Moderator, this headline is not based on fact but on supposition...Newt did not say to vote for Santorum in MI.
It is more like the headline in a vanity post.
I am a Newt supporter and I have not interpreted other remarks by Newt to mean this. If I were in MI I would vote for Newt.

People should have supported Bachmann. Then there wouldn’t a division between Newt and Santorum Supporters. But there is a reason why things happen. Nobody was going to agree. A core of people attacked Bachmann too...mainly Perry people.

Well, we will see who laughs last. Only thing it will not be very funny. I have been watching closely and trying my best to get excited about Rick Santorum. I am afraid the general election might turn out that way, the more I listen the worse I feel about life in general Rick. I am a Newt supporter who WILL vote for Rick Santourm if I have to in a general election. I have lived through many a political storm and know how often people say someone can’t win, and how often they are wrong. I have said myself about a few people who have won. Having said that, I do not see any pathway for Rick Santorum, not even through his own home state. And I openly and honestly hope I am wrong if he is nominated. But I don’t think so.

I’d feel better about it coming down to Newt and Romney. The impression I get, particularly talking to friends and associates who you’d categorize as independants, is that Newt or Romney could win, but picturing Santorum winning a national election is a much bigger leap of faith and I’d rather take as few chances as possible with this one.
Bachmann attacked Perry, big time, with overblown nonsense about gardasil and helpless little girl victims and unverifiable sob story reports that a mother said her child became retarded only after receiving gardasil...not in TX, of course, because it never happened there.
She also accused him of only initially “going there” because of a campaign donation from the drug maker.
Innocent victim, or self destructive candidacy??
After that, she made many missteps and inadvertent misstatements, and she attacked EVERYONE in an unpresidential manner that made many voters CRINGE.

Before she did that, I posted repeated defense of her against others here who demeaned her from the start.
I am having as many problems with those supporting Rick as with Rick himself.
1. Give it up, Rick Santorum is not Ronald Reagan, not even close. He can not communicate like Ronnie and he does not have his persoanl warmth. Can he get better, yes. Can he get enough better to win. He hasn’t yet.
2. You can not turn Rick Santorum into a fiscal conservative no matter how hard you try. Admittedly there are not many true fiscal conservatives around. Ron Paul is the closest we have and he disqualifies himself with a naviee view of radical Islam. So support him but stop trying to tell me he is something he ain’t.
3. Rick’s rise in the polls is due to a lack of anyone that his supporters deem worthy. Hey, I am with them on Romney, I will not support him either. But they build up Rick in their minds because they are desperate for someone to come in a save the day. Can Rick do that, I have grave doubts.
4. Rick’s supporters see family values as having 1 wife and a nice family, supporting pro life positions and traditional marriage. I concur and it is Rick’s strong suit. Is it enough to get him elected. Not if he does not learn a better way of telling people who disagree with him why he will be their President too. Yes, that is important.
5. Rick Santourm’s baggage is just as heavy as all the rest of the candidates, just different. Like it or not, Rick has said things in the past (most of which I agree)that sound extreme. Not because they are, but because of the way he says them.
6. Ricks raise in the polls was impressive but very sharp. He can fall just as quickly.
Number Four Point says it all.
1. I don’t think Rick is Reagan and have not said that.
2. I am not saying that Santorum is a true fiscal conservative. I am demonstrating factually that he has consistantly been better than Newt. Ron Paul is better, but he has significant other issues that prevent me from supporting him.
3. I have doubts about Newt and Rick. Right now conservatives seem to only have a choice between those two. I think people should know the truth about their fiscal records.
Well, I was not talking to you exclusively. I am just saying it in general. If I posted it directly to you then look at may tag line: illerate, noobie. I do that all the time. It is a rather general comment. And because of that it will not hit anyone exactly. It is just my observations.
I don’t remember any of Rick’s people suggesting they vote for Newt in FL to stop Romney. I am real tired of this, don’t vote for Newt vote for little Ricky so we can stop Romney, crap. That is all we have heard on this site since Ricky’s “big” wins a couple of weeks ago. If your boy can’t seal the deal on his own then he doesn’t deserve to win. I urge everybody to vote their conscience and support the candidate of their choice and let the best man win.
Yes, point four is often overlooked by Rick’s supporters. It is because they don’t think it is important that people who are not voting for Rick at least feels somewhat comfortable with him. It is one of the reasons Obama is in so much trouble. Even people like me who would never vote for him truly believe he is a very dangerous man and needs to be stopped at all costs. Motivating the other side is dangerous business in politics. Rick Santorum would motivate the other side I am afraid. Ronald Reagan made those even that would not support him fairly confrotable most of the time. LOL

This obstinate line of thinking would lead to exactly the same result as in 2008. A vote for Newt in Michigan is a vote AGAINST Newt for the nomination. To contend that Rick Santorum is being weakened and is going to drop out is delusional.
I’m no hypocrite on this nor am I being disingenuous. I supported Santorum but voted for Newt here in Florida and urged all my friends and readers to do the same. Here is my Youtube, time-stamped proof with the words coming out of my mouth the morning of the Florida primary:

CHICAGO (WLS) - When Newt Gingrich calls Barack Obama the best food stamp president in history, he intends it as an insult, but to the Reverend Jesse Jackson, it’s not such a bad thing to be called.
Gingrich routinely on the campaign trail refers to Obama as the Food Stamp president, claiming that there has been a major expansion of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and that the program is rife with abuses.
Rev. Jackson used his regular Saturday morning service at the Rainbow PUSH headquarters on the South Side this weekend to put a different spin in Gingrich’s remarks. Jackson said, “It’s an honor to be a food stamp president.” Speaking to his congregation, Rev. Jackson listed the benefits of the program, which has grown some sixty-one percent over the past four years. About forty-six million people now receive food assistance,

I remember making phone calls to Iowa for Fred Thompson in 2008. It was common to hear something like the following: “I really like Fred Thompson, in fact he is my first choice, but I’m voting for Huckabee because it is the only way to stop McCain”.
When you are blessed with the opportunity of voting earlier than some other states, please vote for who you prefer and ignore the polls. Otherwise, what is the point of having state by state primaries?

To compare this to the Bush situation is way off. If anything, it should be compared to the plague of Mitt Romney. Romney, like Bush was the establishment candidate who was coroneted by the establishment so early on in 2000 that there was basically no primary from the beginning. I remember I was hosting talk radio here in Palm Beach Country during that time and I was a Alan Keyes supporter. It was very frustrating.
I can’t get over SOME of the Newt and Rick supporters who think that their candidate is soooo pure. The truth is that Newt and Rick both have some embarrassing compromises (like global warming pimping) but both have vastly conservative records when you look at the entire body of their work.
If conservatives in either the Santorum or Gingrich camp were to truly follow through with the level of purity to the degree that they make almost puritanical pretense – they would not be able to vote for ANY of the present candidates without betraying themselves as flagrant hypocrites.
The fact is that we have to cast aside any infatuations or self-pride, look at their work in entirety and admit they have made mistakes. Then we have use our God given brains and defeat the socialist Romney.
People who cannot abrogate their high-flown pride to the degree necessary are clearly vulnerable to the same type of crush and infatuation as those who support Mitt Romney. Amidst the obvious quandary the present situation presents to us, there is only one option on how to counter with any success. That is to defeat Mitt Romney on Tuesday.

I could care less which one of the two conservatives (Newt or Rick) win - as long as it is NOT Mitt Romney who wins.

Here I am on the MORNING of the election (posted this at about 1am before the FL primary) here I am explaining that I support Santorum BUT AM VOTING FOR GINGRICH - and asked everyone to do the same.
So, since I’m so cunning, I guess you would say that I hacked into Youtube days after the Florida primary and changed the TIME-STAMPED upload date so I could make it APPEAR I did that before the FL primary just so I could come here today and ask conservative voters in MI to do what I did - vote for the conservative who is close to DEFEATING Romney in that state.
You need to get over your man-crush and use your intelligence. The dimiutive amount of delegates Newt could gain from his 8% in Michigan would be far outweighed by the benefit of taking Mitt Romney out of this race.
