Romney-Ryan?
The Evening Standard ^ | March 20, 2012 | FRED BARNES

Romney-Ryan? MAR 21, 2012 • BY FRED BARNES Mitt Romney is close to finishing off his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination, talk of a brokered GOP convention in August, and the prospect of a new candidate suddenly entering the contest.

This would be a political hat trick once it happens, and the moment is likely to come quite soon, now that Romney has won an overwhelming victory in the Illinois primary. It would take a collapse of historic proportions for Romney to be denied the nomination.

Could that happen? Sure. But the chances are mighty slim. Rick Santorum would have to whip Romney in the big state primaries—California, New Jersey, New York—and also in states like Maryland, Delaware, Oregon, Connecticut, Wisconsin, and Utah.

As things now stand in the campaign, Santorum is more likely to lose all but one or two of these states than he is to capture a majority of them. Pressure for Santorum to drop out, quietly at first, is probably not far off.

Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul—forget them. Gingrich responded to Romney’s win in Illinois by whining about what he said was Romney’s 7-to-1 advantage in spending, as if it were improper. Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said this was like accusing a basketball team of cheating because its players are too tall.

Well I see the Weekly Sub Standard is still shilling for Mitt. They should have to register as an official lobbyist group.

I know he’s not. He’s a liberal.

But a strong conservative cabinet could keep his worst instincts in check.

As far as tyranny goes, everything that Obama is trying to do on a national scale, Romney has already accomplished on a state level. Ask the churches in Massachusetts about tyranny and having their principles and values stomped on. Romney has already done it. I don’t care if there were 100% democrats in Massachusetts, Romney was governor, the ideas were his and his signature is on the bills. If he had any problem with what was done, he would have never have proposed those solutions and/or never would have signed them but instead would have let them override his veto.

Ask the conservatives of Massachusetts how well Mitt can be persuaded. He stabbed them in the back at every turn. He left the republican party in shambles. That, plus the fact that he is the easiest candidate for Obama to defeat, makes him the ideal candidate for the democrats. Obama has been gearing up to run against Romney since 2008 and many conservatives have no idea what Romney’s real record is. They will be apoplectic when they find out Mitt’s proud Massachusetts record of achievements and there will be plenty of video tape of him crowing about them to back the democrats up.

I know the kind of judges Mitt will appoint, and I know he has no love for the Constitution. I understand your desire to pretend that Mitt has no past history of performance in this area. It can be quite frightening for those being deceived when they realize their choice is between a marxist communist and a Fabian socialist. But then that is not a choice conservatives have to accept.

Sort of a start type treaty monitoring in the republican party.
The CCCP always cheated or ignored it at their whim. What would keep mitt from doing likewise.
Sadly I fear, nothing. He slides back to the RINO clothing in a flash.
How often does a fox voluntarily leave the hen house once he gets in? (to mix metaphors.)

Yeah, that’s their propaganda - he’s electable. Nothing about his liberal record. Romeycare/obamacare - It speaks alot about the GOP E and where they stand. Romney is the equivalent of the liberals barry. Many of them were fooled, also. His change wasn’t they had in mind when he said ‘change’.

There is nothing about Patriotism nor OUR COUNTRY in the GOP E. They are all about Party and not America and lie their way through. I don’t want any part of them or their candidates.

And WILL NOT taint myself or AMERICA/Our forefathers, our patriots with pulling a lever for LIAR Romney. IMO, he represents satan as he is the father of lies along with pawn barry. Satan sets himself up through lies! NOT on my vote he won’t.

EXACTLY!! Can you hear them/media watchers now 'I had no idea, all I heard was 'electable' - never thought they would deceive me'? History repeated itself because stupid is as stupid does.

I am concerned if Romney is the nominee because unfortunately there are some people who refuse to vote for a Mormon. I find it sad. I am sure that is not pleasing in God’s eyes. As far as religion goes, a Mormon versus a person who sat in the church with Jeramiah White? There is no comparison. Put the focus on Obama and his religion or lack thereof.

These people don't care about God. Those are the ones who will be swayed by a 30 second sound byte per my point.

OTOH, their original doctrine designated entire ethnic groups as being cursed resulting in their dark skin. Someone else can defend that belief to God on judgement day. I'm having enough trouble trying to explain it to my kids, especially the brown Brad Pitt looking one. "Sorry son, their doctrine states you're descent of the lamanites and cursed..."

"Thanks dad!"

Even Jesus was likely moreno or darker, as many Semites were.

Think 30 second sound byte that will be hammered into the collective American consciousness 24/7 if romney becomes the nominee.

Think pulverized by the media. That's what's going to happen.

I admit I know very little about the Mormon religion. I would respond with Jeremiah Wright. American’s chickens have come home to roost...in reference to 9/11 over and over and over.

Furthermore, Obama has a record that he can run on and it is probably one of the most dismal records anyone can run on. Energy costs are up. Unemployment is up. Food stamp usage is up. Deficit and debt are up. Corruption is up. Standard of living is down. It is unfortunate that the media does not report all of Obama’s wrong doings, because he would be in prison along with many of his czars.

Fox News and other media should have a daily count that senate democrats have had no budget...1000 days and counting.

I've been in a situation where I was compelled to do basic research. My kids were curious having been exposed to the missionaries and other followers. In truth, good and decent people, at least the ones I'm related to through family/marriage.

So we did research to understand their perspective on faith.

That's when we ran into some things that I cannot possibly reconcile myself with, and pretty much turned my kids off forever. We'll ask the next couple of missionaries who stop by. We usually offer water, which we'll still do, but we'll have questions ready. I'll let the kids ask them. I mean the cursed Lamanites ask them. I wouldn't be so gruff, but it really digs at me.

This cartoon delves into the original doctrine, which is not discussed at length outside of their group.
