Like the Bell Curve, some scientific studies just can’t be brought to light due to political concerns.

The authors apparently haven’t heard that one isn’t allowed to research how women’s cycles might affect their functioning.

Very nearly the ultimate taboo.

The Bell Curve is more XsubC vs XsubL. Somebody hijacked it long ago. It’s a capacitance vs reactance thingy. :^)

IMHO, it depends upon the tasks involved.

Fine. I’d be delighted to see men (especially in my family) take on more tasks and complete them all successfully.

I’m looking forward to the study that shows that women who are pregnant or nursing can’t be expected to do anything but FReep and feed the catz.

Man multitasking: Hold down the couch, test the remote, pass gas.

Woman multitasking: Cook dinner for 5, pay the 3 bills that came in today’s mail, fold & sort 2 loads of laundry.

:)

Ugh...certainly not in my household. I’m cooking, running laundry, balancing the checkbook, talking to him, listening to the news...and that’s after working a full day....

He’s no dummy...he has a PhD in Computer Science....but his eyes cross and brain freezes if I ask him to take out the trash while he’s trying to decipher something else.....

Women were the gatherers, from what I understand. They went out in groups, took care of the children, gathered the nuts, berries, grains, tubers, etc., while communicating to each other where to find food. Multi-tasking is hard wired into their brains.

Men on the other hand, hunted. They may have gone out in hunting parties, but they were single focused on their prey, sometimes tracking it for hours or days, and didn’t communicate with each other for fear of scaring off the prey. Men are hard-wired to be single focused.

End of story —at least in my household...:-)

My experience also does not support the study’s result ... but if it were true, I’d be happy.

However, if it is true, that means that men who are perfectly capable of being alert, productive, and competent are just letting women do everything because the men are bone lazy. Put them in a war zone with lives at stake (especially theirs!) and they often rise to the occasion, so it seems the basic ability is there ...

If women are supposedly so good at multitasking, why is it that they can’t have sex and a headache at the same time? :=)

The multi-task myth is related to a number of myths propagated by leftists over the decades. One of the biggest myths that held sway among many "experts" was the tabula rasa myth which stated that what people know is totally related to the environment in which they grew up. In short, there is no such thing as inherited intelligence according ot the tabula rasa myth. It fit in perfectly with the leftist-socialist ideals of man being a creature totally reliant on a strong state. No individuals please.

And if there is no inherited intelligence, differences in IQ between ethnic groups and sexes was due to prejudice and repression. That myth was destroyed by research in the 1990s which proved conclusively that people do indeed have inherited intelligence. Which most regular people suspected anyway.

The women are better at multi-tasking myth was invented during the sixties. However, some women are better than men at multi-tasking. Like my wife.

Attention, Ladies:

If the guy is as bloody stupid, incompetent, lazy, boorish, vulgar and inarticulate as you say he is ...

and you married him anyway ...

That makes you look like a major league fool.

You didn't think of that, did you?

Maybe you should reassess your silly "battle of the sexes" rhetoric ... it's not exactly covering you with glory.

Funny, that’s what my husband says, too, along with, “I didn’t know I was hurting you.” (Once you’ve been through a posterior breech birth with no anesthesia, everything else is just a minor nuisance.)

I’m curious as to why you start a post to a man (I assume) with, “Attention, Ladies.” “Sir Napsalot” is the one framing these posts as a “battle of the sexes” issue.
