California will have to vote for Romney if he gets the national popular vote. Romney might reverse "Gore" things this time. Looking at the Gallup polls it sometimes seems more likely that Romney wins the popular vote.
What a backfire for libs! Why is nobody talking about this?
Law is not in effect
I have seen maybe TWO Obama bumper stickers, here in my part of upper-income central coastal California. This is a VERY liberal area...
Then why do they think the law “will have little effect on the 2012 election”?
I believe it IS in effect and should Romney win the pop and zero the ec and CA flips to Romney because of it Zero will be the first to run screaming to the courts.
(it should be said that as much as I hate zero, I do think this law needs to be challenged as it was not the framers intent for the EC to work this way)
I know what you are talking about. That law only goes into effect IF states with over 270 electoral votes pass a similar law...
Though it was interesting when I went to get my Romney button the volunteer was saying that it was imperative Romney win the popular vote... But I think she just wanted to avoid another 2000 and since Obama is up here 12-15, the enthusiasm is directed towards congressmen, and defeating the skunk tax prop 30.
Sounds like it is not in effect.
“California will have to vote for Romney if he gets the national popular vote.”
Only works for Democrats
Maybe here is why: “California is the ninth state to sign on, giving the effort 132 of the 270 electoral votes it needs to take effect. The others are Vermont, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Illinois, Washington, Hawaii and the District of Columbia.”
There are not enough states in the compact to make it effective. It’s still winner-take-all in 48 of the 50 states and DC. State winner takes two plus apportionment by who wins each Congressional district in ME and NE.
The media telling the nation that California might vote Romney doesn’t fit into their narrative of making disgruntled libs and undecideds think all of America loves 0bama?
OK my bad. Law not in effect. Thanks for clarifying FREEPERS! I am getting nervous and was hoping I found another path to victory. But I was wrong.
All those states are voting for Obama except maybe NJ, and WA which are longshots for Romney
You won’t see the red states agreeing to that garbage. Those states agree with states rights and federalism.
You can bet if Zero wins the EC and Romney wins the popular vote California will see the foolishness of this law and change it back. If this law were in effect in could easily give the presidency to a much reviled republican.
In Eagle Rock, Northeast Los Angeles, I have seen one lawn sign, and very scant Obama stickers. This is the city where Obama went to College... Occidental...in 2008 the signs were everywhere.
This is all about rewarding vote fraud in Cali, Illinois, NY, etc.
Whichever party (hint, starts w/D) is able to commit massive urban vote fraud wins the electoral college votes of any states gullible enough to let their Dem legislature endorse this fraud.

interesting discussion. I’m glad you posted this.
But what it a bunch of very red states pass this law for just this election? Even after the votes are cast?
