Triple Lutz Report–No Raises Makes for Unhappy Federal Employees
The Financial Survival Network ^ | 02/16/2012 | Kerry Lutz

Federal News Radio just reported that morale among Federal Workers has taken a hit. They attribute the decline in worker happiness to a two year pay freeze, which really hasn’t stopped workers from getting higher pay and constant bashing from Congress and the Public. From its website, it is difficult to tell whether this is a serious effort to inform the DC Federal Worker Community, or whether they’re a union shill. To quote, “Federal News Radio features the talents of some of the best federal minds in the industry.” We’re not sure what a federal mind is, or what industry they’re referring to, but in our opinion, if there minds were so great they wouldn’t be working for the government in the first place.

Federal workers are unhappy because many of them are not suitably challenged by their work environment. Lack of challenge leads to worker unhappiness. If a person is not growing, they’re going to be unhappy. Really simple concept that seems to have gone over the heads of Federal News. So perhaps it’s time to encourage all those unhappy government employees to seek employment elsewhere, where they’ll be more appreciated. And while we’re at it, after the mass retirements take place, lets close down the departments where they used to work.

Unhappy federal employees, who can believe it? They should be grateful they have jobs.

Fire them. I like to fire government employees.

So the seven wealthy counties around DC are unhappy about money? I don’t get it.

They are unhappy because this is what you get when you abandon meritocracy. High pay / Benefits can never compensate.

Well, "there" minds probably know enough to use spell check before publishing an op-ed.

Trust me, federal employees have not been happy since 2008.

“Federal workers are unhappy because many of them are not suitably challenged by their work environment. “

Fire them and consolidate their jobs....just like businesses do.

You know what would challenge them? Wolves. If they are good enough to roam around Yellowstone culling the weak from the herds, then they should be fine running down the hallways of the Department of the Interior in DC.

Spell check would not help. One has to know that the spelling in context is “their” not “there.” Spell check would state that “there” is spelled correctly.

Well, welcome to, almost, the real world where ANY pay increase in the past 6 years hasn't kept up with the cost of living increases, where there are a LOT of people out of work, and where those who DO still have a job have taken large pay cuts.

Okay guys, actually grammar check might have helped. Can’t correct here on FR once it’s posted. But I actually do know the difference.

Gonna “resurrect” this topic a little. My BIL (a liberal-libertarian) he claims the Federal employees haven’t had a raise now two years, and they deserve it.

He’s royally pisisng me off. *I* haven’t had a raise in four years! And their salaries still are coming out of my taxes. Okay, walking away before this really torques me off....
