Oh oh! Lady M just read What Really Makes Us Fat in the NYT:

From this perspective, the trial suggests that among the bad decisions we can make to maintain our weight is exactly what the government and medical organizations like the American Heart Association have been telling us to do: eat low-fat, carbohydrate-rich diets, even if those diets include whole grains and fruits and vegetables.

Wow! This is huge: if it’s right it means that Lady M’s signature No Child’s Fat Behind program is on the wrong side of medical history...

...Anyway, on another front, have you heard our final solution on the Obamacare dilemma? We don’t care what the Justices call it, we’re calling the Obamacare tax a “penalty” for “free-loaders.”

...Actually, the big brains at the Big White prefer the term “free-rider” (because they can pin that one on Romney, which makes it a perfect talking point) butt the distinction between free rider and freeloader is really just semantics, right? Just like the distinction between ‘penalty” and “tax,” right? I’ll tweet the question to Justice Roberts...

...This is all making my head hurt, and since it is a holiday week I decided to just have a little fun with mosaic art myself. While the Hemisphere “composite” Lady M is made up of fruits, veggies and bees, I thought, why not do a composite of MO made up of things she actually likes to eat? So with a little help from Raj, here it is; I call it “the 31 flavors of MO” since it’s comprised of picture tiles of 31 of her favorite things:

The Food Pyramid and new food chart is an atrocity against humanity.

Since eliminating processed sugar and increasing my fat and protein intake, I've dropped weight that I had almost given up on losing. My mood has improved, my activity level is increased, my PCOS disappeared, and I no longer suffer from arthritis pain in my feet. I've done the calorie counting, low-fat, calories in calories out diets and they DON'T WORK! We've also returned to a more traditional diet with our ingredients: everything is full-fat and full-calories. No low-fat, fat-free, low-cal, or sugar-free ingredients in the pantry, fridge, or freezer. We eat butter not margarine, bacon not turkey bacon, and fruit not fruit juices.

good on ya. i have dropped 22 pounds in a year by counting the calories of what i ate and learning how to eat differently, olus exercise but i think the exercise does more to make me feel good than loose weight. all this means is i know a frosted donut is so many calories so do i want to waste them on 1 donut or have alot more of something else i like. whatever i decide it is without guilt. i like to cook and do most of the cooking at home so we don’t go out much.been maintaining 202 for 4 months. when i decide i really want to get to 195 i will.
