Why Aiken Should not Back Down
Townhall ^ | August 24, 2012 | Mike

Posted on 08/25/2012 6:52:05 PM PDT by kathsua

The only mainstreamers coming to Todd Aiken's defense so far have been Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and now Mike Huckabee. His detractors have been legion, from almost all major media figures to politicians at the top levels. Why the uproar over one ill-advised comment? Has the country lost its senses completely?

Any serious explanation of affording legal protection for unborn human persons engenders intensively vitriolic hate in America. We have become a nation of God haters, and Aiken's comment has exposed who they are, whether we are talking about media blabbermouths Coulter, Hannity, Limbaugh, Palin and others too numerous to mention, so-called religious leaders, RNC political bosses, or political figures from the top level down, Romney, Ryan and Obama, they have one thing in common. At some level they all hate God the Creator and Author of life.

Don't they know that life is so sacred that there can be no justification for deliberately murdering human persons at any stage of life, hence no abortion exceptions? Why are they so intent on making an abortion exception for pregnancies that rarely occur, as Aiken himself pointed out? And unless we distinguish between real and fake rape situations, i.e. women claiming to have been raped who actually have consented, this valid rationale for denying an exception is completely lost.

Rape and abortion are both bad for America. We need lawmakers and leaders willing to make the hard decisions, and pay the political price if necessary, to deal with these problems, not more wimps.

The media have been misrepresenting Aiken's comments. He's not claiming the rape itself is "legitimate", only the complaint. One of the problems of allowing abortion in the case of rape is that some women will claim rape to get an abortion.

The bottom line is abortion in the case of rape and Willards and his lock step RINOs want to allow it, the slaughter of innocent babies...

Akin stands in their way...

He reminds them of what American Exceptionalosm really is...

He reminds them just what a man is...

a man will protect the least of those amongst us...

Akin has some faux friends who don't know what he said, but he backed off.

I'm in favor of dropping him for the same reason we ought to be dropping Romney ~ too much playing footsie with Democrats.

You'll notice Romney backed out of this one when he realized it was being turned on him.

All I can say is bring it back in spades, make Mitt start making some noises ~ 'cause this is what should happen to him.

We are already oversubscribed with RINOs ~

Thesis: Palin (and every other Akin critic) is a God hater...

These people are smoking themselves out to be intellectual lightweights.

Even Bob Torricelli fell on his sword.

I may not agree that he did not commit a crime but let face facts

Even Before he said what he said he was the Democrats pick for Senate

He was not the Right to life Choice

Some people in here are playing checkers while some are playing Chess

Perhaps "Aiken" shouldn't step down. But "Akin" most certainly should. I am troubled by the way so many in the Party have turned on him, but sometimes, even in a moment of "misspeaking" (and I think that is all it was) you give the competition enough fodder to bury you. It happened to George Allen in his "maccaca moment" and it has happened to Akin. Allen had the good sense and humility to step down.

For the good of the future of America it is appropriate that Akin step down and throw what support he has left to someone else whose beliefs won't be so different from his, but whose electability is light years ahead.

We need both the House and the Senate to keep whoever occupies the White House in January from destroying this country.

Does Akin really want to go down in history as the guy who argued the case for "legitimate" rape of women while enabling the rape of a nation?

It’s Aiken or McCaskill.

My vote is for Aiken.

Even though his remark was really dumb.

I stand with Aiken. The goobers in the GOPe want him out because he is a conservative. If he was a RINO, like Mitt, they’d stand by him. Heck, Mittens has said and done a lot worse, but they still want us to vote for him. If Aiken doesn’t get the seat, the RINOs will get the divided congress they want so they can have an excuse for not doing anything and for pushing through their progressive platform. As for the rest, Palin, West, etc. I think they, like many conservatives, got caught up in the herd. Besides, it’s not like they are infallible. Palin endorsed Orrin Hatch, a RINO, and her biggest mistake was not bothering to run for the nomination despite the huge support she had.

I love the FREEPERS all upset with this guy. I relish the thought that they have to vote for someone they don't want to after giving us Romney. Payback is a serious bitch. I am giddy with happiness in watching them gnashing teeth. Akin is a good man. Too bad he wasn't our Presidential nominee.

Initially this guy got himself in trouble by trying to finely digress the subtle nuances of rape ~ which is never a winner except in the US Court of Appeals ~ they get paid to do that.

Now we have people defending him by using that old Leftwingtard feminazi standard phrase of "some women" ~

I remember this country getting so tired of that crazy woman repeating it ad nauseum "some women' this and "some women" that at the Thomas inquisition.

Really, you gotta' keep it in CONSERVATIVE LANGUAGE PARAMETERS ~ and "some women" ain't in there.

Actually, the phrase is simply a tool of class warfare and should never be used as a substitute for what a specific individual might have experienced, nor what statistics based on extensive studies might suggest.

So, no, I don't believe whatever it is "some women' say, feel, talk about, stand on, swim around, or experience ~ tell me what you think, or cite an authority.

We'll all get along better. But now, tell me, why should we buy into this guy's bonafides when he was taking substantial help from Democrats in a primary for Republicans?

Allen didn’t step down. He lost a very close race in a very bad year for Republicans.

Not that I’m a fan of Allen. He has become a coward on racial matters.

Did you realize Orin Hatch has a 100% ACU rating? Ryan is down at 85% and has dropped nearly 15% in just one year. He’s getting close to Richard Lugar!

Allen was running ~ the hindu guy with the camera got too close. Another hindu with the same hairdo (a very peculiar one rather like Pee-wee Herman) went wild with a low caliber pistol and shot 28 people on the streets of downtown Montreal soon after.

I still don't trust the Macaca kid

So there should be no exceptions for abortion? You do realize that is a position held by only about 20% of American’s don’t you?

The GOP should be calling out the Democrats (and the media for failing to do so) on their own abortion extremism. The Democrats favor abortion on demand. That is, they favor legal abortion (at taxpayers expense if necessary) for any reason at any time throughout the pregnancy. This is a view shared by only 20-25% of Americans. And the Democrats want this position imposed by judges, without the people of any state having a say in the matter.

The GOP should be hitting the Democrats on this, and it would be easier if they didn’t insist that a woman who gets pregnant as the result of a rape has to carry the rapist’s child to term.

The Townhall blogger, Mike, would have more credibility if he demonstrated that he at least knew enough about this political debacle to spell Todd Akin’s name correctly. It’s not “Aiken”, it’s “Akin”.

OMG! I guess I’m gonna have to start reading the names of the posters before I read the comments to spare myself being embarrassed for you. I thought to myself: “What ignorant comments”. Then I saw it was you and I thought: “It figures.” You and DannyTN must be a real embarrassment to the good people of Tennessee.

"Allen had the good sense and humility to step down. "

No, he just proved he's like the rest of the GOPe crowd; NO BALLS & NO BACKBONE.

The Kenyan must go.
