Rick Santorum Public Prayer #4

Posted on 02/22/2012 6:38:14 AM PST by Dan.israel.2011

First some unsolicited "advice" to Rick Santorum for tonights debate.

Now that Rick is the front runner he will get a lot of "attention" in the debate tonight... this can help it or it can hurt him if he gets drawn into the "social" debate. We all know Rick's personal convictions on abortion. No doubt the "BABY KILLERS" will be after him and pull out all stops to attempt to destroy him.

Rick, if you asked a question about abortion just answer with "I am pro-life and my record speaks for itself on that issue, but that is not the issue that the American people talking about right now.... what the people ARE talking about is SOARING GAS PRICES, unemployment, and the future of our ecconomy.... and then go on to speak to those issues with your remaining time.....

If he can do this successfully he will WIN this primary AND the general election... Now let's pray.

Father God, I approach your throne of grace boldly and seek your fogiveness for failing to do your will. Forgive me and forgive my fellow Americans for our selfishness and attempts to find answers within ourselves when you are the source we should be going to for answers. Not just answers, but guidance, your word is clear and your promise is true... I claim your promise that you will direct my path, and I pray on behalf of my nation to direct our collective path that the United States of America will continue to be the beacon of hope for the entire world. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to you O Lord, my Rock, my Savior, my Redeemer.

Amen

Who exactly are you to offer “advice” to a candidate who has risen from abject obscurity in a 9-person field to the top of the Republican heap? When did you run for the nomination and win? Did you run someone else’s winning campaign?

Seriously. Just wondering.

I don't have a prayer, but I hope he focuses on Obamacare, and that the entire controversy with the Catholic Church was brought about because of the overreaching power of the law. Then he should turn to Romney again and ask him how he can defeat Obama since he cannot raise the issue of Obamacare because of Romneycare. It's redundant, and he did it before, but it is still the strongest reason he is the best candidate.

I agree with you on Obamacare but he should let us pundits handle the “church controversy” he should not draw himself into that right now

Actually I don’t understand why it is a “church controversy”. I don’t want the federal government dictating what’s in my health insurance coverage period. One aspect of this that never seems to be mentioned is that the HHS secretary sets these rules based on his/her whim. So if the Left likes these rules now, they may not like them when the other side sets the rules in the next cycle. Also, how disruptive is that going to be to have the entire country’s health plans undergoing major shifts every 4 years or whenever an HHS secretary changes. Maybe I’m ignorant and some of this is locked in stone, but I don’t see how. To me the fact the Catholics happen to be the first party stepped on is just ancillary to the larger issue.

I agree with you, but I was talking about the debate TONIGHT... I don’t think it would be in Rick’s best interest to make this debate about abortion or the catholic church.. we all get it.... he can’t allow this debate to be about that.. it needs to be about ecconomy, jobs, etc... if he can do this effectively he wins... hands down.

Stunning. I guess Obama knew what he was doing, because you seem to indicate that a discussion of Obamacare is now a discussion about religion and abortion. As long as you think that way, Santorum cannot raise the issue. Obamacare happens to be one major reason Santorum is a superior candidate to Newt or Romney. If he has to abandon the issue for fear that it raises the specter of a a “religious” discussion, Santorum forfeits a major advantage over his competitors. Newt or Mitt can match Santorum effectively on jobs or the economy. Other than his “blue collar” jobs angle he has little to no edge on the economy. I appreciate the debate, but I hope he doesn't play it safe, because he'll fade if he does.

To be upfront Newt is my choice. Santorum is my 2nd but he is fading fast. This country has major problems and many of them are not related to Abortion or his Catholic Beliefs.

Jobs, Spending, Taxes, Israel and the Middle East, Oil, Immigration they need just as much attention as Abortion. Santorum is by appearance becoming a one trick pony.

All we here from Santorum is about Abortion. Yes I am appalled at the number of Kids lost every year but that is not the only issue that this country faces.

It's being filtered bud. If you see him in town halls, he spends little to no time on social issues. The media is driving him on to this topic. I agree with the fellow that started this thread that Santorum has to avoid delivering sermons. I think he can exploit the health care topic without preaching, though. I think part of his strength is that he doesn't avoid issues when asked. People admire that, but then it becomes his weakness because the press then edits him into a one dimensional candidate. We'll see if a mainstream Christian can be elected in this country anymore or not.

I am not suggesting he “play it safe” by any means... he needs to LEAD the charge on the other issues as well or he will be painted as a “single issue candidate” which he is not, but the left will try to keep him taling about abortion so they can try to make that false charge stick... even the Newt folks here on FR are attacking Rick on that.. he needs a strong showing tonight on the “other issues” and not get drawn into the abortion debate tonight..... we all know he is the strongest candidate on moral social conservative issues he does not need to prove that tonight... he DOES need to prove he LEADS the way on the Ecconomy and is able to take on Obama and win! He NEEDS to do this tonight to seal the deal with the American People... God be with him !

Newt and Mitt do not want to debate Rick Santorum on those issues because they KNOW he can beat them head to head on those issues because he is able to talk “in depth” which is actually a weak point in a campaign... Rick has a “problem” of overexplaining his positions at times when a short sound bite will be sufficient. It makes him look like he is babbling and then they get him started on the social issues and they paint him as a “single issue” candidate... again, I am not paid to advise him, so this advice may be worth exactly what Rick Santorum paid for it.. LOL
