As last night dragged on in the post debate analysis, the initial cursory “he did call it an act of terror” fact checking turned into “actually, he didn’t and it took him forever to do so” fact checking. It was not pretty. And it was a hell of a thing for Obama to accuse Romney of politicizing a cover up, then hide behind the rhetoric of greeting coffins as they returned home.
Within an hour of the debate being over, Candy Crowley herself acknowledged on CNN that “Mitt Romney was right in the main.” CNN and other networks then proceeded to point out all the times Obama Administration officials kept denying terrorism was responsible for what happened. The fact checkers had to explain just how wrong the President was and just how misleading he tried to be last night. This will continue in the lead up to the foreign policy debate.
Here’s a more important point: Barack Obama put himself solidly in the center as the man of responsibility. He actually refused to answer the undecided voter’s question about security for the Ambassador and, in dodging, put himself in conflict with the State Department. The magnitude of the lies, half-truths, and redirects continues to add up to a significant malignancy. And we have one more debate, solely on foreign policy, to go.
The muddied waters and detailed fact checking will hurt Barack Obama over the long haul. A tie, at best, in last night’s debate will slowly drain away — a fleeting moment in the fury of analysis over what did and did not happen regarding Benghazi.
There was another striking moment in the debate that should not be overshadowed by the Libyan issue.
An undecided voter who voted for Obama in 2008, asked Barack Obama why he should vote for Barack Obama now. Stunningly, Obama offered no new plans, no new proposals, and no new ideas. The voter clearly said he wasn’t impressed with the past four years, but that’s all Obama had to offer. Then Romney countered. It was a magical moment of fact telling, just hitting the low notes of Barack Obama’s record. Obama clearly wanted to respond, but he could not. There was no time.
One last point — Obama seemed very angry last night throughout the debate. “Stern,” one friend called his expressions. Several times, on the stage, Mitt Romney commanded and the President followed. Romney led the President and I think it showed to undecided voters. Romney, at one point, commanded the President shut up and sit down and the President did so like a dog told to sit. It was masterful........"

I, sort of, reread a lot of stuff about Libya because I knew we’d probably get a Libya question so I kind of wanted to be up on it,” said Crowley. “I knew that the president had said, you know, these acts of terror won’t stand. Or, whatever the whole quote was.”
“Right after that I did turn around and say, but you’re totally correct that they spent two weeks telling us this was about a tape and that that there was this riot outside the Benghazi consulate which there wasn’t,” Crowley added.
“[Romney] was right in the main, I just think he picked the wrong word,” Crowley concluded. She went on to say that her instinct forced her to correct Romney even though his “thrust” was correct.".......
The voters now know he’s a liar......and if not a liar, utterly/dangerously incompetent.

“Nobody is more concerned with the safety and security of those folks than I am,” said Obama about the Sept. 11 attack in Libya that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens. Obama blasted Romney for suggesting that the administration misdirected the public after the attack by saying it was triggered spontaneously instead of being a planned terrorist act.
“The suggestion that anybody in my team ... would play politics or mislead when we’ve lost four of our own, Governor, is offensive,” said Obama, highlighting that he mentioned “acts of terror” in the Rose Garden the day after the deaths.
The quote proved to be a stumbling block for Romney, who questioned Obama’s words and was eventually overruled by moderator Candy Crowley, who injected herself into the debate and backed up the president.
“It took them a long time to say this was a terrorist act by a terrorist group,” said a flustered Romney

Interesting she picked that word, because that’s exactly what I’ve been thinking— her mother instinct to protect her whimpering child who is about to get the pummeling of his life for lying to the kids in the neighborhood about throwing their dog under a bus.
I’m amazed (but not totally surprised) by the reaction of the pundits who declared Obama the winner last night. Why? Because his lies were slipped under the radar or he was allowed to get away with lies thanks to Candy Crowley? Even if he was allowed to get away with his lies, I don’t see how he won the debate. He wasn’t quite as comatose as the last debate, but I think Romney skewered him on the central question that’s most important to Americans: his awful economic record. In that area, I believe Romney gave a very forceful presentation. Obama couldn’t keep from lying in those areas as well. His performance was typically shot through with lies.
I thought Romney did fine considering the moderator lied and covered for Hussein.
Amazing how many “Freepers” deliberately sow fear and doubt, making gullible others crumble into a weeping heap at the slightest inflection.
Just remember, you have no idea who some of the negative flood posters around here really are, and who they are working for.
No idea whatsoever.
But in a political power struggle it’s to be expected.
Infiltrate, gain acceptance, then start subverting.
Just be aware, people, and react accordingly.
Forget the lies we now know we have a candidate who will fight. I like the fight in this dog. Mitt I’m on board all the way. He did not back off at all. Not only did he go the distance I felt he had more in the tank. I really like this guy. This is the candidate I want articulate and a fighter. And a man who doesn’t sit down.
Few people have ever been in a shark tank-like debate situation and held their own. Romney did last night. The crowd were nearly 80% 2008 Obama voters, currently “undecided”. The questions sounded like Obama talking points and he miraculously hit the softballs hard. The moderator is a known Democrat supporting liberal who worked to cover up Obama’s true record and smooth his errors.
Romney looked great. He wasn’t even my 5th pick. I’d been supporting him as a way to get rid of Obama. Today, I’m voting for Romney because of Romney. He will make a very good President of the United States and we’re in dire need of a good man in that slot.
That said, the solution to our problems won’t come from Washington or any politician. They’ll come from millions of Americans doing what we do best - solving problems.
Despite the pundits spinning for Obama and the MSM giving him high fives just how did the voters react? I though Frank Luntz’s focus group of former Obama voters and undecideds was very telling...they saw through Obama’s lies and know well that in four years of Obama in charge things have gotten worse not better and are overwhelmingly swinging to Romney.
The most telling Q&A was when the question was put directly to Obama: Who in your administration denied the requests for additional security and why? Obama never answered the guy. It’s a shame Mitt didn’t apologize to the questioner on behalf of Obama for not answering his question.
It doesn’t matter what actually happened. There was no way in hell Obama was going to be allowed to lose that debate. Another loss would have effectively ended the campaign.
I think of the lost opportunity Romney had to close the deal. Crowley didn’t help, but he missed a chance to ensure his own election.
