So, what’s the alternative? Obama? Don’t think so.
WTF? I don’t like Romney at all, but there is no way in hell I oppose him if he becomes the nominee. That is suicide! We cannot survive 4 more years of Obama, but that is what what we will get if we keep pushing crap like this.
Obama must be defeated at all costs.
The eventual GOP nominee will be running against a man who HATES white people, hates Christians, hates Jews, hates America and would love to destroy capitalism.
I will crawl to the voting booth to vote for whomever is running against Obama.
If this Dumb A$$ party sends him to the General election, I WILL change to the Independent Party and waste my vote....hows that for being pissed off!!!
If this Dumb A$$ party sends him to the General election, I WILL change to the Independent Party and waste my vote....hows that for being pissed off!!!
Because they’d rather watch Obama destroy America and then sit around reminding us “I told you so”.....
Ping for your input
If Romney is the nominee, that will suck.
Because Romney sucks and Obama sucks.
I guess I’d have to either decide who sucks most...
OR.. if we’re being driven inevitably into a ditch, would it
perhaps be better to let the driver with the “D” after his
name be the one to do it? Or not?
Any way you look at it, opposition to WHOMEVER our nominee
is helps only Obama. There are no knights in shining armor
riding in to save the day at the last moment. You betcha.
Quite the conundrum.
see #4 above
Further, a Romney presidency may even be WORSE than a second Obama term. At least with Obama in office, the Republicans have grown a little bit of a spinelet and fought him on some things, and really have served to hinder a lot of what Obama *could* have done. With Romney in office, it'll be 2000-2006 all over again - they will go right along with everything Romney proposes (which won't differ in substance, if only somewhat in degree), since he's "our" President. We could actually end up even DEEPER in socialism, debt, and trouble by the end of it all than with Obama.
It's not what we want; but at least Romney loves this country and, as they say, "has already forgotten" more about its history than Obama will ever know.
You know, if all of the so-called "conservatives" who have resigned themselves to simply rolling over and accepting Romney were to actually get together and all vote for a credible, broad-based conservative alternative, that alternative would probably have a very good chance of winning.
The only thing worse than a Mitt Romney presidency is an Obama Presidency. I’m not a Romney fan, but I’m not ready to commit haraki and hand Obama another four years.
Better to have Obama that can be opposed in both the House and the Senate on principled issues than to have Romney who really can't be opposed because he will be the de facto party leader. Better the enemy without than the one within.
Also, for the long term GOP direction, the party bosses need to learn that they cant win elections with a RINO. You simply MUST have the support of your base to win elections.
Symbolism is everything.
Perception is everything.
If Romney wins it will not be a Conservative victory. I think most conservatives get that.
However?
If Obama wins IT WILL BE A LIBERAL VICTORY!
And, more to the point, Obama wants to completely destroy the profit motive, making it very hard for Conservatism to finance itself.
We can live to fight another day, with Romney as President.
Obama might not let us live.
Financially, or literally.
I’ll spend my time opposing hussein instead. I hope that still makes me a conservative.
Excellent post, YC. Romney won’t win. However, if it were to happen, he’d be a liberal big spender, an appointer of liberal justices, and a political hack who would force the dead carcass of obamacare onto the nation.
The anyone exc Barry line presupposes ORomney is somehow different in a better way. He isn’t, he’s no different than Barry. Perhaps he’s not an overt hater of this country but a hater nonetheless. ORomney is for himself and a small cliche of elites who will continue robbing the American people. Its not a liberal-conservative Thing any longer. Its all about those who would be king vs free men. Voting for ORomney is no different than voting for Barry. The outcome will be identical. Unless the electorate begins to engaged their brain nothing will ever change.
If Obama win, Dems win the Senate and like the House also!
There has to be a strategy that says ‘Vote for Mitt cause of the Supreme Court, but otherwise we oppose him’. And maybe I have just hit on it. Make this about voting for a Constitutionalist Supreme Court.
The GOPe must be made to pay dearly. They need to die, die, die. A bunch of crony capitalists.
How’s that different from 2008?
Perception is everything...but only for about a week.
Agree anybody but Obama.
I accept that Romney has no real political ideology beyond pragmatism. He governed as a moderate/liberal in MA because that’s what he ran as, and what the electorate of MA wanted. I expect he will govern as a moderate/conservative if elected, because that’s what he’s running as, and what the national electorare wants. Not my ideal, but way better than BHO.
But of course! That has long been the plan of Kamikaze Conservatives on this forum. They are more interested in litmus tests and making statements, than winning elections. Somehow they've never learned that elections must be won before policy can be implemented or changed.
Barry Goldwater suffered the same consequences. He gave great speeches but never was able to implement policy.
Compare that with Ronald Reagan. Dutch knew which battles were winnable and engaged in the art of compromise to gain all that was gainable. He didn't waste time and political capital on the side shows.
Not sure how well that strategy would turn out for us. Have you seen Romney's picks for the MA courts?
Either this is a sick joke or you are working with the Obama Campaign. So you are willing to watch the destruction of our country continue with The Zero.
Sorry if your chosen candidate didn't run or didn't do well. Among those who did run - Romney got the most Republican primary voters to vote for him.
You can decry the Republican electorate if you must - but lets not blame anybody BUT them for the fact that Romney is almost certain to receive the GOP nomination.
It is better to be pissed off than to be pissed on.
I will be voting for Willard as the proverbial lesser of 2 evils - just like I did for McCain last time around. I expect that to be the case in most elections anyway. 2 party systems with no opportunity for coalition government means rarely will we have a candidate to be truly excited about. It is what it is.
See #7 in the article. Romney appointed liberal justices.
If Federal Court judges were elected to office and served for fixed terms, I’d agree. If congressional elections were held on a different day from presidential elections, thereby minimizing the down-ticket effects of a Democratic presidential victory, I’d agree. Since neither is the case, I think I’ll stick with whomever the GOP nominee is, even if it turns out to be Romney. He’s not ideal, but he’ll do. I don’t see how I can realistically expect perfection in a politician when 100m other people also have a say.
Romney is equivalent to being boiled slow.
Obama is a fast boil.
Either way, we are cooked. I had just as soon get to the breaking point and get it over with.
I will hold my nose and vote for a GOP liberal......ever.
Now that Obama has been exposed as a Socialist, it will kill the Conservative movement if Obama wins another term.
It might also kill our ability to ever recover, as Obama is ruthless and hates our country and hates Capitalism.
One reason: SUPREME COURT JUSTICES
When Obama gets his next term and appoints maybe 3 radical leftist judges, thereby sealing the death of America, it will be in large part because of idiots who sat home (like they did with McCain), because they were “principled.”
You will have a lot of blood on your hands.
1. Romney is not an “imperfect conservative.” He’s not a conservative at all and never has been.
2. Romney appointed the most activist kind of liberal justices. See #7 in the article.
Romney is the equivalent to being boiled slow.
Obama is a fast boil.
Either way, we are cooked.
I had just as soon get to the breaking point and get it over with.
I will NOT hold my nose and vote for a GOP liberal......ever.
I oppose Romney now. I support Santorum. I plan to continue along this path. We do not currently have a nominee, so I do not need to formally re-evaluate my position at this time.
Before this becomes relevant, you first have to win elections with somebody who has the right principles. Winning an election with a liberal simply means that you'll have a liberal Republican pushing liberal policies, which sort of makes the whole thing an exercise in futility.
The whole reason we can talk about "Reagan did this" and "Dutch did that" is because Reagan - the conservative - got elected.
Yes, you have to win elections before you get to make policy. But you have to win elections with the right people before you get to make the right policy. Unfortunately, with Romney, that's not going to happen.
See #7 in the above article. Romney appointed ONLY liberal judges.
I think I’ll add #9 — Romney is a liar.
That would be doing just what the left would want you to do! I will gladly vote for Romney against Obama. Romney was far from what I wanted but he will be the nominee and so be it. We have to deal with the cards we are dealt unless anyone has a better suggestion?
I’m on your side.
I’ll oppose Romney all the way to the general election if he is the candidate.
I’m not voting for the Crypto-Communist, or his 2nd Cousin, the lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal Mitt Romney.
Romney is it....hold your nose, close your eyes, hum to your self...but in the end WE NEED TO GET THE DICTATOR OUT OF OFFICE....
some of you pray for everything....why can't we just get rid of bamey and then pray for Romney?....
Oh, great. Then we can support Obama instead and get a 5th and 6th Communist appointed to the Supreme Court, at which point the entire Constitution is deader than a doornail, and all personal liberty is a thing of the past. Can anyone say National Progressive Fascism?
Absolutely agree. Anyone, including Romney, is better than Obama!!!
He can be pressured to appoint conservative justices, at least there is that chance.
Obama will destroy this country. Period.
If you think we can survive four more years of Obama, you are truly an idiot.
And if you and people like you sit home, that is what will happen. And it will be on you. Personally, people like you make me sick.
No. Get him elected, then oppose him. We’re clearly going to have to send some men to the house and senate that will lead from there. Mitt will do what he’s told, if we have the numbers. And after that, we will OWN the republican party.
Amen, SoCon. I’m sick of the “hold-my-nose” vote. Never again.
Romney is not now and never has been a conservative.
