The city of Chicago enforces the most draconian (and unconstitutional) gun-control laws in the United States.
And how's that working out?
Oddly, there are no calls for more gun control in the wake of the weekly Chicago massacre. Once you have the stiffest gun control laws on the books, you should probably look at the root of the problem... "Three men are dead and at least 23 other people wounded from gun violence across the city since Friday night."
In fact, Chicago police superintendent Garry McCarthy is "accentuating the positives" of the bloody results of his city's oppressive gun ban, which prevents only the law-abiding from defending themselves by force of arms:
McCarthy noted this weekend's numbers were half the total of shootings for the same weekend last year. He also said that while 2012 shootings are up by eight percent over 2011, they've decreased considerably since March when the year-to-year increase was 40 percent...In other words, an Aurora massacre occurs every 10 days in Chicago, the gun-control capital of the U.S. Like Washington DC, New York City, Mexico City and London --to name but a few --"gun-free" cities are truly areas where the innocent are targeted by predators who have no intention of abiding by any law....McCarthy also said the murder rate is well below the record of 970 set in 1974, although it's still on pace to reach 450 murders and that the murder rate is increasing as overall violent crime in Chicago is showing a decline.
The masterminds who think they can banish evil from the world by banning guns must reject all of human history, as well as logic and reason, to promote their unconstitutional schemes.

Meanwhile a few hundred miles away, Detroit has become the justifiable homicide capital of the USA. In my opinion, justifiable homicide is a hell of a lot better than being a victim.

In our state, we kill this many people on our highways every weekend. It’s murder by drunks, punks, or illegal immigrants. But almost nobody notices or cares.

Interesting - over a weekend 12 black and Hispanic people were shot dead in Chicago and not so much as a peep from the media? It is real gun crime, predictable, and solvable but no one seems to care.
Now 12 white people get shot at a theater by an unpredictable nut job, and we need to rip up the Constitution and cancel the Second Amendment?
NYC conducts the stop and frisk for loitering youths in high crime neighborhoods and has brought gun murders way way down. The Civil Liberties people are trying to stop those searches, but I give credit to Bloomberg on this one issue because he is fighting those psycho liberals and saving thousands of lives of minority boys. Bloomberg is wrong on these other bans because they are unconstitutional and ineffective. The Theater Shooter was a sick but intelligent person who would get the weapons eventually to do this, or use home made grenades. These slaughters are horrific but not an epidemic, they are one-off unpredictable actions that will always be difficult to stop. It does not compare to every day crime in the nation’s inner-cities. Believe it or not the odds of a Columbine, a Virginia Tech or the theater massacre are so small, that I would book that bet every day. Not that this offers any consolation but I would write an insurance policy to grant every victim’s family $10 million per loss for ten bucks of premium per year - and get rich by exploiting the fear in these exaggerated dangers. It is a tragedy that anti gun people are now exploiting to limit our rights, but it is a far cry from being a real threat.

Expecting what was coming, I’ve been following the DUmmies pretty close. (Actually, there’s a remarkable bit of pushback there...but that’s not my point here)
It’s bizarre the way the lefties completely bypass the gangbangers & weekend shoot-em-ups & hone in on those of us who seek to, or feel the need to, participate in our second amendment right.
I really don’t give a flip who calls me a “racist”. Facts are facts & speaking for myself & many people I’ve known, what has led to the “popularity” (actually, that’s necessity) of owning guns- whether you hunt or not, is self defense.
It’s also a betrayal of their mindset/ “intellect” that they can’t make the correlation between the decrease in crime rates & the increase in gun ownership.
