We're All Racists Now
The College Conservative ^ | February 23, 2012 | Amy Lutz

Posted on 02/23/2012 6:02:34 AM PST by amylutz4

Recently, Hayley White, a 29-year-old mother in the UK rushed to her son, Elliot’s, school in the middle of the day only to find him confused and in tears. Most would assume that Elliot had gotten into a fight at school, had been caught cheating, or engaged in some other cliché’-worthy schoolboy activity. Well, the majority is wrong.

On that cold February day, Hayley learned that her son had been labeled a “racist” by school administrators. Earlier that day, the inquisitive boy asked a fellow classmate, “Are you brown because you come from Africa?” Now, had Elliot been a 19-year-old high school student, the school might have a case for racism. However, Elliot White is a mere 7-years-old. Instead of taking the child’s age into account, the school instead forced him to sign a document acknowledging that he had “made a racist remark.” I doubt that Elliot will want to ask another question in class anytime soon. For him, intellectual curiosity and punishment now go hand in hand.

During my 20 short years on this Earth, I’ve seen the word “racist” drastically change in meaning. I used to think the word was only reserved for the most prejudiced among us. If only that were still the case. Now, cries of racism are tossed about like beads at a Mardi Gras parade. Criticize the President’s singing? Well, you’re a racist. Oppose illegal immigration? You guessed it, racist. And God forbid you dare step foot into a Tea Party rally. After that, you’re pretty much a card-carrying member of the Klan. Now, not even naïve children are immune from the bitter cries of racism. It seems as if we’re all racists now. As accusations of racism grow more frequent, accusers often lose contact with fact and reality. As alluded to earlier, Rachel Maddow said that Newt Gingrich was going after “a southern mentality and racial allusions” when he said that “President Obama ought to stop singing, ought to stop being the Entertainer-in-Chief” after Obama was videotaped singing, “Let’s Stay Together.” Not once did Gingrich refer to the President’s race. He merely expressed his opinion on how the President spends his time. I certainly can’t see any racism in his comment, but then again, I am not nearly as cultured and perceptive as Rachel Maddow who used her fabulous mindreading abilities to see into Gingrich’s heart and found his racist intentions. Yeah, right. I know Obama is supposed to be America’s Superman, but not even he has that kind of superpower. Baseless accusations like this one rely not on fact, but on mere assumption. And you know what they say about assumptions, right?

Perhaps the most damaging aspect of baseless cries of racism is the affect they have on cases of true racism. When racism exists, it should be exposed, pointed out, and rebuked so that we all may learn from it. However, now that The Boy Who Cried Wolf seems to have multiplied and intensified, we are rarely granted this learning experience. Cries of racism are so frequent that few take them seriously anymore. They’re hidden behind the baseless accusations of racial prejudice and rarely exposed. Because I’ve been labeled a racist so many times for my conservatism, I even find myself rolling my eyes occasionally when I see the word “racism” zip across my television screen. Yet, this is not the right attitude. Racism is damaging, ignorant, and downright evil. When “racist” is continually overused, real examples of racial prejudice are diluted and often ignored. To say this is a tragedy would be an understatement; too many cries of racism are now synonymous not with racial prejudice but political opinion.

Thus, I urge my fellow Americans to not only abhor racism, but illegitimate accusations of racism as well. The latter perhaps do more damage than the former. In addition, it’s time to pray for a little more common sense in our nation. A 7-year-old boy is not a racist for being inquisitive, and politicians should not be labeled “racist” simply because they disagree with the President who happens to be of another race. Perhaps instead of Occupying Wall Street, Americans should Occupy Common Sense, Rationality, and Sanity instead.

As far as I'm concerned Racism is a social problem which comes from Leftists and certain radicals in the black community.

There is virtually no white racism in the US today. Certainly not in comparison to the rampant and egregious racism which is spewed by Obama, Cornel West, Al Sharpton, Chris Matthews, and Bill Mahr.

People who "play the race card" need to be laughed out of the game.

Good time to tell a recent and true story, names excluded to protect the many innocent.

Young black woman hired as an elementary school teacher by a black principal. He leaves and is replaced by a black principal. The teacher is observed by the principal and not offered tenure because her teaching skills are wanting.

Teacher goes to a black reverand in town, and he and the teacher’s family begin a campaign that the black principal denied the black teacher tenure due to racism. I kid you not.

So, the teacher must be re-observed by two White assistant superintendants, and a white teacher assists the young black woman by writing two excellent lesson plans for her.

The white school officials then give the black teacher tenure and another dreaded case of “racism” has ben resolved.

This is the America we live in today.

Oh, also great time to complain about a recent article in Parade.

Al Roker, super rich super successful black weatherman, says he gets angry over “injustice and inequality” because even today, in a “normal” section of town, he is wearing a suit and a taxi doesn’t stop to pick up him and his two sons.

Now, for so long as I have been alive it is an iconic aspect of NYC that it is very hard for anyone to hail a cab. Plus, seems every cab driver is a minority of some kind. Plus, they like to make money and Al Roker is famous.

This man of relatively little talent certainly is a multi millionaire many times over, is famous and well loved in America. Yet he would infect his sons with the belief that a cab drives past because they are black.

A racist America would not see him on tv, not quoting long articles praising him in Parade, people not buying his books, his many fans, I’m sure he lives in a damn nice property. It’s just mind boggling how people are convincing themselves that every time the wind blows it must be because they are black.

"Racist" is the new "counter-revolutionary", "capitalist-roader" or "imperialist".

Commies always use social intimidation in order to shut opponents up, at least in their early stages.

After that they just shoot anyone who disagrees with them.

Britain is simply reaping what it has allowed to be sown for decades: uber-political-correctness. I have ZERO sympathy.

If some moron tried this with my kid here in the States, they’d find me standing on their desk.....pronto.

"Fellow classmate"?

Does the word "fellow" add any information?

Cabbies don’t pick up Al Roker because in real life he is a big crab and who knows? maybe a bad tipper. And he’s not nice to fans - I’ve seen him in action.

Racism isn’t illegal as far as I know. Whether it’s wise or not is another issue, but until the thought police are fully deployed, it’s not illegal.

Discrimination is illegal.

The affliction we should worry about is witchhuntism. Seems like people everywhere and in all times need somebody to persecute. You see it on the playground, in the rest home, in the prison, the asylum, the classroom, the boardroom, the lifeboat ...everywhere.

One problem is perceived racism where there was none, the other is the insanity that comes with "Zero Tolerance" policies.
Far to often it leads to draconian punishments for even trivial "infractions".
On one hand we teach our kids that anything goes, we have to be tolerant, and then suddenly nothing goes.
How are kids supposed to learn values under these circumstances? It's like walking on a minefield.
We are dealing with kids, we are supposed to TEACH them what is acceptable and what's not.
There should be a policy of a sane, measured and age-appropriate response instead.
And of course, asking a kid if he's from Africa should not be an offense, any more than asking if he's from Switzerland.

The sooner our candidates understand that the majority of Americans REALLY don’t give a sht about “racism”, the sooner we can start fixing the country.

HUH ???

The inquisitive boy asked a fellow classmate, “Are you brown because you come from Africa?”

The question that should be asked is would he be racist if he saw a little GREEN ET-looking guy step out of a space ship in the school hall-way and said to him: "Are you GREEN because you come from Mars?"

: )

Mrs. White owes her son an apology for subjecting him to abuse by strangers. Ignorance of what schools do to children will, for her, no longer be an excuse.

It’s a shame the boy had to suffer while his mother learned this lesson. But I trust her love for him will now prompt her to remove him from this abusive situation.

We should use the same tactic with the race mongers on the left as they used to cover up for the communists in the McCarthy era.

McCarthy was demonized. Anyone who accuses another person of communist leanings is equated with McCarthy, and the actual truth of the accusation is never addressed.
The same should be done with those playing the race card,
though to demonize a black racist like they did with McCarthy would be using tactics that we won’t use.

McCarthy was right, though. There WERE devout communists in the government and hollywood, to an infinitely higher degree than there are “racists” amongst the conservative movement.

Interesting post; so......if she were in the U.S., a neighbor could refer her to CPS for persecution on the grounds that she’d intentionally subjected her child to abuse by enrolling him in a Public School!

That line of logic could do wonders for the effort to get anglo/christian kids out of Public school! Know a Northern European-American Christian kid in a public school? Turn his/her parents into CPS for persecution on the grounds that they’ve intentionally subjected their kid to child abuse at the hands of the Public School officials! The idiot Gov’t types will be tied in knots for months!

People who "play the race card" need to be laughed out of the game.

More and more I see folks I know laughing that the non-stop accusations of "racism."

The effect of the accusation is wearing off.

This will have the effect of the dealers of the race card to up the ante and demand criminal penalties be imposed based only on their accusation.

We will see some nasty retaliation from that. Folks are getting less sensitive to the accusation and more fed up with the situation in general. They are putting up with the attempt to communize America, skyrocketing prices on everything, taxes going up to fund government checks to the very same bunch that are pointing fingers at them screeching "racist" and soon they simply will not react at all to the accusation.

That is when the left will resort to widespread physical attacks instead of just accusations. It is already starting is some areas and invariable the leftist attacker believes they are "justified" in their actions.

When the leftists demand the attacks are "justified" is when the "fur will fly" for real.

.
