Why Are Conservatives So Shocked At Ryan and Rubio? The Evidence Was There All Along
PolitiJim.com ^ | 3-31-2012 | PolitiJim (@politiJim)

Like everyone else, PolitiJim heard the rumblings of the Ryan-Rubio Romney rubber stamps starting on Wednesday night.  If you’re a PolitiJim reader, and you think I was riled, rankled or upset, you need either new reading glasses or some ginkgo biloba.

I’ve had Twitter friends assume the race is all over now.  I’ve had fellow patriots speculate on whether we should quit trying to fight for Newton Leroy, and even conservative headlines this morning about the “death” of conservative movement and post mortems galore.

What are you so shocked about?

I wrote of the betrayal of Mike Ryan three times.  The first was during the Boehner budget ceiling debate when Mike Ryan and Allen West caved to the $1 Trillion defense cuts and would not “hold the line” with DeMint and Bachmann and the Tea Party 22Mike Ryan was not with us.

Second was when he let Newt squirm on the false accusations of Newt’s “social engineering” statement (that proved justified from the restult of Ryan budget plan 2.0).   A conservative committed to truth wouldn’t allow a fellow conservative who had just profusely praised his plan 3 days earlier in print and interviews to hang like that.  It was a flag to me that Ryan either had personally not taken the effort to listen to the David Gregory interview, has thin skin and a bigger ego than believed, or has an entirely other selfish agenda.   I’m LEAST likely to believe the last one.  But again, Mike Ryan was not with us.

I submit there is a difference. Romney’s heath care had an individual mandate to buy health insurance, put in by the state, which is constitutional. Obama’s had one by the fed which is unconstitutional.

No politician can change the heart of our nation. Our nation is bankrupt spiritually, financially, and culturally. The majority deny this truth or don’t comprehend it. It is immoral to pass debts, difficulties, and obligations to our children, but that is what we are doing.

If the GOP recognized the truth and made the hard decisions they would be voted out in the next election. It would take 25 years of discipline and huge cuts in government spending, entitlements, and pensions. We are not capable of that my FRiend.

The Tea Party is taking over the GOP.

We need to remove the GOP leadership and the whole structure that supports them.

My congressman is a second time freshman and has hinted about the balance he needs to avoid being tossed overboard a second time. He was stripped of funds in 08 after voting against TARP and the bailouts and went on to lose to the democrat by 2% of the vote. (That in itself tells me that the GOP has no problem punishing us uppity conservatives with a democrat if need be)

Pay attention to who the RINO Elites name as their 'rising stars' in the GOP. These are the same type as McCain & Romney.

Being in the Republican party dooms us to a forever list of their future candidate picks for President - if we are lucky enough to have ANY future elections at all.

PLEASE, guys, if you are going to make a point, get the names straight. This kind of writing, while we might know who Ryan is, looks like maybe the author isn’t quite as up on things as he is trying to say.Yet another bullet in the left’s ammo box. DON’T give the left a reason to mock us.

Actually, I think a lot of folks on the right will mock him for this. Mike Ryan? Not just once, but four different times in the same blogpost?? What that rather strongly suggest is that he's just shooting from the hip, because nobody who actually did enough reading to blast Paul Ryan fairly could possibly mess it up that badly.

Here's the truth about Ryan and Rubio -- they think it critically important to defeat Obama, believe that Romney is the inevitable nominee at this point, and so think the best way to maximize his chance of winning is to unite behind him now.

They may be wrong about that, but that isn't an inherently immoral or corrupt position. It's a pragmatic one of making the best of a bad set of options. And if we're going turn on guys like Ryan, who pushed the most bold conservative economic plan in at least a decade, there's no hope for us. We might as well form the circular firing squad right now, and cede the Presidency, House, and Senate to the Democrats.

Absolutely true. We can't expect Washington to be ethical and honest if we aren't that way ourselves. Every single day I see conservatives complain about liberals only to turn right around and behave the same way themselves.

Obviously, the state mandate is even more dangerous than the federal mandate because it IS constitutional.

I am betting that Obama is counting on Romney winning the GOP primary so that Obama can call for states to enact their own state mandate to back up the federal health care law, and I’m betting that Obama wants Romney to clinch the nomination before the Supreme court rules that the federal mandate is unconstitutional and throws out the whole law.

If Obama gets to keep the Obamacare, minus the federal mandate and calls for the states to enact their own mandates, Obama will have a real chance at winning re-election.

Rubio denounced the Tea Party as soon as he got to DC. He opposed Arizona illegal immigrant law. Ryan wanted to use the Tea Party to cut social security, but other that, he’s had nothing to do with the TP.

None of them are concerned with the restoring the consitution by axing departments and returning functoins to states.

Obama vs. Romney - a communist or a fascist.

Not much of a choice for a conservative!

I would dearly love to disagree with you, but you are correct. That is why I anticipate the Soviet style collapse of the US gov at some point in this century. It is rotted, getting worse, and no one will effect the repairs. Eventually it will collapse. Fini.

I might go along with Paul Ryan being ‘pragmatic’. But Rubio was bought and paid for by romney early on. There is nothing pragmatic about it.
