The “Hispanic vote bogyman” threat is actually a Democrat problem not ours

It’s election time so that means Democrats rolls out one of its favorites weapons: the “Hispanic vote bogyman” threat. The script goes this way: The Democrat supporting Hispanics dictate a demand list to Republicans then watch them squirm and pander.

To add some salsa to the threat they promise retaliation at the polls if Republicans dare to ignore them.

This kind of knuckling under has never gone well for Republicans.

Endless concessions and saying things like, “We’ll give your cousin amnesty. We’ll give your kids our kids’ college classroom seats – and throw in our jobs food stamps and ignore your past voter fraud; but please vote for us” rarely wins us Hispanic support but rarely fails to anger our base who sometimes stay home on Election Day.

Every cycle Hispanic voters thank us for the goodies laugh behind our back and vote Democrat anyway. Chasing votes we will never get is a fool’s errand. Let the Party of Fear do the pandering – it’s their specialty; and besides Hispanic threats of reprisals at the ballot box are toothless anyway.

How much of a threat is there?

A new Latino Fox News poll shows likely Hispanic voters support Barack Obama by a stunning six to one. This makes them as out of reach as Black voters.

Nevertheless, with the possible exception of Florida their geographic distribution does much to blunt their threat as a voting bloc. No matter how Hispanics vote Obama will win New York, California and Illinois and lose Texas.

“….Obama won’t be within the 3% margin necessary for voter fraud to work. This window is closing for the Democrats as 40 states are actively working to stop voter fraud by Hispanics or anybody. Moreover a Rasmussen survey shows 69%..... favor …. photo ID....

The totally lopsided support for Obama among Hispanics actually liberates us because we don't have to kiss their butts with promises. This coupled with their low enthusiasm to vote means Democrats have to do the butt kissing. We don't get their vote just as we don't get Black votes/ We don't court Black voters and these numbers prove we don't have to risk angering our base by pandering to either group. Let's leave the pandering to the experts in the donkey party.

The one in six Hispanic voters who don't demand more free stuff are part of our base anyway. We still need to treat them respectfully just as we need to treat other conservative minorities respectfully, be they conservative blacks, American Indians, Jews or Mormons.

But said respect involves live and let live, not more free stuff.

If they manage to be part of the losing side their loss needs to have consequences. Bad consequences.

True enough. An American hispanic co worker once told me that he doesn't like the increased suspicion that he might be an illegal but says he holds the same suspicion about hispanics. He says he can't hold a grudge against white Americans for a suspicion created by the illegals.

He can pretty effectively prove citizenship even when he isn't carrying his ID because as a life long citizen he's left a trail through life. He knows where he was born, where he went to school, where he's lived and where he's worked. There's plenty of info that's easily confirmed.

...6 to 1? Maybe 60 - 40. Hispanics generally don't like blacks - the more Obama panders to blacks, the more his latino vote shrinks.

I vividly remembered Dick Morris going on CNN right after Obmatard won in 2008 that there is no way the GOP can take the 2010 elections as the Hispanics supposedly voted in droves which helped Obamatard..

2010 elections went GOP’s way..

In 2008, if John McCain had received 60 percent [vice 55 percent] of the “white vote,” he would have won even if Barack Obama had received the entire Hispanic vote. Credible surveys indicate that the major policy concerns of Hispanics/Latinos were no different than the concerns of non-Hispanics/Latinos. The economy and jobs topped the list.

There is little evidence that immigration policy was an influential factor in Hispanics’/Latinos’ choice between the two candidates once basic party predispositions are taken into account. The size of the Latino voting population should be kept in perspective alongside other subsets of the electorate. An estimated 11.8 million voters were of Latino ancestry, compared with 17 million African Americans, 19.7 million veterans, 23.6 million young people, 45 million conservatives, and 34 million born-again white Christians.
