Dover, TN - It has happened again - a companion dog has been shot and killed by the police.
In this case, the dog's name was Girl - she was a German shepherd who was a constant companion to 73 yr-old Blanks "Buddy" Phippen.
Back on January 21, Buddy and Girl were sitting in their front yard when a car crashed into a nearby utility pole.
From this point on, details become a bit muddy.

The cop shot the dog for growling? It must be a case of “respect mah authority”.
LEt me get this straight. After a tramatic incident for the dog (a car crashing into the porperty, Pippen left the now confused dog alone? Of course the dog is going to be confused and territorial. This shmuck killed his dog.
No, a cop killed the dog. Read the story.
Postmen deal with far more dogs than the police, yet you never heard of them having a dog shot.
Give a maroon and he will shot it.
Psychopaths warm up with killing and torturing animals. Then they move to humans.

Garbage man
When my dad's dog died, a big part of my dad died with her. When dad died a few years later, everyone said he was finally united with his beloved girl.
When I think of a cop shooting that old guy's dog, I think of how that would have broken my dad's heart. What a needless and freaking cruel thing for a cop to do.
It's too bad that cops like that apparently have no heart and can't understand the pain they cause. Maybe they enjoy causing pain or are just too numb to care any more.
"To protect and to serve"? Not from where I sit. Just F'ing cruel. May that one receive the earned karma that's coming back around.
Where’s PETA when it counts?
Blanks “Buddy” Phippen?? Man, he must have had it as rough as that Boy Named Sue growing up. I’ll bet the girls were merciless.
come on, not true, I remember one shooting of a dog by a mailman.
one.
one of our local postmen packs heat and killed a beautiful boxer about 5 years ago while on the job.
There used to be upwards of 60,000 bites a year. Now it's down in the hundreds.
Frequently those dogs get euthanized as part of the agreement with the owners.
I can assure you I've heard of hundreds of dogs being shot by postal people years back when owners were just turning their dogs loose on them.
Remember, your letter carrier knows where you live ~
Letter carriers can refuse to deliver mail if they feel they are threatened by dogs. But it’s often a dodge to get out of work.
My friend’s mail was withheld because the carrier said his dogs threatened her. When my friend complained to the USPS about her behavior she was given time off and a different route. The next carrier said my friend’s dogs were fine and the previous carrier was not a nice person.
