Transgender Fights For ‘Right’ to Serve in Military
The Christian Diarist ^ | June 6, 2012 | JP

John Ackley was a member of the Minnesota National Guard, serving in the Army’s 34th Infantry Division. He saw duty in Iraq back in 2009, before returning to the Gopher State and being placed on inactive duty.

Now Ackley wants to be returned to active duty. But not as the man he was three years ago, but as a transgender woman.

Ackley got a sex-change operation after going inactive. “It’s really where I should have been in the first place,” said the former Guardsman.

Known now as “Ashley,” Ackley is in the process of trying to re-enlist. “It’s the structure, the discipline, the training, the people,” the transgender explained.

Well, it was Ackley’s prerogative to repudiate the body he was born with. But the transgender has absolutely no right to expect the Army to blithely accept her?/him? back into its ranks.

Indeed, Army Regulation 40-501, titled “Standards of Medical Fitness,” states that a history or current manifestation of “gender identity disorder to include major abnormalities or defects of the genitalia such as change of sex or a current attempt to change sex” render an individual, like Ackley, unfit to serve.

It is not a commentary on Ackley’s human worth. It is a medical diagnosis of the transgender’s mental state.

For while the Obama government, the activist federal and state courts, the liberal media and the decadent entertainment industry try to persuade us that it’s perfectly normal when persons, like Ackley, change the sex God gave them from male to female (or vice versa), most of us know its perfectly abnormal.

The Scripture tells us that God created but two genders and that “male and female He created them.” There’s no mention of a third gender, “other,” that fits transgenders like Ackley.

Of course, the LGBT community will insist that refusal to allow Ackley and other transgenders to serve in the military is discrimination. And they’ll characterize those of us who disagree as unenlightened bigots who want to return to the days where LGBTs were afraid to be themselves. When they hid in the closet.

Well, I agree with the Army’s assessment that persons that undergo sex change operations suffer a gender identity disorder. I also agree with the Army that such persons are unfit for military servicE.

I say that not because I bear any malice toward Ackley, who honorably served in the “Red Bull” Infantry. But because all that is necessary for godless public policy to prevail, like transgenders in the military, is for people of faith to be silent.

Let me get this straight. We're going to allow into our military people who want to mutilate their own genitals for political correctness. Yeah, that’le work.

Having some butcher hack off your penis and turn the spare parts into a caricature of a vagina and then pump yourself full of estrogen does not make you a woman. Sorry you poor sick SOB, it just doesn't work that way.

I worked in legal for 16.5 of my 20 years. We only had two or three homosexual cases in all my memory that came up for elimination. I know there were over time a few "GI shower-room" parties for dealing with a couple of guys who were thought to be homosexual. There were times when you had ideas that some guy might me gay. But, of course unless you saw some activity there was not much you could do.

After retirement I settled in Seattle for 16 years. Of course they were every yard up there. My law office was full of them. Probably half of the office was. Now, I can basically pick one out of the crowd. I guess after viewing them for so many years up there, I got used to how they act, dress, talk, carry themselves, etc. There are just ways it seems that they stick out. Sad that I can now actually pick these people out. Sad.
