Gingrich crushing the field in Georgia
The Hill ^ | February 25, 2012 | Jonathan Easley

Newt Gingrich has a double-digit lead over the rest of the GOP field in his home state of Georgia, according to a Landmark-Rosetta Stone poll released late Friday.

Gingrich took 38 percent, followed by Rick Santorum at 25 percent, Mitt Romney at 19 percent, and Ron Paul at four percent, the poll found.

Gingrich held a nine-point lead in the same poll taken earlier this month. The poll could be an outlier – Gingrich leads by only two points in Georgia according to the latest Insider Advantage survey and leads by five points according to Rasmussen.

Both of those polls show a much tighter race between Gingrich, Romney and Santorum.

Georgia voters will head to the polls along with nine other states on Super Tuesday on March 6.

The strong lead is good news for the former House speaker and bad news for Romney, who is also polling in third place in Oklahoma, which will also vote on Super Tuesday.

The other March 6 contests are in Alaska, Idaho, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia.

Some have speculated that the battering Santorum took at Wednesday’s debate in Arizona, in which Paul and Romney took turns hammering his record as a Senator, may have opened the door for another potential Gingrich surge.

But Gingrich will have to show strength outside of his home state, where he has the strongest network of campaign infrastructure.

I sure hope so. I think we can reach a common bond and unite behind Newt....something I don’t think will happen with Romney or Santorum.

The good news here is that we are pushing Romney below 20%. If he ends up below 20%, he’ll get no state-wide delegates, and if Santorum can come in 2nd in the districts, Romney won’t win any district delegates either.

He’s the one most likely to win in November. I fear Romney will “mature” as the MSM puts it...and allow Obama and the leftwing media to set the agenda of the campaign.

Newt would never do that. He’s a fighter.

Good reason to not fall for voting for Santorum to keep Romney from winning. Vote your own support no matter who thinks what.

This is why my friends and I will be voting for Santorum in Tennessee. I think the real loser in the last debate was not Santorum, but Romney. I think he would have had to convince people he was more genuine that Santorum, an impossible task. The big difference in the polls is that some Romney voters have moved to Newt.

Santorum is up two points. Most of Newt’s gain is from Romney and undecided.

A vote for Romney is a vote for Obama-Lite (SOS)!
