Mitt Romney Supports Gay Boy Scouts But Not Gay Marriage?
Zimbio ^ | Aug 4

Posted on 08/06/2012 6:04:51 PM PDT by xzins

Well, this doesn’t make much sense, now does it??

Back in June, we showed you a video of Mitt Romney from 1994, proclaiming his support of the Boy Scouts of America and his views on its gay members.

CLICK HERE to see the video if you missed it.

In the video, Romney stated:

“I believe that the Boy Scouts of America does a wonderful service for this country. I support the right of the Boy Scouts of America to decide what it wants to do on that issue. I feel that all people should be able to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation.”

Now, a spokeswoman for Romney is saying he STILL upholds those beliefs and confirmed:

“This remains Romney’s position today.”

This is where things get confusing, though, seeing as Mitt has opposed gay marriage, but yet, he thinks ALL boys should have the right to participate in the Boy Scouts!

What gives, Mitt???

Equality for all…in every aspect!

They weren’t getting married...it was going to be a simple civil ceremony on the pond.

So you're telling me the boy scouts allow 13 year olds to wonder alone into the woods with 7 year olds and have sex?

Didn’t say supporter, said “prefer.” There’s a difference, though some may see it as slim.

And that seems the logical conclusion from the post to which I replied, to which you replied.

If you will read the original post again, perhaps you can point out the error in my conclusion.

Actually look at the question being asked, this time.

Sorry, it was COBOL2Java to whom I originally asked: “So, would it be correct to conclude from your post that you prefer Obama wins the election over Romney in November?”

Seems you and SoCo have replied but not COBOL - and I haven’t seen a direct answer to the question yet.

Funny... that's just what I was thinking.

I looked at the premise: You keep calling anyone who doesn’t agree with you an Obama supporter.

I disagree with that premise. Which I clarified, explained and restated.

About all I can do on this.

"Get A Lot Of Votes That Way, Do You?"

So, all inept weaseling and whatnot aside: "No," then. Gotcha.

About all I can do on this.

Plainly.

“That way” refers to the premise.

Which you have stated in error - as I pointed out in reply.

I’ve asked you to review the discussion and show where your statement is correct.

You haven’t.

If you wish a coherent discussion, I’ll provide.

If you wish to claim gotcha or attempt flame wars... I’m too old for it.

Ok, coherent discussion is not your choice.

So be it. I won’t waste any more time with this or you.

Careful. Pedant Troll alert.

Pedant Troll: "In his imagination, pedant troll is the very exemplar of reason, balance and moderation. He feels effortlessly superior to [others], whom he likes to put down with his killer sarcasm, weapons-grade pedantry and niggling little quibbles masquerading as constructive criticism. If he were really as brilliant as he thinks he is, he would at the very least have a major blog of his own by now, and more likely be King of the World. Strangely, he has yet to achieve either of these things."

Feed at your own risk, FRiend. ;)

I accept at face value your neutrality on the Mormon issue, but for a military man you’re dangerously naive. Romney’s no conservative, that’s obvious, severely so. But, Romney isn’t an Obama. I was born and raised in Cook County, IL. Obama is the worst we have to offer - a pseudo-intellectual, race baiting, crooked anti-American.

I’ve been to Boston and it’s a shining city on a hill compared to CC. Romney’s been able to attract MA conservatives to his cause. No one will ever get everyone as we can see on FR, yet Romney’s going to be the GOP nominee. He’s a politician and he’s way to the left of me. Given what you and others have written I went to see Romney yesterday. He did a great job and he’s threading a needle on social issues, but spot on when it comes to the economy. He’s no worse than either Bush.

He’s a thousand times better than Obama. He gets business and will improve the regulatory and tax regime along with the economy. I am under no illusion that he’s not a liberal. That’s why I’m working to elect the most conservative Congress I can.

We need to ally with pro-commerce Republicans, despite their being soft on social issues. Too many conservatives think they can just say, “ideas have consequences” and leave it at that. We’re going to have to fight a long, hard war for every inch of victory. That said our ideas are superior and will carry the day.

Once the economy is going forward again we’ll have carte blanch to move a powerful social agenda. Americans like winning and pocketbook issues are universal. What you’re doing is wounding the nominee and carrying water for Obama. That you wrap it in sincere conservative beliefs doesn’t make it right.

Good for all you've done and thanks. Keep it up because we'll need the most conservative Congress we can get, but they'll need to be wise and keep compromising the ball toward our victory.

If you are truly a conservative, think about the best possible outcome for this election (besides punting Mitt at the convention and putting a real conservative at the top of the ticket). The ideal outcome for conservatism would be Tea Party candidates winning in landslides and Mitt squeaking through by the skin of his teeth.

There won't be a conservative at the top of the GOP ticket and there hasn't been since Reagan. Don't make Romney's election victory such a squeaker that Obama wins.
