Paul Ryan Medicare Plan Clearly Explained by the Stunning Michelle Fields
Reaganite Republican ^ | August 13, 2012 | Reaganite Republican

Posted on 08/13/2012 12:08:10 PM PDT by Reaganite Republican

Forget all the demagoguery out there on the Left and check this out...

"No changes go into effect until 2028."

"Nobody over the age of 55 will be affected by this plan"

"Individuals will have the ability to look at a list of coverage plans -which also includes the traditional Medicare option- and they can decide for themselves what best fits their needs"

"It empowers the individual, but also forces the businesses to compete for customers... when you have competition,

price goes down/quality goes up."

"Medicare right now is failing, it's going to be falling apart- something needs to be done, and Ryan's actually putting-forth a plan -and actually has a governing blueprint- that nobody else in Washington DC has offered the American people"

"If anything, this is energizing the Republican base and conservatives: if you look at 24 hrs after Romney announced Paul Ryan as VP, 3.5M dollars were raised."

"There's tons of choice... and that's what America's all about"

>> “I believe that is called CAPITALISM” <<

.
No, it’s called “Free Enterprise.”

Capitalism is a stupid word coined by Karl Marx to belittle the power of freedom, which he despised.

Ryan’s mama is on Medicare. I doubt he’d do anything to tick her off.

And I believe he's said as much. He truly does have skin in this game, and he should clearly state this when he inevitably speaks to seniors.

“Changes do not Affect anyone 55 & over.

Needs to be shouted from roof tops since the democrats never mention it, and repubs do not repeat it often. Most voters are not political junkies and don’t know this. That includes 90% of people I talk to.”

AGREED IN FULL, can’t let Dems lie to seniors about this

You raise a very good point. I am thinking people under 55 should be given an option to begin their own retirement account with portion of their FICA & Medicare tax, very soon.

I like the Chilean model where workers have just such as option, but the money is invested by a panel of investment experts. Most people are not good investors by themselves. That account remains in their own name, the government can’t tamper with it, and it can be passed on to the heirs if not used up.

3 things every voter needs to know about Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform plan — in 100 words

1. No one over the age of 55 would be affected in any way.
2. Traditional Medicare fee-for-service would remain available for all. “Premium support”—that is, government funding of private insurance plans chosen by individuals—is an option for those who choose it. No senior would be forced out of the traditional Medicare program against his will.
3. Overall funding for Medicare under the Ryan-Wyden plan is scheduled to grow at the same rate as under President Obama’s proposals. Is this “gutting Medicare” and “ending Medicare as we know it”? In reality, it’s the market giving seniors cheaper, higher quality choices they can take if they wish, with the traditional program remaining an option.

Not as sexy, but well done nevertheless, is Andrew Klavan's "Economic Smackdown" from last June on YouTube's PajamasMedia.

One problem with that is current FICA income just pays for current FICA expenses. Letting younger people divert some of their tax to fund another retirement account leaves the question of how do you fund those who are on Social Security?

Above average, but well below ‘stunning.’

And yes she is intelligent, and well spoken. Since she isn’t a ‘crat, that doesn’t stun me either :o)
