Posted on 08/09/2012 9:53:44 PM PDT by Sun
We here at Capital Tonight are proud to announce that YNN and NY1 will be hosting a debate between US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Republican challenger Wendy Long. Both candidates have agreed to a live hour long debate at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs on Wednesday, October 17th that will air on both YNN and NY1 reaching almost the entire state.
The debate will be co-hosted by our very own Liz Benjamin and by NY1′s Political Anchor Errol Louis. The format will be similar to the one we have used in the past, including the GOP primary debate we did back in June, so you can all look forward to those lightning round questions.
Mrs. Long is a very special candidate - let's help get her name out. Please call a talk show, write an editor's letter, email your friends, volunteer. Do what you can.
Want to help? I received this via email from the Wendy Long camp:
“How tired are you of people saying New York is hopelessly a “blue state,” where Republicans don’t stand a chance?
How frustrated do you get when you hear your neighbors complain about high taxes and the lack of jobs...and then vote for the same Democrats who raised their taxes, whose job killing regulations and mandates are why there aren’t any?
How many times do you find yourself saying, “ENOUGH!”
In 2010, we surprised the country by sending the most new Republicans to Congress than any other state. This year, we’re sending them some backup AND a fresh voice in Wendy Long to help reclaim the majority in the US Senate. But we can’t do it alone, and we need your help.
Please reach out to your local Victory Center and volunteer any time you can. Any help you can provide - phone banking, lit drops, putting up lawn signs - WILL make a difference for Wendy Long and all of our Congressional candidates on Election Day. A list of Victory Centers in your community, with contact information for each, is included below.
Please e-mail our volunteer coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know when and where you volunteered!
And as always, thank you for your continued support of Wendy Long, her campaign, and to the advancement of our beliefs of limited government and expanded freedom.

“NYers in the North Country #LONGforChange, favor @wendylongforny in @adkenterprise #NYSEN online poll...”
While this is an unscientific poll, it’s gratifying to see that the majority of voters chose WENDY LONG, even though she doesn’t have a lot of name recognition yet.
Thanks for the headsup-—will talk up Wendy’s candidacy.
If the current trend continues-—with Tea Party candidates smashing to succedsive victories-—she has a good chance of winning.
“will talk up Wendys candidacy ..”
I’m also so happy we have the Tea Party!
The Gotham Tea Party endorsed Wendy, and here’s their write up:
“The following Gothan Tea Party June 20, 2012 press release explains why Long is the best choice.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gotham was impressed by Wendy’s grasp of our core ideals of fiscal conservatism, constitutional government and the preservation of free markets. In several meetings we saw that Wendy is far from a one-dimensional conservative. She has proven to be a quick learner and is now fluent on a variety of fiscal issues. Gotham was also particularly impressed with Long’s efforts to recognize the Tea Party as an important constituency among the electorate.
We believe Wendy Long, who is committed and articulate, is uniquely capable of challenging and defeating liberal Senator Gillibrand in the general election.
Gotham Tea Party, Inc. was launched in 2011 by people from around the tri-state area involved in other tea party organizations. Gotham was formed to meet the movement demand for an organization active in and working to find, train and support winning candidates who support the Tea Party agenda of limited, Constitutional government, fiscal responsibility and free markets. Gotham proclaims itself to be in the business of winning elections.”’
Wendy Long is an incredible candidate!
Link if anyone wants a Wendy Long bumper sticker, car magnet, etc.:
Wendy Long has momentum on her side.
“.. In the race for United States Senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, the Democratic incumbent, has a 49-40 percent lead over Republican challenger Wendy Long.”
Wait until after Labor Day when folks start paying attention.
