OBAMACARE ARCHITECT: Expect STEEP INCREASE In Health Care PREMIUMS
Daily Caller ^ | 2/11/2012 | Myles Miller

Medical insurance premiums in the United States are on the rise, the chief architect of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul has told The Daily Caller.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology economist Jonathan Gruber, who also devised former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s statewide health care reforms, is backtracking on an analysis he provided the White House in support of the 2010 Affordable Care Act, informing officials in three states that the price of insurance premiums will dramatically increase under the reforms.

In an email to The Daily Caller, Gruber framed this new reality in terms of the same human self-interest that some conservatives had warned in 2010 would ultimately rule the marketplace.

“The market was so discriminatory,” Gruber told TheDC, “that only the healthy bought non-group insurance and the sick just stayed [uninsured].”

“It is true that even after tax credits some individuals are ‘losers,’” he conceded, “in that they pay more than before [Obama's] reform.”

Gruber, whom the Obama administration hired to provide an independent analysis of reforms, was widely criticized for failing to disclose the conflict of interest created by $392,600 in no-bid contracts the Department of Health and Human Services awarded him while he was advising the president’s policy advisers.

Gruber also received $566,310 during 2008 and 2009 from the [NIH] to conduct a study on the Medicare Part D plan. (RELATED: Full coverage of the health reform law)

In 2011, officials in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Colorado ordered reports from Gruber which offer a drastically different portrait in 2012 from the one Obama painted just 17 months ago.

“As a consequence of the Affordable Care Act,” the president said in September 2010, ”premiums are going to be lower than they would be otherwise; health care costs overall are going to be lower than they would be otherwise.”

Lets look at it this way and see how you feel.

Obama wants single payer health insurance and he wants that insurance to come from the Government.

What is the easiest way to put Insurance Companies out of business. Make their rates so high no one can buy it,

What do you get then. Government Health care —exactly what he wants.

It’s not hard to see what is coming if you open your eyes.

My eyes are open. I see exactly what is going on, which is why I’m looking for an “underground” doctor.

There might be a lot of them pretty soon.

Not sure what will happen, but will an underground Doctor be allowed to write prescriptions?

I agree completely. The plan is quite simple:

1) Create a payment differential so that hospitals get twice as much for doing specific tests as private physician offices do (this has already been implemented and is in place). This will force private physicians to work for hospitals - thus centralizing control and making it easier to take over. Once everything is centralized, payments to hospitals can then also be cut.

2) Force private insurers to offer plans that are ‘all inclusive’, thus forcing them to have expensive plans that are not affordable (all inclusive means things like abortion, dietitians, and a broad array of other non-essentials that are politically correct).

3) Limit the development of new devices and therapeutics by using the FDA as a form of rationing.

4) Make it more cost effective for companies to opt out of providing private insurance options and let their employees join government programs (unless, of course, your employees are members of a union that has pushed for their private plans to get waivers).

5) Create an atmosphere of panic and uncertainty among private physicians, such that they all scramble to sell their practices and join centralized hospital systems.

6) Do not allow physicians to start their own hospitals. (It's beyond me how it can be constitutional to use government money to pay private hospitals twice more for the same services than what is paid to private physicians, while at the same time not allowing private physicians to start their own health care facilities (hospitals and clinics).

7) Do not approach tort reform until everything is under government control.

There are other bullet points, but this is clear enough.

You are smart to look for doctors outside of the system. There are some who use whole foods, supplements and preventative measures instead of prescription medicines. Supplements can be outlawed but as of today, they still allow you to grow your own food and eat it.

I suspect that when ObamaCare is fully implemented that its costs will be cleverly disguised from the vast majority of people. It will probably be something like the federal income tax withholding system works today. A very large fraction of Americans think that their income taxes must very low because they get money back from the government. Some of these idiots will be blaming their employer for cutting their pay, and hold the government blameless.

Of course, PPACA’s costs cannot be disguised from the self-employed and small businessmen, who know very well just how high income taxes really are. But, self-employment and small business may not be viable options in Obama’s second term.

“They don’t call it ‘The Affordable Healthcare Act’ for nothing you know.”

As usual, the title of legislation describes precisely the opposite of what it actually does.

Paperwork Reduction Act
Privacy Act
Social Security Act
Tax Simplification Act
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
No Child Left Behind Act
Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act
PATRIOT Act
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

Let me be clear . . . (LOL), lets pass the "Truth in Naming Acts- Act"! Wouldn't that be a hoot? How does the "We Nationalized the American Health Care System Act sound? Not to your liking? How about the "If You Just Had a Heart Attack, We'll be with You Before You Know it Act? And the list goes on . . .

Unless, of course, one is completely ignorant of the law of supply and demand.

And that's precisely the demographic that Obamacare was pandered marketed to. It's surprisingly large.
