From Miami, Florida to Seattle, Washington–
Every single Roman Catholic bishop in the United States has condemned in public the Obamacare HHS mandate — all 180 bishops who lead dioceses in the U.S. have spoken.
This is a simply incredible, unified, universal Catholic witness on this critical issue of religious freedom.
(To those wondering about my methodology, it is now negative instead of positive — I am no longer able to find a single Roman Catholic bishop who has NOT spoken out against the mandate publicly. It is also my presumption that this conclusion applies to all Eastern Rite and Sui Iuris bishops in the U.S.).

Catholic ping!
You’re goin’ down Obama; and God will see to it that you head in that direction too!
That’s great and everyone needs to pile on der Fuehrer and the democrats over this.
There is a however, however.
These are the same catholic bishops who as a whole supported obama and his “Hope and Change” and who are now upset that he lied to them as he did to the rest of us.
Who you support and how you vote can bite you in the ass, as they are finding out.
bttt
A bunch of woman hatin’, dark age livin’, intolerant, bigoted, old men - the whole lot of them. (/token liberal response)
Well, this just makes it all that much more attractive to Obama and his mindless followers.
DING, DING, DING!!!
oh so right.
Wow. I am truly surprised.
It was great to hear that my own denomination (LCMS), Eastern Orthodox, Baptists, and Orthodox Jews also stood with the Roman Catholic Church in protesting this unconstitutional violation of religious liberty, at the Congressional hearing this afternoon.
I think all these groups tend to be sleeping giants, but I hope and pray that we all are awake now, and that we can rouse the consciences of all our people as well.
Awesome.
And they will have full support from non-Catholics who are pro-Constitution and pro-freedom.
This might matter if there were any Catholics that remotely cared about any political statements by Bishops. I don’t know any.
What.... And liberals care? This sadly is a non issue when discussed and debated as a “contraception” mandate.
I have heard few voices that are debating what this actually has become. An all powerful dictatorship making unconstitutional mandates.
bump
The polling is trending towards the bishops. Look up CNN, Pew, and Rasmussen.
I think we also need to be asking whether Obama’s “science czar” has already put sterilants or abortifacients in the drinking water or basic food staples, as he has claimed would be justified for the government to do.
These people are tyrants, and people need to realize exactly what they are about.
The reason for the unity is that this is coming from the top.
“On January 19, Pope Benedict addressed bishops from the District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, the U.S. Archdiocese for the Military Services, and the Virgin Islands. These U.S. bishops were in Rome for their periodic ad limina visits, which included meetings with the pope and Vatican officials, covering a wide range of pastoral matters.
His words provide some sober reflection for us. As is usually the case, I would like to provide excerpts of the Popes remarks from a CNS News Article and then present my own comments in red.
Pope Benedict XVI warned visiting U.S. bishops that radical secularism threatens the core values of American culture, and he called on the church in America, including politicians and other laypeople, to render public moral witness on crucial social issues.”
-Msgr Charles Pope
Hugh?
And series!
AGain, it won’t change the MSM-Dem narrative. Facts won’t matter.
obamma does not care. There are more heathen than Christians he is thinking.
Including Anchorage, Juneau, and Fairbanks? Woohoo!
Are they opposing Obamacare overall or will they support it if they win the exclusion for themselves?
Redundancy Dept.
Aren't all RC bishops single? I thought so.
It’s my understanding that they’re not fighting for the exclusion for just themselves, but for all Americans. However, I would guess that there’s still an internal debate over withdrawing support for ObamaCare overall. Too many bishops have forgotten the Catholic principle of subsidiarity, which is quite compatible with the Founding Fathers’ concept of federalism.
Didn’t see this on ABC news tonight. But there was a feel good story nothing about Michelle Obama and a real hit piece attacking Santorum once even saying, “shows just how far right he is.”
The media is in full Obama worship mode now.
Catholics that attend Mass regularly care. The support of the Bishops will embolden and energize us. This is significant.
With respect, I think you will be surprised where this is going.
LOL!
I am one of many. At my liberal leaning Catholic church, who counts Newt, Begala and Terry McCauliff as members, there were resounding applause after the Bishops letter was read.
The Bishops are going to need to stay united. Obamacare section 1303 requires enrollees to fund SURGICAL ABORTION, with no exceptions for moral or religious objections.
It’s time that they excommunicate everyone who defies the Church on this.
The bishops need to play hardball and clean house of those who sabotage Christ’s teachings.
When catholic hospitals and schools start to close this will hit the fan.
This is just day one. Catholic church is 2000 years old. Obunga has plucked with the wrong people.
Here’s an idea for the Bishops: Get your flocks to turn against the anti-CHRIST 0bama!
I asked this question on another thread and didn’t really receive an answer. So, I’ll ask again..
If for some reason Obama drops this issue, do you think all will be forgiven in November?
I’m not talking about the conservative Catholics that reside at FR..but what about the more liberal members of the church that maybe up in arms now?
Plain and simple........
I’m not a Catholic, but AMEN!!!! Redemption perhaps?
Tis, a good question and I do not know the answer. One would think the bottle has been opened and the genie is out. In a normal world it could not be put back in but this is fair from a normal world.
This said there are many more things that will occur between now and the elections, so much that elections could be postponed? Greece default, Euro collapses, Israel / Iran, US - Syria friendly nations against Syria, Terror attack, US dollar failure (might be longer than a year, could be 3 or 4), Debt ceiling again...
To many factors but I would say they all work against O except the postponement of elections if that were to occur.
Wow... great news!
Still waiting for one with courage to excommunicate Nancy Pelosi.
This is a great development ONLY IF CATHOLICS follow the lead of their Bishops.
There are close to 78 Million Catholics in America. The number of adults of voting age in this group comprises a significant size for the November elections.
The question remains — HOW MANY OF THESE ARE FAITHFUL CATHOLICS and how many are the Nancy Pelosi types of CINO ( Catholics in Name Only)?
Thanks Pyro7480.

If they do that; well then, as I’m single now and wouldn’t ever have a family that depended on me... that would mean I’m in the “nothing left to lose” category.
Enough people in that category is how revolutionary wars get going.
You must have been visiting my house earlier in the evening, as that is what I was ranting about! Now that would be a statement the Bishops should make to show they mean business!!! Throw her A— out of the Church.
Not much wiggle room in that statement.
I got chills and a big smile on my face reading your post:
“...that would mean Im in the nothing left to lose category.
Enough people in that category is how revolutionary wars get going.”
I don’t think this state of mind has occurred to the bath-house boy; and he’s fertilizing it everyday with his sh*t, unaware.
We’re all Catholics now.
I want to say this if it hasn’t been said before. Obama is winning this argument. He is winning this argument, because he is controlling this argument and what the media is focusing on. All the windbags on the radio and T.V. are talking about this particular mandate, when we should really be talking about repealing the entire healthcare law. Sure, it is obvious that this mandate is scary and people are rightfully outraged, but just 3 years ago before this clown came on the scene, such arguments were completely unimaginable.
