Turn Out The Lights: The Grand Old Party Is Over
markamerica.com Blog ^ | August 28th, 201 | Mark America

That’s it. You can shut down the convention right now. It’s over. Romney’s camp just shut down all dissent, and they rigged it that way. Twitter is awash in angry tweets from people who know this was a sham. John Boehner actually wielded the gavel without a hint of a tear as he said “the ayes have it.” They didn’t have it, and I think it was pretty clear that even if they did, this was a set-up. I have news for the GOP establishment. I am voting in November. I will vote for all the down-ballot candidates who are worthy of my support. I am not going to vote for Mitt Romney. Don’t look at the page as though you’ve read the words of a man pledging treason. It was not I who rigged the primaries. It was not I who rigged the convention. It was not I who rigged the rules committee. All of those things are actual treasons against the conservatives in the America, and all of those things were carried out by Mitt Romney and his legion. I am a small matter to it, but I will have my say. If the Republican party wishes to commit suicide by Romney, they may do so, but they will do so without my help in the matter. John Boehner may have enjoyed his moment in despotic pleasure, and Reince Priebus may have been doing his masters’ bidding, but Mitt Romney had it within his power to put a stop to all of this, but when tested by circumstance, Mitt Romney’s fatal character flaws prevailed.

The Republican Party is dead. It’s time we get on with this convention and consider it a funeral. You’re witnessing a party that will now fall, and I’m going to help it on its way. Some of you diehard Republicans who read this blog may wish to find other haunts. It’s not going to be pretty. When I saw John Sununu begin to surface with regularity on Fox News over the last few weeks, I suspected the fix was in. His conduct of the RNC Rules Committee on Tuesday demonstrates that fact.

I am a person who refuses to separate his convictions from his actions and choices. Mitt Romney could have done many things to gain my support, and the support of many others, but rather than do so, he seized control. He used all his pals and buddies to take over and make the voices of grass-roots Republicans and Tea Party conservatives silent. Some will urge that we remain focused on November, and I agree, but my focus is irrevocably changed. I am out to defeat the GOP establishment in any and every form that may take.

Note to conservatives: I will understand if you swallow your pride and your principles and vote for Mitt Romney, but do not come to this site to chastise me or others who refuse to join you. Your argument had consisted of convincing us that the Romnoids wouldn’t behave this way, and at precisely that moment when they needed to prove it, they behaved precisely as we dissenters knew that they would. Save it.

Romney had his chance. Today, he blew it.

Thank-you for your detailed comments. Not surprised about the nasty fight. What had taken place up in your home state was no doubt a very, very nasty fight. Also be ready for more nasty fights ahead.

I say to you, keep up the good work and fight the GOOD fight. :)

Absolutely... our ONLY chance to repeal Obamacare is to get a new president.

You assume entirely too much about my post ~ there are a number of candidates available to vote for, or vote against, or to ignore.

That's also a test to see which way the readers can "schiz out" ~ did I say you won?

I thought both Ann and Chris last night spoke very well TO THEIR ASSIGNED TARGET AUDIENCES.

For better or worse, Romney is running the show his way.

We wanted red meat and we were served salad.

We wanted to be thanked, and we got snubbed.

Politics, Romney style, is now on display.

It is different from the McCain Method, so I will give it a ‘wait and see’ for now to the Romney/Ryan Method, unless they play small ball with their Campaign.

Christy had a short leash, but was dead serious about the TRUTH that we can expect to hear from Romney in his Convention Speech.

If Romney cannot give us the Truth that we need to hear in his Convention Speech, then the RINO wing of the once Great Republican Party may well join the Whig Party in the dustbin of History.

BTW Romney, convince us that you REALLY want to beat Obama.

Patience is not an American Virtue.

Tick-Tock Romney, Tick-Tock.

I didn’t ask this. I also included medicare, social security, federal retirement, federal employment - anything from the government - even on military retirement, you are invested in the status quo, like it or not, and it may taint your outlook in the way yours has been tainted.>>>>>>>>You can't actually believe that Mitt is going to do ANYTHING about any of the above? If so, you have been on Ambien a bit too long and need to wake up.

I will not vote for the perceived security of Romney and trade away my freedom.

How is Romney going to take away your freedom?

Allowing Obama another term gives you neither.

I know... let's keep using the same losing formula over and over again... It'll work this time, right?

I vote conservative. What I want "conserved" is the US Constitution and it's protections for my Natural Rights.

The GOP can either cater to that, or they can forget about my vote and support.

End of story.

So we are expecting this guy, who couldn't beat the guy who got beat by Obama the last time around, to win this time?

Sorry, your logic is off. Last time Romney was the guy who was most responsible for McCain winning the primary and losing the general (apart from McCain himself).

One problem with your thinking is that with Obama as president, there is no way we get rid of Obamacare. Romney SAYS he will repeal it. At least with Romney we have a chance to repeal it. >>>>>>> Do you REALLY believe that? Romney created it, he won't touch it. He might pretend to, knowing it will go nowhere. If the Republicans would have nominated a conservative THEN we could have overturned Obamacare. Never happen with Romney.

Well seeing the number of appearances that have drawn very large crowds of Rep. Ryan, it looks like I am right after all.

BTW, I've been making the exact same points for at least 5 years, only recently I've provided some pointers on how to dismantle an existing political party, remove the offending elements, and set up shop again in an almost invisible manner.

We could do it now, or right after the election, or January, or maybe next Summer. Folks need to look into the schedules for their county, district and state committees and see who the chairmen are ~ and the members if they can get them. With internet connectivity folks in politically motivated coalition partner groups can reach these people.

Remember, your typical committee member is probably fairly understanding of how the party works, but they will be devoid of thoughts of HOW TO MAKE IT WORK DIFFERENTLY ~ but they'll be happy to know of them!

Gotta' be pretty dull working as a fixer for the highway industry and getting stuck on a political party's county committee ~ be nice to have some high falootin', maybe even revolutionary ideas that if properly executed could propel you to the District Committee where you'd be looking for new candidates for Congress!

Plenty of FReepers know how to talk the party organization stuff ~ they just don't know it. But we've gone through the chairs here with the coalition building ideas several times this last primary season.

We also have FReepers who ARE committee officers at various levels, and some who've even run for office, sometimes winning ~ frequently losing. The Republicans need help avoiding total destruction of their coalition. Time to remove the problem people the hard way ~ by taking over the party at the base of operation. Maybe you can't get around too well anymore, but you can push the net like nobody's business. Do just that and we'll save America.

I reread post 236. What freedom are you trading away if you voted for Mitt? Or did you mean something besides bill of rights types of freedoms? I don’t see those as threatened under Mitt as much as Obama.

How is Romney going to take away your freedom?

Guaren-damn-teed, the following would occur, on the (now unlikely) chance he got elected:

  1. Sweeping gun bans and harsh restrictions on ammunition.
  2. Continued advancement of the already-very-advanced police state in America.
  3. Ruling in an edict-based fashion as Obama has done.

It's quite obvious, now, that this guy is a 'progressive', as opposed, of course, to Obama's 'communist'.
