White House: Romney Has a Core — and It’s Deeply Conservative (LOL)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | April 16, 2012 | Carol E. Lee

In the race to define Mitt Romney as he pivots from the Republican primary to the general election, President Barack Obama’s advisers are no longer making the case that the former Massachusetts governor has no “core.”

Instead, they are now arguing that all the conservative positions Mr. Romney has taken in the 2008 and 2012 presidential primaries reflect his true beliefs –- an effort to keep him from tacking to the center and appealing to independent voters, who are decisive in a general election.

If Mr. Romney were elected in November, a senior administration official said Monday, Americans would get a president who would: outlaw abortions, amend the Constitution to ban gay marriage, deport the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the U.S., veto the Dream Act that would give some immigrants a path to citizenship, adopt every conservative GOP economic and fiscal policy idea and extend America’s military engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The new effort to define Mr. Romney marks a shift for the Obama team, which has previously painted the former Massachusetts governor as a flip-flopper who takes positions purely to win elections. Last fall, Mr. Obama’s longtime political adviser David Axelrod told CBS that “there is no core to him” – a catchphrase he has frequently used since.

They so badly want to face Romney. They have had his number for over a year.

The only reason there is to vote for Mitt Romney is that we need a President and we don’t have one.

That is good enough to get my vote, although I don’t like being forced to do it by the left wing sector of the republican party.

Yep. he is the left's dream candidate.

What Mitt-bots don't comprehend or acknowledge is that Mitt will most certainly do nothing at all to slow our slide into rabid socialism.

If Mitt had an honest bone in his body he would drop out of the race and admit that he does not have the capability nor desire to take on big government and stop our slide into socialism. He wont because he knows in his heart he will propose "big programs" to leave his as his legacy.

Mitt desperately wants the Presidency for one reason -- Mitt's ego. Mitt will not lift a finger to steer our Republic towards Liberty. The State matters most to Mitt (after his ego); Liberty means nothing to him.

He is "severely" conservative, not "deeply" conservative.

He said so himself.

Agreed, but Romney had to run as a moderate to win the Pub primaries and now that appears in the bag he will start his “shift to the right”....waiting /sarc

Mitt could come to his senses and step down. Certainly he can see how Obama has managed to trash himself down to a legacy worthy of Jimmy Carter or Buchanan.

He could be down there in weeks if he were elected.

Romney has to be aware that there's NO THERE THERE!

Now's the time for him to redeem himself by declining the nomination, if offered, and go off to cut coupons and do philanthropy.

BS! This is meant to be a warm and fuzzy message to get support of conservatives. Only an idiot would believe a known liar and backstabber. If he were so great, why the NEED to spend millions on attacking Newt. You know he is the BEST for America and has conservative backing.

FUMR, I'm not tainting myself with your dirt - no vote for a PRO HOMO, baby killing candidate from me. I'm not an idiot but you are scum - Bishop Scum! Buyer Beware - a BS LIBERAL con artist is using the media, again, peddling for support from conservatives! The same media he used to backstab conservatives, little Trig, Newt, families, The TeaParty.

Dear White House,

Thanks for the compliment.

Regards,
Mitt

PS - Dust and vacuum before exiting the People’s House next January. And hands off the silverware.

The only reason there is to vote for Mitt Romney

There is no reason unless you want to be scr*^ed by the known con artist and have his filth on your hands and live with the fact you support his actions like his authorizing the killing of babies for $50 a clip and support his perverted ways with same sex marriage. It's like voting for satan himself.

MY VOTE GOES TO NEWT and there are MANY reasons to vote for him. TOO many to list.

No, actually they would be electing a degenerate coward Melchidezek mormon cult bishop from a family of degenerate cowards, as opposed to reelecting a straight up greedy communist foreign douchebag

I think that’s the reason for this cr*p from mitt’s team. Saying he’s the same as barry, there is no difference so he can’t beat him. Which is true. While they can’t change him or anything he has done or IS but they can ‘try’ to change what we think about him. Arrogant! Gee, who would have thunk mitt was arrogant, also./s Or had manipulative ways. He keeps proving he is a POS void of anything good.

“reflected in some of the centrist positions he took when running for office in Massachusetts.”
What Centrist positions might that be, gay marriage or the assault weapons ban, maybe they mean Romneycare.

Yep. This way if he loses the media can say it was because he was too conservative; instead of the truth that he will probably lose because he is a socialist moderate. Remember Nancy Pelosie and her mandate?

To those that plan on voting for Romney, shouldn't it bother you that the best things that are said about Romney come from the Obama administration? Obama’s claim Mitt actually wants to get rid of health care deform, or the claim Mitt is really a conservative.

Romney is a confusing target.

Attack him as a liberal! But, um, Obama’s a liberal. So are we saying Obama’s more conservative than Mitt?

Attack him as a conservative! But then the base that can’t stand him might rally around him.

Attack him as being too moderate! Not a good strategy for the independent, swing and undecided mushy middle voters.

I think it’s going to come back to the flip-flopper angle. Attacking his basic honesty and trustworthiness seems like it should work given that his personality doesn’t connect with people.

centrist positions he took when running for office

The only thing it could be when he was running for office, he placed his desk in the middle of the floor.
