MSNBC host: Hey, let’s prosecute Jones as accessory to ambassador’s murder

Why stop there? Let’s round up the journalists who initially reported on Occupy and charge them with accessory to rape. Oh, wait, we have freedom of speech in this country? Silly us:

(VIDEO AT LINK)

MIKE BARNICLE: Given this supposed minister’s role in last year’s riots in Afghanistan, where people died, and given his apparent or his alleged role in this film, where, not yet nailed down, but at least one American, perhaps the American ambassador is dead, it might be time for the Department of Justice to start viewing his role as an accessory before or after the fact.

DONNY DEUTSCH: I was thinking the same thing, yeah.

If you’re thinking about prosecuting someone for non-violent speech because of the violent reaction of others, then you might be an idiot. Whatever else one thinks of Jones, he has the right to oppose Islam and to make films that take a critical look at Mohammed. Our freedom of speech — and in this case, of religious practice through comparative criticism — does not get trumped by rioting mobs on the other side of the globe. It’s perfectly fine for people to criticize Jones and his efforts — that’s also free speech — but calling for his prosecution for his speech and religious practice defies everything for which the First Amendment stands.

One might think that journalists would know this better than anyone else … but apparently not, at least not the journalists on MSNBC.

Update: Maybe they should take some lessons in journalism from Timothy Dalrymple, because it’s not clear that Jones has anything to do with the film anyway:

Somehow the name of Terry Jones, the once-obscure fundamentalist Floridian “pastor” who made headlines around the world with his determination to burn copies of the Koran, gets mixed into this. The curious thing? It’s not exactly clear that Terry Jones had anything to do with it. The Coptic blogger, Sadek, had recently met Terry Jones and joined him in an anti-Islamic protest in Washington in June. Beyond that, it’s unclear whether Jones knew of the film or intended to promote it, until now.

The New York Times seems intent to weave Terry Jones’ name throughout the story, but it reports:

Reached by telephone in Florida, a representative of Mr. Jones seemed unaware of the film, but hours later the pastor sent The Lede a statement by e-mail in which he complained of the attack on the embassy in Cairo and announced plans to screen the trailer for the film on Tuesday night. He said that it “reveals in a satirical fashion the life of Muhammad.”

Clearly Jones had nothing to do with the production of the film. The Times describes him as an “ally” of Sadek, although it may be the case they only just met in July. There’s also no evidence that Jones had any intention of screening the film until it exploded.

But don’t let that stand in the way of calls for a blasphemy trial for Jones.

Not only did Jones have nothing to do with the youtube ‘movie’, the youtube ‘movie’ had NOTHING to do with the Muslims killing the Americans on 9/11.

The savages were shouting Obama Obama there are a billion Osamas. NOTHING about the youtube ‘movie’.

Reports even from the liberal media are confirming what everyone knows, this was a planned attack for 9/11.

The supposed filmmaker , Sam Bacile is not Israeli and that is not his real name. The only guy who is talking in named Steve Klein, he lives in Riverside County and has a group called Concerned Citizens for the First Amendment, he once ran for Office as An American Independent Party member. He is also associated with the Church at Kaweah in Fresno.

” Klein also has ties to the Minuteman movement. In 2007, he sued the city of San Clemente for ordering him to stop leafleting cars with pamphlets opposing illegal immigration.”

Klein also states he he leads anti-Islam protests outside of mosques and schools, and because, he said, he is a Vietnam veteran and an expert on uncovering al Qaeda cells in California. He apparently was involved in the Protest against the Mosque in Temecula

They have nothing to say about a “president” derelect in his duty on the campaign trail non-stop. Not attending intelligence briefings? They can’t come up with one criticism of their black messiah? They are pathetic and everyone sees right through this charade. And I don’t mean just conservatives. I work in NYC. People here are pretty outraged about this.

These far left hacks will kiss the asses of the Muslims til their last dying breath. The film had NOTHING to do with what these monsters are doing. They are chanting about Obama, NOT the film. This was planned in advance so that it corresponds with the anniversary of 9/11..we are under attack AGAIN and these far left kooks will stop at nothing at protecting their dear leader

Hey! Let’s also prosecute Obama and Biden for accessory to murder for saying, “Osama is dead and GM is alive.” at the dem convention. That might have sparked the riots as well.

And if it is found that it is Obama and the DNC gleefully spiking the dead Osama football was actually the catalyst that set them off will the MSNBC scumbags suggest the same for their Rat buddies?

What movie is this, where can I see this movie? Hopefully it can go viral. I’m sick of the killing of free speech. All the whining over the ‘Pussy Riot’ situation and here we have something quite similar and all of a sudden freedom of speech doesn’t seem so precious

That is a really good point. Now we just need a first tier talking head to juxtapose the MSNBC comments and the DNC comments.

Ok lets play.

IF you accept this notion you must also go back and prosecute every single "journalists" who reported leaked US intelligence information during both the Bush and Obama Presidency that got Americans killed for murder.

I think Sarah Palin was right on when she suggested that OBAMA grow a pair. While these pussyfied politicians immediately drop on their knees and beg the pardon of these criminals, they should be spending their time trying to grow a pair. We have people wearing skirts with bigger cojones than those wearing pants. That’s saying a whole lot for the bunch we have elected to run out country

The idiot known as Sheppard Smith started his show today by talking about the preacher starting riots on the other side of the world. I guess reporters try to blame everything on a Christian preacher...including jihad.

Changed his tune before it was over, but...

Sheppard Smith is an idiot, IMO.

The minister had no “role” in riots in Afghanistan. The idea that anyone should credit an obscure minister with muslims murdering in Afghanistan, is absolutely insane.

This stuff is really angering me. I can believe, say, or do whatever the hell I want about Mohammed or anyone else. I have the freedom an idiot miuslim in Afghanistan or Egypt does not have. And we have the right to defend that freedom to the death.

I don’t give a damn about that pastor and how dare those murdering sob’s hurt any innocent person over such nonsense!

This comes from liberal “thinking” and our becoming a poorly educated country that is not engaging in rigorous thinking.

These commentators act like little kids and your brother just insulted teh kid next door, so you apologize. This is a country of 300 plus million people, we cannot possibly permit murders to occur as a reaction to what some individual American says or believes.

Do these people even have any common sense? The Christian pastor is CRITICAL of Islam. So muslims respond by MURDERING innocent Americans even as they apologize.

Now excuse me which side is the religious extremist deserving of criticism (in fact killing).

I only wish that every low life bastard who attacked our embassies could be dead now. Knowing that many of them will get away angers me. They are murderers.
