(snip) President Obama has decided that indeed we are going to tempt them with weakness. According to an Associated Press report on conversations with current and former administration officials, Obama is finalizing plans, perhaps to be released later this month, to cut the U.S. nuclear arsenal to between 1,000 and 1,100 warheads with the goal "in the longer term, (of) eliminating nuclear weapons."

I agree with your philosophy, although I advocate military superiority which always delivers the ultimate in deterrence. ‘Sufficiency’ is quite frankly a bullshit pipe dream which was promoted by the disarmament crowd back in the late 60’s and 70’s and was proven to be utterly invalid as a strategic concept. American nuclear policy post-World War II was to eliminate the need for a huge standing military (personnel wise) due to our ability to literally decimate our potential future enemies with nuclear weapons.
After the traitorous Rosenbergs sold us out to the Soviets, it became necessary to embrace the concept of massive retaliation and absolute military superiority, as championed by General Curtis E. LeMay (just to name one great patriot).
There is little doubt in my mind that had America been sucker punched by the Soviets during the closing years of the Truman Administration, or the eight years of Eisenhower, JFK’s brief partial term, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, GHWB, even Clinton, and GWB, America would have responded with everything we had. The two notable exceptions? The buffoon from Georgia Jimmy Carter and the current Kenyan phuckwit stinkin’ up the White House, THOSE two imbeciles exist in a mindset which believes it to be a viable option to NOT retaliate and in fact to surrender, i.e. “they’d rather be red than dead”.
America has kept the global peace since 1945 due to one reason, and one reason only: massive nuclear superiority and the will to use those weapons, and to be sure our enemies both proclaimed and potential, know that we WOULD use them if necessary. As Ronald Reagan stated so clearly on more than one occasion, “America has never ended up in a war because we were too strong” (paraphrased).
Weakness invites foreign adventurism and challenges on a global scale, and what was once the Party of Truman, JFK, LBJ, Hubert Humphrey and Scoop Jackson, has died, replaced by the current DemoCommunists running the show, and their goal IS to weaken America to the point where we are no longer a factor in world affairs, they are all traitors to the core, and deserve the penalty reserved for traitors.
I mean after all, nuclear deterrence never worked anyway. /s

The specific mention of missile defense is worrisome enough. Mr. Obama has retreated from the missile defense plan that was negotiated with European allies during the George W. Bush administration. Apparently, he is signaling Moscow that he intends to retreat further. The clear implication from the president’s comments is that he cannot tell the American people before the election what he plans to do after the election.
In addition, there is the phrase “on all these issues,” implying more is at stake than just missile defense.”

Thanks so much for the Caucus4Priorities, for the great work you've been doing. As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus4Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington.
First, I'll stop spending $9 billion a month in Iraq. I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it.[not win it -etl]
Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.
I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems.
I will not weaponize space.
I will slow our development of future combat systems.
And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.

China's Growing Military Space Power

GOLDEN, Colorado — A just-released Pentagon report spotlights a growing U.S. military concern that China is developing a multi- dimensional program to limit or prevent the use of space-based assets by its potential adversaries during times of crisis or conflict.
Furthermore, last year's successful test by China of a direct-ascent, anti-satellite (ASAT) weapon to destroy its own defunct weather satellite, the report adds, underscores that country's expansion from the land, air, and sea dimensions of the traditional battlefield into the space and cyber-space domains.
Although China's commercial space program has utility for non- military research, that capability demonstrates space launch and control know-how that have direct military application. Even the Chang'e 1 — the Chinese lunar probe now circling the Moon — is flagged in the report as showcasing China's ability "to conduct complicated space maneuvers — a capability which has broad implications for military counterspace operations."

It was bad enough that the 2012 defense authorization bill signed by President Obama set America on a downward spiral of military mediocrity.
He also issued a signing statement, something he once opposed, saying that language in the bill aimed at protecting top-secret technical data on the U.S. Standard Missile-3 — linchpin of our missile defense — might impinge on his constitutional foreign-policy authority.
Section 1227 of the defense law prohibits spending any funds that would be used to give Russian officials access to sensitive missile-defense technology as part of a cooperation agreement without first sending Congress a report identifying the specific secrets, how they'd be used and steps to protect the data from compromise.
The president is required to certify that any technology shared will not be passed on to third parties such as China, North Korea or Iran, that the Russians will not use transferred secrets to develop countermeasures and that the Russians are reciprocating in sharing missile-defense technology.

Courage and THE WILL should be the main point. Obama hasn't the will to defend us against threats from Russia. He is in their corner. He has been practically since birth. His "Uncle Frank" (childhood mentor Frank Marshall Davis) was a diehard supporter of the communist Soviet Union. He wrote poems to honor the 'Red Army'.
I agree. But between the Democrat-controlled Senate, a totally ineffectual House, and a Supreme Court that has cut itself adrift, the only way out of this is for him to be defeated at the ballot box in November. I remain unconvinced that will happen.

Obama’s Red Mentor Praised Red Army

Barack Obama’s childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA (CPUSA), wrote a poem dedicated to the Soviet Red Army. “Smash on, victory-eating Red Army,” he declared. He also wrote poems attacking traditional Christianity and the work of Christian missionaries.
The “Red Army” poem goes beyond hoping for the communists to beat the Nazis in World War II and hails the Soviet revolution. It says:

"through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his 'poetry' and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just 'Frank.'
The reason is apparent: Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member. What's more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several communist-front organizations."
Frank Chapman, a CPUSA supporter, has written a letter to the party newspaper hailing the Illinois senator's victory in the Iowa caucuses:
"Obama’s victory was more than a progressive move; it was a dialectical leap ushering in a qualitatively new era of struggle. Marx once compared revolutionary struggle with the work of the mole, who sometimes burrows so far beneath the ground that he leaves no trace of his movement on the surface. This is the old revolutionary 'mole,' not only showing his traces on the surface but also breaking through."

While I agree with you that there is no reason to reduce our strategic force that low, 300 warheads could still be a credible deterrent.
When I served on Ohio class boats we carried 24 Trident D5 SLBMs with 8 warheads each for a total of 192.
Each of these warheads has 5 times the destructive power of Little Boy dropped on Hiroshima.
With those 192 warheads we could destroy every important economic and military target in Russia.
Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Murmansk, Yekaterinburg, Vladivostok, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Omsk, Chelyabinsk, Rostov, Ufa, Volgograd, Voronezh and many more targets.
It would leave Russia completely devastated.
