Why America is Devolving Towards Absolute Government Control
Canada Free Press ^ | Sunday, April 15, 2012 | Kelly OConnell

The relentless encroachment of socialism upon America’s economic, cultural and governmental landscape is like a bad dream to most red-blooded Americans. When society changes it can seem like the ineluctable drift of evolution or chance. But in the case of America’s ongoing continued expansion of government powers, spiking taxes, and shrinking military, it’s all part of a planned elitist push into socialism. And one need not believe in secret conspiracies when contemplating this shift. In fact, for those paying attention, it was all outlined long ago by the Fabian Socialist society, and other groups such as the Frankfurt School, as explained below.

I. Basic Socialism: History & Dogma

Socialism is a European phenomenon, beginning after the French Revolution with writers from Paris and London forming the core. The definition of socialism is: “a centrally planned economy in which the government controls all means of production.” While most believe Karl Marx (1818-1883) was the father of socialism, he wrote very few specifics on the topic. In fact, one of Marx’s most signal shortcoming was his failure to describe his own working economic system. Instead, it was Vladimir Lenin (1870-1924), first leader of the new USSR who developed the theory in situ, according to the Library of Economics & Liberty. Lenin’s attempts at creating a profit-free economy was a spectacular failure, only bettered by Joseph Stalin’s larger failure.

I think it is the knee jerk reaction of all. We see something we don’t like and we want to collectively put a stop to it. That is how government grows.

I saw today tweets on about SF story on a Hustler mobile stripper van being parked in some neighborhood. Few would like that next to their house and of course the reaction is more government. But that is how government gets bigger and bigger and bigger and how we get more and more and more laws on minute issues.

Slight nit to pick, devolve does not mean to de-evolve.

None of this really is important. If you want to know the answer, go to various FreeRepublic threads and you will see that even people who think they are very conservative want the government to step in when it suits their taste.

Ultimately, until more people learn that government is not the solution to every problem, that often the government makes things worse, often the government can not solve a problem, government will continue to grow. But in thread after thread even here, you see people demanding more government.

Terrific post and it should be read twice.

Greetings Paradox:

Although English shouldn’t be my first language, guessing the author chose the intransitive verb definition: Change gradually for the worse; decline; deteriorate.

This bit of timely wisdom from C.S. Lewis really sums up where we are at in these troubling times.

>>>an alternative headline would be, “Why Canada Free Press is hyperbolic nonsense”<<<

On the contrary. The article outlines ideological and philosophical beliefs held by many people, including people in positions of authority and influence. Ideas compel people to take action. Another way of saying that would be “words mean things.” (Not my original thought.)

You can relax in your illusion. The rest of us understand that the ideas outlined in this article are the foundation for decisions made in government, media, churches, and other organizations that will even influence you. In the best of all worlds, the ideas outlined in this article will be defeated and come and go without your notice, but, sadly, these ideas are just the modern expression of a very old human instinct for elites to seek societal control for utopian ends.

God help us.

Greetings JLS:

Thanks, the “Hustler Mobile Stripper” van story is a prefect analogy.

If people choose to ignore it, it would go away. Instead, complaints about the van only gave Larry Flynt a level of publicity that all of his slimy money could have never bought.

In fact, if I were a gambler, I might bet Flynt orchestrated the “complaints” simply for attention.

Cheers,
OLA

In my neck of the woods they replaced Coast to Coast with a right-of-center trucking show called Redeye Radio. I don’t even drive a truck, but now due to the advertising I know what fuel additives to buy for my rig, which tractors have the roomiest sleeping compartments, and what’s the best CB radio.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Many on this board don’t appreciate how what they advocate undermines the very principles of our founding fathers - however well meaning they completely ignore the Tenth Amendment.

“an alternative headline would be, “Why Canada Free Press is hyperbolic nonsense” “

Well! A free thinker at last. I agree, this is insultingly stupid. The Fabian Society? Oh my.

Communism has never been imposed without a violent revolution and, dare I say it, yes, without at least tacit consent by the bulk of the population. Russia, Cuba, China and so on. The idea that “Fabians” are at work to turn the US into a communist state by stealth is indeed one of those conspiracy theories that the author claims to disbelieve. It cannot work. The communist don’t believe it can work and it’s not their program. They want violence and revolution.

Also, the 45 points given, the communists were very big on family and anti-homosexual and so on.

Conservatives were not able to put up a substantive candidate and Romney had the most friends, the most money, and by far the best hair.

You think any part of this stuff was fair? Conservative candidates were eliminated, Chicago Style with innuendo, obvious Alinsky tactics, and the full support of the MSM, who will bring their guns to bear on Mitt if he is the nominee. How long do you think he'll last? He'll go down like the HMS Hood.

This election is the most important election in our lifetimes. If Obama is defeated for reelection, we have a chance to survive.

No, no, you got it all wrong.

If you were paying attention to FR, you would know this election is about defeating Romney.

Re:

Great graphic! Worth a thousand words. Did you create it?

It succinctly illustrates the insidious and extensive infiltration of 'cultural marxism' using the inherent weaknesses of human nature. There are times when I fear that our constitutional republic will not end with a bang but a whimper.
