Why Republican Politicians Sell Us Out
WordPress ^ | 28 Jan 2012 | Publius Huldah

It is a cliché to speak of “spineless Republicans”-google spineless republicans and you will see.
They talk “conservative” when they campaign; but once in office, they go along with the progressive agenda.
That agenda is to grow the federal government until it controls every aspect of our lives.

Why don’t they oppose the progressive agenda?

Rush Limbaugh says they don’t oppose it because they want to be invited to the right parties and praised in the liberal media.

But on this, our Rush is wrong. Rush is a man of Principles; but he doesn’t understand the Constitution.
So he doesn’t see that the spineless ones also don’t understand it; and that their failure to oppose the progressives stems from their lack of any Standard to guide them.

In other words, the spineless Republicans don’t know what the alternative is to the progressive agenda.
They don’t know that Our Constitution created a Congress with limited and enumerated powers. They don’t know…

The very fact that we have such an invaluable, priceless document as the Constitution being shredded daily is unforgivable.
We tend to talk too much and do too little.

The Usurper-in-Chief is LHAO in the belief he is above the law.

Enough preaching to the choir, we Americans need hot coffee in our laps!

I think it has a lot to do with us.

My congressman has repeatedly implored we the people to hang over his and every other elected official’s shoulder. The people are also quite fickle. Look at what concessions we’re willing to make for the illusion of electability. It sends a message.

So, do we conclude that the American Experiment has been a failure, or is turning into such? Fine Constitution vs the fallen man.

Obomba is not the first POTUS to ignore the Constitution, the Ninth Circus takes it to mean whatever’s the fashion of the day, the dumbed down populace demands more and more goodies.

Do you think I’m (or anyone) going to worry about the Constitution when my congresscritter promises to bring home pork to build a bicycle path around the lake?

They sell us out because they can. Abuse of power by the ruling class, plain and simple. So long as we keep voting the bastards in, they’ll keep doing it.

If Romney gets the nom, I simply won’t be participating in the political process anymore. Not going to waste my time serving the parasitical overlords.

Baloney. They know enough. They just don't give a damn. You think if someone sat them down at the beginning of a session and made them sit through a briefing on Article 1 section 8 it would change anything? Really?

Geez. I’m at the point of letting the bread and circuses play out. I want to fight (what?) this giant borg, political conglomeration. I think we’ve all been sold out. I’m backing Newt at this point.

after about 10 years their constituency becomes DC and the Beltway not the people in their districts or states. They are a 2 year or 6 year annoyance.

That's why we desperately need term limits! 6 terms in House (12 years) 2 terms in the Senate (12 years) Must sit out 6 years to regain eligibility to go back into the House or Senate.

I would like to force them to go back to their respective states!

You may recall that as Speaker Newt proposed the most modest restraint in entitlement growth and for this was labeled "The Gingrich who stole Christmas" on the front cover of Time. Who stood up for his defense in Washington? Nobody.

If it hadn't been for Rush and a few other alternate media types, he would've been sunk.

I quit wasting my time way back. I haven’t voted in a presidential election since Reagan.

Casting my vote for anyone who ran/running would have been an endorsement for people I cannot stand.

I want CWII. It is the only way to set things aright.

They don’t know how to sell freedom and independence to the people.

Some people honestly believe slavery, through government dependence, is preferable to freedom.

What a disgusting denial of knowing, deliberate traitors.

How utterly sickening.

Why the republican will sell us out:

Because the RINO republican establishment is as drunk on power as the left is. Political office tends to attract a certain breed of person, usually some one who tends to be a control freak, with narcissistic tendencies.
Take away the incentive for control and financial gain, and you will attract a more suitable person for political office.

If you are productive, it will be very difficult not to participate in the only political process the politicians, from both parties, really care about, paying taxes. If you give them all your money, they really don't give a damn what else you do.

That's the same sort of crap as those who say Obama means well but just doesn't understand enough to do good. I think politicians of both parites are like computers of which Dale (King of the Hills) speaks, "Computers don't make mistakes; what they do, they do on purpose".

Many politicians who call themselves Republicans have a political identity which centers around their ability to "work with" Democrats, or around their ability to present themselves as being "electable by a conserva-phobic populace". If conservatives were to score decisive victories, such politicians would lose their raîson d'être. They must therefore do whatever is necessary to ensure that doesn't happen.

The issue of whether a politician is a "moderate Republican" or a "RINO" doesn't have to do with the degree of conservatism they express, but rather in the degree to which they want to defeat leftism. If a congresscritter from a leftist state feels he cannot actively support a conservative agenda, that's fine, provided he doesn't actively oppose it. On the other hand, a congresscritter who openly supports a conservative agenda in cases where his actions can't affect its success or failure, but will opposes a conservative agenda in those cases where he has the power to make it fail, is poison and should be recognized as an ememy.

I made these comments on another similar thread, many good comments on there:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2839702/posts

Why does the GOP establishment want to run a moderate liberal? ( We will lose to Obama )

The GOP establishment types actually are not conservative, do not honor the Constitution, feel scorn towards us hoi polloi who don’t have the polish, insider/elitist contacts and lifestyle they have; some of us are poor, not so educated, and hold what to them are “extremist” views and ways of life. Many of the GOP elitists are not morally or socially conservative at all, so that is another reason they scorn us. They also feed off of attention from the MSM and fellow elitists and could give a rip what we think of them.

They are kissing cousins of the Dems, they have much more fellow feeling towards Dems/leftsits than they do towards the conservative believing and voting (when we get a chance!) populace. They actually prefer the status quo, do not want a return to Constitutional governance. They actually don’t care much about “winning” elections as they do about maintaining their hold on power, which they can have via money, lobbying and so on, whether the Rs or Ds win.

I view them just as much the enemy as Dems/leftists, if not more so. The reason I see them as actually worse enemies than leftists/Dems is that the GOP is supposedly the conservative side. I’d rather have an enemy wearing an enemy uniform than an enemy pretending to be a brother in arms, but in reality has loyalty towards the other side.
