I did read the article. I agree that it seems very likely Martin had tried the stuff before, and I agree it’s possible that it was a factor that night. Until definitive proof comes out that he was affected by past use or had it in his system that night, though, I think a little skepticism is healthy here.
As for the media portraying Martin as a babe in the woods, etc. I totally agree. The media was taking sides from second one when the story went nationwide.
I like your reference to sainthood. In my opinion, which extends out about to the end of my nose, even if Martin was loaded to the gills, there’s no evidence that being loaded had anything to do with the attack. Loaded folks become violent at different levels, act out differently, etc. and there’s no evidence of his actual state at that moment of the assault. So, I just don’t see how it would ever get before the jury. I suppose that if the state claims (on the basis of no evidence) that Zimmerman provoked Trayvon so outrageously that any rational individual would assault him, then you might offer another possibility, but from what I’ve seen of the evidence, there’s simply no evidence that any such thing happened, so I don’t see how you get by the initial stage to get to that issue.

Yup, that’s going to be the “out” for the LSM. Evil drug companies (white run) put something on the market that lured 12 year old Treyvon into a literal hell and got him killed. Except for the seriously wacked out race-baiters (see some of the posts by 2ndDivisionVet lately), this will turn into a crusade against corporate whitey. And believe it or not, they’ll turn Zimmerman into yet another victim in the process...
I forgot to add: Corey (the prosecutor) is going to be thrown under the bus by the race-baiters she’s trying to appease. And nobody will have her back.

I believe your confusion as to the time can be traced back to the original Sanford Police Department report.
Trayvon Martin was shot at approximately 7:17 p.m. and he made he purchase before 6:30 p.m. The exact time of the purchase is in the Conservativetreehouse thread about Martin's purchase at the 7-11 (assuming the time stamp is correct on the security camera footage).
The calls George Zimmerman made to the non-emergency police dispatcher (he never called 911) were made starting not long after 7 p.m. and are time-stamped.
However, the police report was completed and filed after 3 a.m. That's the first time that appears at the top of it. A few lines down you'll find the time the police were called, which was hours earlier.
Somebody - some blogger, several bloggers - mistook the filing time for the time of the incident.
In discussing this outside of FR, you'll hurt your case if you argue that Martin was out at 2:30 a.m. He wasn't.

I’ve been surprised, maybe shocked, at the depth of the chasm between the culture of the blacks and the culture of the whites. It’s probably the same for the hispanics too. The differences aren’t just attitudes, values and music. It’s two different worlds.

When the recreational drug cocktail called Purple Drank, Lean, Sizzurp, and other slang terms was first invented, it used cough syrups containing codeine. It still does - if you can get your hands on prescription cough syrup.
