Why Obama's Flip Flop On Gay Marriage Will Hurt His Re-Election
Ward World ^ | 05/15/2012 | Kevin A Ward

I wanted to take a moment to present an objective assessment of the political fallout from Barack Obama's flip flop on gay marriage. First of all it's quite obvious to all as evidenced by the polling that this was not a heartfelt transformation,it is transparently opportunistic. It won't work and given the timing it's awful politics. It might have worked in a booming economy, but this decision as an effort to distract from the economy is insulting.

The American People are always focused on the economy, but in our current state of economic stagnation (at best) the amount of publicity on the matter must be annoying if not infuriating to the public at large.

Why won't it work? Why won't we fall for the slight of hand? Consider this. If you're one of the millions of Americans out of work, underemployed or on food stamps are you thrilled to turn on the news and see all the gushing over his "evolution"?

Looking for a job? Don't worry, Our President has evolved! Struggling to pay the rent or mortgage? Gay marriage will save you! Struggling with rising gas and food prices? Hey, at least you can marry anyone you want! Concerned about the quality of your child's education? Don't worry their teachers will enlighten them on the wisdom of Obama's "evolution" even if they can't read at their grade level and are destined to a future of crippling student loan debt for a college education that no longer pays dividends.

Sooner or later Obama will be forced to defend the economy and nothing can save him from that fate. Sooner or later he'll have to make the case to millions of Americans why his economy is worthy of a repeat performance. The American People will not accept an "I support gay marriage" answer to a question about creating jobs. There are too many people who are searching for real hope for a better tomorrow. They will ask: What does it matter who we can marry if I have no job and struggle to keep a roof over my head and food on the table?

Barack Obama is going to find out the hard way that it really is the economy stupid.

Most people find work these days through the Internet or word-of-mouth from friends/relatives/co-religionists/former co-workers/networking. Here are some good sites:

I think Obama’s announcement is an implicit preemptive surrender. He knows he’s going to lose and the only group whose opinion he’s ever really cared about are progressives. So he’s putting himself in a position to say “it’s not my fault I lost: the narrow-minded American people simply weren’t ready for a president willing to bravely stand up for an oppressed minority. But at least I got health care reform done, and that’s something even FDR, HST, JFK, LBJ, JC and WJC were unable to achieve. Plus I grew the government faster than they ever did.”

I’m enamored of Mark Davis’ analysis on Rush yesterday about “gay marriage.” An analysis which he attributes to, I believe, Dennis Prager.
If A = B and B = C, then A = C.
Meaning, if a man can marry a man, and a man can marry a woman, there is no difference at all between a man and a woman.
That is an example of something so stupid only a college professor could believe it.

Government can say it, but it can never be true as long as only women bear children. Men can be parents, and women can be parents - but a father and an mother are two different things. And a son and a daughter are not the same, either.

“Bull..... Dohbama has been flip flopping from day one…Thats what he does is flip flop...”

‘Flip-Flop’ and ‘Rope-a-Dope’ are the typical and standard Liberal methods in both campaigning and in the execution of public duties for elected leaders.

By now, this perennially jejune mentality is entrenched and second nature with Liberal candidates and Liberal politicians across the board.

The time is long passed when clear, definitive, succinctly and consistently expressed views were eagerly sought and positively demanded of politicians and aspirants for public office. A mature vision, convincingly evolved over time and articulated with confidence and credibility, is no longer an attribute or a prerequisite for candidates who seek voter respect and support!

NOW…it’s practically anathema for a politician to consistently express core, time abiding and wholesomely sound views which he/she has developed and cultivated over a life time of exemplary living and documented experience!

That is not to say that politicians must be rigid, unimaginative and unresourceful… but for our leaders (or anyone seriously aspiring to public office) to display this personally irresponsible and intellectually blasé conduct is very dangerous.

Voters have a right to expect more and better!

If the people don't know what a fraud Obama is by now this Homosexual Marriage issue isn't going to "Light the Light"

His poll numbers and approval rating should be totally in the tank
