Will.i.am Touts Climate Change, Then Flies in Hip.Hop.Copter

Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am is the typical Hollywood-esque global warming alarmist. He's also the typical hypocrite who touts the apocalyptic effects of climate change, and then rides around in his helicopter -- or, technically, his "hip.hop.copter."

Mr. Will.i.am attended a climate change conference at Oxford University before lifting off to carry the Olympic torch on the same day.

On May 21, the American musician, who is also a coach on the British version of the singing competition television show “The Voice,” tweeted pictures of his helicopter as he was leaving Oxford and headed to Taunton, where he would help carry a leg of the Olympic torch.

Energy Live News reported that during his stay in Oxford Will-i-am met with climate analyst Miles Allen and purportedly said:

 “Climate change is confusing. It should be the thing that we all should be worried and concerned about as humans on this planet, how we affect the planet, our consumption and how we treat the place that we live in… Who is causing the confusion and why isn’t it a priority?”

We should be worried about "our consumption?" The "we" part must not include him, or his gaz-guzzling hip.hop.copter.

According to Gigawize, it is estimated the helicopter guzzled about 71.5 gallons of gasoline on its trip from London to Oxford, which would have emitted three-quarters of a ton of carbon dioxide.

Google Maps shows a car ride from London to Oxford University is about a 56 miles, which would take a little over an hour to drive. Directions from Oxford to Taunton is about 124 miles and would take around 2 hours and 24 minutes in a car.

Evidently, spending 60 minutes in a car would have been too time-consuming.

I'm all for tagging hypocrites, but how can 71.5 gallons of gasoline emit three-quarters of a ton of carbon dioxide? Gasoline weighs 6.073 lbs. in US gallons or 7.29 lbs. in imperial gallons, so at most he used 521 lbs. of "stuff."
