VANITY: I blocked that horrendous tripe called "Current Channel" from my Direct TV Satellite service. For all those with Direct TV in my area (upstate NY) it's Channel 358. Probably didn't "send a message" but it made me feel good! (Cue Chuck Mangione's "Feel So Good")

Good for you! When I first installed DirecTV I saw the myriad lib channels and programming that came with it. I called customer service. "Hi, I'm a new subscriber and I realize that I have zero-interest in at least 30 channels that are included in my package." Them: "How can we assist you?" me: "I will trade you Current, Link, WLIW (face-it, who needs the Long Island Version of PBS anyway?), BBC-America, HLN, CNN, MSNBC, Bravo, ESPN, ESPN2, Sundance, and all the kid channels in exchange for The Outdoor Channel. That's a 30-1 swap and you are getting the best of the deal." Them: "Sir, we can't do that, but we will add the Outdoor Channel at a charge of $8 per month... Ala Carte." Me: "Ala Carte? No - you don't understand. I'm trading you 30 channels for one not-so-premium channel... and if it were truly Ala Carte, why would I order all this other crap when I just wanted a burger?" them: "Sir, we can't do that... but we can..." Me: "Yeah, I know Ala Carte... just turn these channels off..." Them: "sir, it would cost YOU more for us to block all of these channels rather than charge you a package rate." I think they gave me free HBO for being a whiner... oh boy - I got to watch "Recount" in Spanish...

But you are STILL PAYING AL GORE!

Blocking continues to funnel money to the libs.

You should WORK toward unbundling cable — The canadians just got their cable unbundled.

This is the USA. We need the free market to correct.....Bundling ensures crap is still available.

Soooo, you call to complain about too many channels with progressive agendas and they add HBO for free.
I do believe that's referred to as a Pyrrhic victory.

Just pull the plug on them and stream Netflix instead. It’s much much cheaper and you get real choices. There’s also feature length uninterrupted HD movies on Youtube.

At least it used to have entertainment value when you could sit down with an adult beverage and watch Keith Olbermann’s head explode every time the Left was having a bad day.

Industry insiders widely predict that AlGore TV will go bankrupt and join the DuMont Network and The WB on the ash heap of TV history within the year.

We tried Netflix for a while. It seemed like nothing but crappy new movies; the old classics you had to wait to order on DVD in the mail.

I talked them into giving me NFL Sunday Ticket for half price last year. We’ll see what they have to offer this football season. (Hubby loves football) I could go for NHL Center Ice, myself.
