Anyone my age or above will need no reminding of the late, great Michael Wharton, whose Peter Simple column on these pages introduced readers to, among other creations, Dr. Heinz Kiosk. Chief among Dr. Kiosks inventions was the prejudometer, an anti-racist measurement device. When used on suspected racists, it emitted a reading in prejudons, the internationally-recognized scientific unit of racial prejudice.
When I was a teenager, the antics of Heinz Kiosk made me laugh. I wonder now, though, if those lost in the modern world of corporate correctness might find Whartons work eerily prescient. What he didnt foresee was that the concept of intrinsic prejudice would grow to encompass bias against a far wider range of minority groups than the prejudometer was programmed to tackle.
There are endless sociological papers intended to prove that diverse workforces are more productive. But theres a gap between a statement of the obvious (If your workforce is composed of people with diverse backgrounds and experiences, they are likely to produce multiple potential solutions to move the business forwardwhat most of us would recognize as the common sense definition of diversity) and the political/corporate synthesis of that concept as it translates into working life: the entire industry that revolves around uncovering and treating institutional prejudice.
You dont have to look further than the ugly mugshot next to this column to demonstrate the incoherence of diversity reasoning about hidden prejudices. Im in a protected minority, because Im gay. Except that Im not, because Im white. How can I be one of us, while simultaneously existing as one of them? Do I act against myself?
We are not reducible to a single wretched label. Mapping humans into identity buckets is the practice of such political horrors as Ken Livingstone.

It is indeed time for all Western nations to crush this new religion of Diversity. However, unless one supports drastically reducing immigration (especially legal immigration), then it makes no sense to rail against diversity (or affirmative action, or welfare, or a growing government). It’s like the sheer lunacy of how libertarians support unending mass immigration even though mass immigration is guaranteed to result in an demographic transformation that is completely hostile to libertarian positions.
While it’s true that Diversity Inc is mostly a creation of liberal whites, it’s also true that its power is fueled by actual diversity. The less white Western nations become, the more entrenched the Diversity cult will become in all levels of society.
When you look at the root of the word “diversity” (to diverge), it’s certainly the opposite of the oft-stated goal of “integration” that pervaded the 1960s. In fact, it’s segregation déjà vu all over again . . . just Jim Crow dressed up in a nicer name (James Corvus) . . .
It’s identity politics——what the leftists do to create factions-—label everyone to create groups-—to divide so they can conquer— Jealousy and hatred ensues when giving special rights to some—like affirmative action— and not to other groups. It naturally creates resentment.
Justice means equal rights for individuals, not groups. We are supposed to be judged by our character (merit) not by our group-—which is unjust and illegal under our constitution.
Diversity is shoved down our throats constantly at Pfizer, like it’s some bloody holy grail. It’s a scam and a bunch of shite.
We’re just pandering to the different homelands to get them to buy our drugs.
No different for anyone else. If we didn’t need their markets, hasta la vista, baby.
