While things are tight all around for most of us, one really has to feel for the people right now who're heading into the holidays looking for work. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Obama's re-election is spurring any hiring frenzies - in Realville, USA it may be the opposite. Of course there are theatric (but still quite real) stunts like the guy in Las Vegas who's laying off 22 of his 114 employees in order to prepare for what he perceives is a coming storm of regulation and the Virginia store that shut down for a day to mourn America's loss. But there are also real trouble signs on the horizon for American workers.
There's bad news for educated and skilled workers today, like the news that Boeing is cutting 30% of their management jobs, and closing facilities. But there's also bad news for unskilled workers like the report that McDonald's sales dropped for the first time in almost ten years. And there's bad news all across the board - just in the past 24 hours there have been announced layoffs of lead recycling workers at Exide, a plant closing for heavy equipment manufacturer Caterpillar, and another workforce reduction announcement by computer giant Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). These aren't the signs of recovery, and one has to wonder what's going to happen when extended unemployment ends on Jan 1, 2013. Luckily Obama's on the case, so they should all have green jobs waiting for them.
If you are working toward a medical degree you won’t have a job either. There is a lot of BS out there about how much demand there is for medical people, doctors and nurses. Much of this BS is coming from education establishments hoping you will spend money for a worthless degree. Hospitals have literally hundreds of applications for every opening, and they usually fill openings from within the hospital staff.
It's not entirely BS. They just neglect to inform the students that they'll be working the 6P - 6A shifts 6 days a week. Otherwise, yes, there's little work in traditional daylight shifts for nursing.
This is true. My daughter graduated from nursing school almost 2-years ago, she has her RN credentials, and could not find a job anywhere. While working as a waitress, through luck, or good fortune, she made contact with an HR manager at at large HMO, and found out about a new grad program they had.
Over 800 new graduates applied, they ended up hiring 6 applicants, my daughter happened to be one of the new hires, but there are many qualified people out there looking for jobs, and sad-to-say, things are not getting any better.

Don’t worry, Directive 10-289 will solve this.
Keeping my job in aerospace will be a real trick.
OK. Why don’t the Democrats care about private sector jobs? “Isn’t that where the tax money comes from to pay for those government jobs?” Nope. They just print more money or borrow it. Quit believing that the Democrats think like you do! They don’t! The leaders of the Democrat party are all grifters. Who thinks John Kerry or John Edwards or Hillary Clinton or Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi or Obama want to put on the old coveralls and pull weeds in the collective’s tomato fields? No way! They’re just grifters. Could they accidentally screw the country up? Yep. They’re grifters. They think they can just move on.
that is so scary omg
Oh, it’s much more than just neglect to inform. Students are told over and over that their ‘future is bright’ and ‘there are jobs for all of you’ from day one. Virtually everyone I talk to who is not looking for work in the medical field also believes there are plenty jobs for nurses and docs. Communist propaganda ministry, USA style.
Nursing jobs??? Why do they need nurses?? Under OStalinCare they are going to give you a pill and tell you to go home and die. Some day nurses, and probably doctors, will be in critical, critical shortage. They are not going to work for $7.55 an hour.
The good news is if the Death Panels work as designed, the Soc Sec and Medicare financial shortfalls will be a thing of the past. Cutting 10 yrs off the life expectancy changes the whole equation.
"I hope you all have a nice day."
Death panels : you live if you are the right color or a friend of a bureaucrat or whatever sick reason they say . government never works look at the gov schools , gov public housing. All they want is more power and socialism and genocide of those they hate as in a certain color that is deemed to be racist by the media (look at south africa now)
Bingo, you have just found the Truth in Obama Statements that Obamacare will Reduce Health care Costs,He Never really told you How it will reduce them, that of Course was always in the Fine print, if you had enough patience to look at it. Just Read Ezekiel Emmanuels Complete Lives System,or Quality of Life years. That spells it right out
