Even so, up until this week, I would have been willing to vote for him in November if he was the nominee, even though I would never have donated to him or worked for his campaign. But after his disgusting, rude, outright lies about Newt Gingrich and his campaign's gross misrepresentations of Newt's record this week, I will never vote for him now. I would rather have gridlock between Obama and a Republican Congress than award Romney with the Oval Office.

Romney is disgraceful, an embarrassment, and the most dishonest and unethical politician on the national scene since Bill Clinton. Because of his liberal record and his false, vicious smears of fellow Republicans, he will tear this party apart at its roots if he wins the nomination. Few in the party's base will donate to or work for his campaign.

If Romney wins the nomination, the party will have to work hard to rebound after his certain Presidential election loss in November. Since the base won't support him and negative Bain Capital ads will destroy him with independents, just as they did in his 1994 Ted Kennedy race and last week in South Carolina, he is a guaranteed loser. Something must be done in the future to make sure a candidate who has a record this far off from the party platform or a candidate who engages in tactics this dirty and dishonest against fellow Republicans never again is allowed to compete for our Presidential nomination.

Not really sure who I should send this to, but I e-mailed it to the RNC.

I believe Newt is the finest candidate we’ve had run since Ronald Reagan. Because of his ability to articulate common-sense, conservative principles in a way that the average person can understand, he would win in a semi-landslide.

The Romney team goes scorched earth on Newt and expects our support later? Not bloody likely. They always want conservatives to suck it up for RINOs, but it's not like they'd ever vote for our guys. Should Newt win the nomination, I fully expect the Romneybots to back Obama.

I agree. The morning starts out with a great post and comment from you. They guy’s comment just above you has been deleted from my brain and into the recycle bin. He’s probably driving the Santorum’s taxi to the Orlando airport tomorrow AM from where he flies back to Virginia. Mabye he can convince Santorum to drop out.

Good morning. Can’t tell from your site if you’re for or against Sarah? VEry strange.

Can I suggest, if you haven’t yet, that you view at least one of Newt’s townhall meetings> Each one is a learning experience.

I for one would LOVE to see him pick Sarah for VP. It would galvanize us beyond comprehension.

I agree too, with the post that the RINOs think conservatives are going to rally around Romney to beat Obama. They’re nuts. After what Romney has shown us in his tear down scorched earth game there is no way I’d spend one thin dime on his campaign.

Ann Coulter can go you know where if she thinks we’re going to forget the things she’s said about the other candidates.

BTW, she wasn’t very complimetary of Sarah either.

Why is it, with more than 300+ million Americans out there, many of them highly accomplished, we only end up with hacks, frauds, liars, incompetent idiots, empty suits and self-serving hucksters and hustlers as candidates for president with every election a lesser-evil choice between Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee?

What kind of political system is this?

Because look at the crap anyone has to go through to run for political office. It destroys and runs off good people.

Also, we just don’t have many leaders left. We wouldn’t be in this situation if we did, so it’s a vicious catch-22.

At the 1995 Goldwater Institute Dinner honoring President Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich was the keynote speaker. Nancy Reagan gave a short speech on behalf of herself and President Reagan, in which she both spoke warmly of Newt and recognized Newt as the heir to the Goldwater and Reagan legacies:

The dramatic movement of 1995 is an outgrowth of a much earlier crusade that goes back half a century. Barry Goldwater handed the torch to Ronnie, and in turn Ronnie turned that torch over to Newt and the Republican members of Congress to keep that dream alive.

Send it to Newt's campaign and to Romney's campaign and to your two senators, your House member, your local newspaper, and to Senator DeMint.

The RNC called me on Tuesday for the umpteenth time, so I asked to talk to the person in charge so I could be removed from the calling list.

By the time I finished explaining that I am all in for Newt Gingrich, donating directly to him, will NOT support Romney if he's the nomineee, I think I am finally off the calling list!

I literally had to tell the RNC that I didn't give a rip if the GOP went the way of the Whigs if Romney is the nominee.

“both newt and romney are horrible choices.”

Depressing, isn’t it? Santorum has been getting some positive critiques re the last two debates, but there’s nothing that could move him up far enough to win the candidacy. I think all four remaining leave a lot to be desired, but Santorum seems to be the “cleanest” compared to Mitt and Newt, and the most sane compared to Paul. Not one of them is a good candidate, sadly.

If Romney is nominated and is the face of the Republican Party, we will lose the house.

-- What kind of political system is this? --

In practice, it's a system that serves the elites, who band together in competing factions so as to give the public the illusion that the public has a meaningful influence on the bureaucracy. The only influence the people have is which faces will populate the elite layer.

The federal government is radically out of its constitutional boundaries, in part thanks to tenure-for-life judges who have been selected by the (federal government) master they serve.

They don’t care what you think. The elites are looking out for the elites. No more, no less. We are merely pawns in their globalist game.

Bravo. I’m reusing those words. I get the callers all the time. I usually tell then I’m not donating until the party show me they’ve grown a set and that I only donate to individuals...but yours is a much more effective response.

Romney signs taxpayer funded abortion legislation and Gingrich reforms welfare.

You call both horrible.

You must realize looking at the contrast above, that, if Newt is horrible, then Romney is demonic.

They are HUGELY different.

If they nominate mitt, it will be the end of the republican party for decades. Conservatives are being treated by GOP like the dems treat the African Am community.
